Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 - The Echoes of the Past

The cold light of the ancient mirror flickered for a moment as Lin Hai's hand made contact with its surface. The mirror, which had once been a tool of great significance, now lay dormant and unresponsive. Lin Hai stood there, his fingers lightly touching the smooth, cold surface, his brow furrowed in confusion. He glanced at the Sect Leader, who stood beside him, equally perplexed.

"Try again," the Sect Leader urged, his voice laced with uncertainty. "Maybe it's just not time yet."

Lin Hai, still unsure, nodded and placed his hand on the mirror once more. This time, he focused more intently, hoping to feel even the faintest spark of energy, something that would indicate the mirror's awakening. But nothing happened.

The mirror remained still.

Both of them stood in silence, disappointment slowly settling in. The Sect Leader sighed heavily, his eyes narrowing in frustration. The mirror, which had been dormant for centuries, was supposed to react to the one capable of activating it. Yet, it was as if it were mocking them, rejecting their presence.

"Why?" Lin Hai muttered under his breath, stepping back from the mirror. His mind raced, trying to piece together what could be wrong. Why was this ancient artifact, this seemingly crucial key to unlocking something greater, not responding?

"Is it possible we're missing something?" the Sect Leader asked, his voice tinged with uncertainty. He stepped closer to the mirror, examining every inch of it as if hoping to find some hidden clue. But it was futile; no matter how much they tried, the mirror remained unyielding.

Their thoughts were interrupted by a shift in the air, a subtle change that neither of them could fully comprehend. Deep within the underground caves of their home planet, in a space that could house millions of planets, something stirred. It had been waiting in the shadows for eons, untouched by time, hidden beneath layers of forgotten history.

In this independent space, a man stood. He was young, handsome, his features striking with an almost otherworldly beauty. His face, glowing with an ethereal light, radiated immortality and mystery, as if he had existed long before the current generation of celestial beings. His eyes sparkled with ancient knowledge, and there was an enigmatic chuckle on his lips, one that seemed to mock the futility of the two in the main hall of the Celestial Sect.

He gazed upon the 54 tall mountains that loomed around him. These mountains, ancient and towering, were the remnants of a time long past. The sight of them seemed to awaken something deep within him—a memory that had been locked away for so long. His gaze softened, and his lips parted as he whispered to himself, "You suffered too much because of me."

A long sigh escaped his mouth as he continued to look at the mountains, each peak a symbol of lost time, forgotten struggles, and sacrifices made by those who had come before him. "But just wait for some time," he said quietly, as if speaking to no one in particular. "There will be another universal war. Far bigger than the last one."

The words hung in the air, filled with foreboding. The atmosphere around him grew heavier, charged with the weight of prophecy and regret. His eyes grew red, the intensity of his emotions growing stronger. He seemed to be carrying the burden of countless lifetimes, and it weighed on him like an immovable mountain.

Without warning, a single tear slipped from his eye, falling slowly to the ground. The tear hit the surface with a faint sound, like a drop of water in an endless void. It shimmered for a moment, catching the dim light of the space, before disappearing into the soil below. The tear symbolized the pain of the past, the guilt of past decisions, and the inevitability of what was to come.

Meanwhile, back in the main hall of the Celestial Sect, Lin Hai and the Sect Leader remained unaware of the being who had just stirred from his slumber. Both of them stood before the mirror, still unsure of what had gone wrong. Lin Hai's hand hovered over the mirror once again, but there was no spark of power, no reaction. His mind wandered, trying to make sense of everything that had happened so far.

The Sect Leader, noticing Lin Hai's hesitation, placed a hand on his shoulder. "It's alright," he said, his voice gentle but firm. "We just need to be patient. This mirror has been dormant for so long that its power may not awaken easily. But when it does, it will change everything."

Lin Hai nodded, though doubt lingered in his eyes. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to this mirror, something beyond their understanding. The mirror had been linked to the ancient powers of the Celestial Sect, powers that were lost in the wake of the Universal War. It was said that whoever could activate the mirror would be given access to incredible knowledge and power, knowledge that could reshape the fate of the entire universe.

Yet, despite their best efforts, it remained stubbornly silent, as if refusing to reveal its secrets.

As they both stood there in the quiet, the Sect Leader's mind wandered back to the records of the Universal War, to the time when the Celestial Sect had once been the center of all power in the universe. He remembered the betrayal of the 53 celestial beings, the fall of the Sect, and the scars that had been left behind. The Sect had been relegated to the forgotten edges of the galaxy, with only six planets and two stars left under their control. Even now, the memories of that time were still fresh in his mind, as though the wounds had never healed.

He had always known that the mirror held the key to the Sect's revival, but it seemed as though fate was not yet ready to let them reclaim their former glory. Lin Hai, however, was the one who might hold the answers, the one who could unlock the mysteries hidden within the Sect. The Sect Leader knew this, though he wasn't sure whether Lin Hai was truly ready for the burden that came with it.

Back in the mysterious space, the man with the immortal aura stood in silence, his eyes narrowed as he gazed at the vast expanse before him. The celestial chains, which had once held him captive, were now no more than faint echoes in his mind. Yet, he knew that the time for the next great conflict was drawing near. And when it came, everything would change.

As the tear fell from his eye, his expression hardened. "The balance is shifting," he murmured. "The stage is set. The time for the next war is upon us. And those who once betrayed will have to face the consequences."

In the darkness, his figure seemed to fade into the shadows, leaving behind only the faintest trace of his presence. The echoes of his words lingered in the air, as if to remind the universe of the storm that was yet to come.

Back in the Celestial Sect, Lin Hai and the Sect Leader remained in the hall, staring at the mirror, both lost in thought. Little did they know, the fate of the universe was already set in motion. The mirror would reveal its secrets in time, but the cost would be higher than they could ever imagine.
