Chapter 156 - Traitor in the Order

Actually, Yuki's true intention wasn't that complex.

He simply didn't want to deal with the hassle.

Handing over the management of so many countries to him? He wasn't about to create extra work for himself.

It was better to let the original administrators of these countries handle things themselves. He'd just unify them, which would still achieve the goal of unifying the world.

As for supervision, Yuki had already thought of a solution.

Later, he would gather those descendants of Hero Bloodlines and establish an organization.

This organization would be the one unifying all the world's kingdoms, and it would monitor things on his behalf.

This way, he could accomplish both Akane's third and second tasks at the same time.

"Mr. Yuki's plan is brilliant!"

"Is this the wisdom of a deity?! Truly remarkable!"

At this moment, the King gazed fervently at Yuki, his voice trembling with excitement.

Seeing the agitated King, Yuki and Akane both looked somewhat taken aback.

Akane leaned closer to Yuki and lowered her voice to ask him:

"Yuki-kun, did you brainwash him?"

"Just now he looked like he'd eaten a bitter melon, and now he's a fanatical believer?"

Akane was full of confusion, staring strangely at the King.

Yuki merely shrugged, indicating he hadn't done anything.

Iris, seeing her father's state, was similarly astonished.

However, she found Yuki's approach relatively acceptable.

Because at the very least, the country she wanted to protect hadn't been destroyed. For her, that was enough.

"Mr. Yuki, no—"

"My Lord! What does our Midgar Kingdom need to do?"

"Whatever you require, please give the order. We will dedicate our humble efforts to your grand endeavor."

The King spoke earnestly and respectfully to Yuki, appearing completely at his service.

Seeing him look like an enthusiastic, worshipful fan, Yuki felt somewhat speechless.

"There is indeed one thing. For you, it would be a beneficial task."

Yuki thought for a moment, then decided to assign them one task first.

"Please, go ahead!"

Hearing this, the King immediately perked up, sitting up straight and looking ready to listen intently.

Iris beside him did the same.

"What do you know about the Diabolos Cult?"

Yuki paused, then softly asked the two of them.

"The Diabolos Cult? What kind of organization is that?"

Princess Iris, unaware of this organization, looked puzzled.

The King, however, was different. Though he didn't know much, he had at least heard of it.

"I've heard a little. A very mysterious organization, said to be named after the demon Diabolos."

The King slowly shared the information he knew.

"The demon Diabolos?! To name themselves after that demon! That definitely sounds like an evil organization!"

Though Princess Iris hadn't heard of the Diabolos Cult, she had heard of the demon Diabolos.

That being had once brought disaster to this world. It was only through the Heroes' life-sacrificing battle that the demon was slain, saving the world from destruction.

"My Lord, do you perhaps know more detailed information about this organization?"

The King felt that since Yuki mentioned this cult, he must possess complete information about it and hurriedly asked.

"Of course."

Yuki nodded.

Beside him, Akane chimed in, speaking up for what felt like the first time in a while.

"Yuki-kun knows everything and can do anything!"

Princess Iris, however, didn't take Akane's adulation seriously.

She didn't believe anyone in this world could be omniscient and omnipotent.

But the King was different; he believed it wholeheartedly.

"Since you want to know, I'll tell you a bit about this organization."

Yuki then explained the Diabolos Cult's objectives and their experiments to the two of them.

After hearing this, both father and daughter's expressions grew grave.

"Such evil experiments?! Using humans as ingredients for endless life and power?!"

Princess Iris trembled with anger.

But that wasn't what angered her most. What Yuki said next completely enraged Iris.

"Princess Iris, if it were only that, they'd just be rats scurrying in dark corners."

"But now, these rats are openly holding indispensable positions in high places across the nations of the world."

Yuki gave her a meaningful look, his tone tinged with sarcasm.

His words were so clear that Princess Iris couldn't possibly miss the implication.

She stood up abruptly, shaking with fury and shock:

"What?! They've gone that far?!"

"How dare they! How is it possible?!"

"Nothing is impossible, Iris."

Surprisingly, the King beside her remained much calmer.

"That's right. Take the Midgar Kingdom, for example. Quite a few members of the Cult are lurking here."

"Remember those ministers I killed earlier?"

Yuki chuckled lightly, took a sip of tea, and looked at the King.

The King nodded, then his expression turned to one of shock.

"They were all important ministers here. I truly never imagined they were part of the Cult..."

The King's voice was thick with disbelief.

"Not only that, Princess Iris."

"Your Knight Order... has many members of the Cult within it!"

Yuki delivered another heavy blow directly to Iris, causing the Princess's composure to completely shatter.

She had always believed the Crimson Order she founded to protect the Kingdom was filled with loyal and honorable knights.

Yet among them were members of that evil Cult.

"Who? Is what you're saying really true?"

Though Iris was ninety percent convinced, she still held onto a sliver of doubt.

Yuki smiled, unoffended, instead appearing completely confident.

"Zenon Griffey. You can pay more attention to this person later. Following his lead, you'll uncover quite a few Cult members."

"So, I'll leave this matter to you!"

"After all, this is your country. Handle your own household affairs."

Yuki didn't choose to intervene himself. Instead, he gave them the clues to investigate and handle these lurking Cult members on their own.

"That name... seems to be a Dark Knight who's gained quite a reputation recently at the Academy! The Instructor of Fencing..."

Hearing the name, Iris lowered her head in thought, carefully recalling where she had heard it before.

Yuki smiled but didn't elaborate further.

In the original work, this person was chosen as Alexia's fiancé due to his excellence, but was later easily killed by the protagonist, Shadow.

Judging by Iris and the King's reactions, it seemed Alexia hadn't been betrothed to him yet.

Instead of gaining the King's favor as in the original plot, he had now drawn their suspicion.

However, such a minor character wasn't worth Yuki's concern.

After chatting briefly with them a while longer, the King invited Yuki and Akane to stay in prepared rooms.

But Yuki declined. Besides securing the Midgar Kingdom today, he and Akane had another place they needed to go.

Seeing this, though somewhat disappointed, the King respected Yuki's choice and stated the rooms would be kept clean and ready for their use anytime.

Just as the four of them were leaving the study and had opened the door, they saw Alexia standing outside, seemingly having waited for quite some time.
