"This is where the magic happens," Sam said, gesturing around his workshop. The scent of sawdust filled the air. He picked up a piece of intricately carved wood. "I'm working on a new table. The grain in this maple is incredible. Feel it."
April ran her fingers over the smooth surface. "It's beautiful, Sam."
Later, as he spoke passionately about his craft, she realized there was a depth to him she hadn't seen as a teenager. "You really love this, don't you?" she asked.
"It's more than just a job," he said, his eyes shining. "It's… it's a part of me. Creating something with my own two hands. It's… grounding."
"It's beautiful, Sam," she said sincerely. "You have a real gift."
He looked up, a genuine smile gracing his lips. "Thanks, April. Coming from you, that means a lot."
