Chapter 44 - [44] Change

"So, you've earned recognition from both sides?"

"More or less. Though I've got to say, everyone on both sides has something wrong with their heads. Still, they genuinely care about the clan. Once they witnessed my Mangekyō, they settled down."

It was a clear afternoon, and Yuhara and Shisui were sitting at the edge of a training ground, chatting quietly.

Shisui looked slightly awkward—understandably so, since Yuhara's comment had lumped him in with the "idiots."

But he didn't argue. From Yuhara's perspective, and by his logic, Shisui probably did count as one of them.

That said, none of that mattered anymore. Shisui had just received a piece of news that filled him with excitement.

It was his day off. He'd gone home to ask Yuhara how things were going, only to find the house empty.

After asking around, he finally tracked Yuhara down at the training grounds—only to get roped into sparring the moment he arrived.

Despite his eagerness to get answers, he saw how calm and relaxed Yuhara was—taking time to train, polish his movements, and get used to his new ninja blade.

That told him everything was probably fine.

So, Shisui quietly joined him. They trained together until just now, and only after they were finished did Shisui get to ask what had happened.

And the answer had been even better than he expected.

Both Uchiha Sō, whom he respected like a grandfather, and Uchiha Takechi of the hardliner faction had acknowledged Yuhara.

Even more surprising were their demands—or lack thereof. Simple, sincere, and hopeful.

Just as Yuhara had said, their differing ideologies had thrown the clan into chaos… but deep down, they did want to see the Uchiha thrive.

"Well then… congratulations, Yuhara."

Shisui decided to drop the subject before Yuhara's sharp tongue ruined his sentimental mood. He smiled and asked,

"So, should I start calling you 'Clan Head' like the other elders?"

"Not just yet," Yuhara smirked. "There's still a lot that needs to be done before I officially take over. Don't tell me you're already itching to be my Vice-Clan Head?"

Shisui scratched his head awkwardly.

In truth, there was still plenty of work left for the elders—mainly defining what each faction considered acceptable when dealing with Konoha.

Negotiating that wasn't easy. They'd spent over half a month just trying to reach consensus on some points.

Whenever talks broke down, they'd default to their agreed-upon protocol: let Yuhara decide.

Though the responsibility was exhausting, Yuhara always knew exactly what he wanted to do.

That alone set him apart from Fugaku. Yuhara didn't hesitate—he made his decisions swiftly.

As for the smaller details and political skirmishes? He turned a blind eye.

Trying to micromanage everything would only burn him out. He wasn't about to follow in the footsteps of a certain famously overworked strategist.

As long as everyone got their piece of the pie, they'd stay on board—that was good enough.

On top of that, Yuhara also began working with both factions to reach out to the clan's younger generation—what he called the "true majority."

He'd made his views on power structure and mobilization clear before, and thanks to his knowledge from political theory courses in his past life, he understood the value of "the people's power."

So he was more than willing to invest his time in that.

Prosperity couldn't come from focusing solely on the ninja ranks. It had to involve every corner of the clan.

And that meant he had to overhaul everything to push the Uchiha's overall prosperity score higher—because that would let him trade for even better abilities.

『Current Affiliation: Uchiha Clan』

『Status: Relatively Stable — You've resolved internal issues, but external threats still loom』

『Prosperity Level: 11,000 (Baseline for a normal clan: 10,000)』

『Suggestion: Consolidate all internal power to prepare for external threats』

After unifying both sides, Yuhara gained some points from the system. But the reward was pitiful—barely enough to bother with.

It was technically enough to do another draw, and this time, he got:

『Ninjutsu: Aura Shield – After each ninjutsu cast, gain a temporary chakra shield that absorbs a set amount of damage』

It was a decent defensive technique, but he was still hoping to get the "Granite Shield" from last time. No luck.

Honestly, Yuhara didn't get why the point reward was so low. He had just unified two major factions!

Then it hit him.

His integration of the clan hadn't come from the seat of the clan head. It was an outsider effort—so the system didn't consider it "true" unification.

That meant the ideological gap between him and the rest of the clan still existed.

Until he officially became clan head, his point growth would probably remain limited.

"Well… it's almost time anyway. This can't be delayed much longer."

Months had passed since he first got the system. The night of the massacre—etched vividly in his memories—was drawing ever closer.

But thankfully, he was nearly ready. The tragedy would never happen under his watch.

Once he wrapped up all current responsibilities, he'd formally challenge Uchiha Fugaku for the position.

No matter what, the clan head title would be his.

"Oh, by the way, Shisui."

Yuhara suddenly remembered something.

"What's Itachi been up to?"

"Itachi?" Shisui blinked, thinking for a moment. "He's been busy with missions lately, but he should be back soon."

"I see."

Yuhara didn't press for details—he knew better than to ask about Anbu missions.

Still, he was thinking.

As much as he loathed what Itachi would eventually do, the truth was: Itachi hadn't crossed any lines yet.

And right now, the clan needed strength.

So Yuhara was willing to try—just once.

"Maybe you can talk to him," he said to Shisui. "See if you can convince him to support the clan."

"Convince him?" Shisui was surprised but nodded seriously. "Alright. I'll do it. But… how much should I tell him?"

"As little as possible," Yuhara replied after thinking it over. "Just let him know the clan has a new vision—one that can truly change its fate.

"Unless he's willing to genuinely accept that…"

"You don't trust him?" Shisui cut in, then shrugged. "Never mind. Leave it to me—I'll handle it."

"Thanks," Yuhara said with a quiet nod. "I'm counting on you."
