Chapter 4: Infinite Water
Time: October 6, 2074 | Location: Night City, Badlands
After several hours of scavenging, Adrian finally converted all the usable materials in the abandoned town into blocks just as the sun began to set.
His backpack, though large, could only hold so much. With plenty of resources still left behind, Adrian had a spark of inspiration—he synthesized several chest minecarts and loaded the surplus materials into them.
Testing his idea, he used the chest minecarts' collision boxes to push a line of them forward by shoving each one from the back.
"This should work. As long as I move in the right direction, I can push the whole convoy of minecarts and head out."
He glanced regretfully at the leftover scrap materials.
"These can't be converted—they don't meet the required standards. Shame."
"But what I've gathered should last me a long while. No point hoarding junk."
He checked the contents of his pack: mostly raw blocks—iron, leather, wool, string, wood, and even water source blocks.
His hotbar held his synthesized tools and sword, along with bread made from stale burgers he had salvaged earlier.
"Alright. Time to make a shield for the off-hand."
He first crafted planks from wood, then built a crafting table. Placing it down, he synthesized a shield.
"Next up—a bed. Once I've got that, I can set a respawn point."
The thought triggered a question in his mind.
"Hey AI, can I still use the command to set a respawn point?"
Ding!
Answering Host: Yes. After death, the Host will exist as a consciousness body. During this state, protected by the System, the Host can observe the world in a ghost-like perspective, but cannot interfere with it.
Whether in a living state or a consciousness body, the Host can use commands to set respawn points.
However, please note: Based on the Host's current permission level, only a subset of commands are available. The Host may use, but not create, commands.
For more information, please refer to the Permission and Restriction Guidelines or view the Complete List of Currently Usable Commands.
Adrian browsed through the list of available commands.
As expected, he couldn't switch modes yet—no creative mode flying for now.
The permissions guide was massive, so he bookmarked it for later—like when he urgently needed to increase his access level.
"Well, I can still use the bed to sleep. According to MC lore, it's a cure for all kinds of insomnia. Guaranteed quality rest."
He stuffed the bed into his backpack, then re-evaluated his next steps.
"I'll build an infinite water source once I find a spot to settle. First, I need saplings and wheat seeds—last missing pieces for a proper base."
"Time to leave this noob town behind. Let's hunt for saplings and seeds!"

After over thirty minutes of pushing his minecart convoy across the wasteland, Adrian finally spotted the bushes and dead grass he'd been searching for.
"Finally out of that hellhole. Now I see why the place I spawned in was abandoned."
"No water, no plants... that place was dead in every sense."
He muttered some curses to vent his frustration, then took a deep breath and refocused.
"Alright. Time to get to work."
Parking the minecarts, Adrian approached a bush, pulled out his axe, and struck. The entire plant vanished into nothing.
He checked the empty slot he had reserved in his inventory—sure enough, a bright green sapling sat quietly there.
"Got one! After all that walking... finally a sapling."
He then cleared nearby dead grass by hand and snagged a few wheat seeds.
With renewed energy, Adrian became a human plow—tearing through bushes, weeds, and the occasional cactus. After clearing a wide area, he took stock:
Two full stacks of saplings, three and a half stacks of wheat seeds, plus sticks, wood, apples, and a few cacti.
"Huh… apples dropping from bushes? Not logical, but very MC."
"These seeds and saplings should be enough. Now I need a base."
He stacked up some sand blocks he had dug earlier to get a better view of the surroundings. After scanning the horizon, he retrieved the sand, aligned his minecarts, and resumed his journey—heading east.
"Those rocks to the east look promising. Just like the ones from 2077. No signs of civilization nearby either."
"I'll check them out. If they're good, I'll start building there."
Ten minutes later, Adrian arrived at the rock formations he had seen from afar. Massive stones jutted through the sand, their surfaces untouched by humans.
"Perfect. Looks stable and remote—ideal for a base."
He gave himself a quick morale boost, then started digging into the base of the nearest boulder, carving out a tunnel inward and downward.
Before long, a rough Shelter took shape. It wasn't fancy—just a classic underground dirt hut, MC-style.
"Base dug out. Charcoal's ready. Let's light this place up."
He crafted a batch of torches and spaced them carefully to keep the light level at 8 or above, banishing any potential spawns.
He pushed the chest minecarts into the base, then sealed the entrance with a layer of rock, just in case.
Inside, he arranged the carts neatly.
"Next, reinforce the walls with sandstone, expand the space... then it's time for infinite water, a farm, and a tree farm."
"Good thing I grabbed enough dirt and gravel to plant stuff."
After another long session of digging, crafting, and placing, Adrian completed his infinite water pool, wheat farm, and tree plot.
"They're all basic, single-layer, manual farms—but they'll do for now."
"Semi-automatic and full-auto setups come later."
He dipped his hands into the infinite water pool and took a long drink.
"My body might be digitized, but out here in this dry, dusty wasteland, a drink of water hits different."
Feeling renewed, he synthesized a few chests and offloaded his inventory, then transferred all the minecart materials into storage.
"Alright... time to plan the next step."
