Chapter 29 - .29

"Why are you so selfish?"

Tie Xin screamed like she had lost her mind, but Danielle didn't move. A small wheat-colored hand grabbed Tie Xin's wrist.

With a strong pull, Tie Xin was thrown by Zachary.

Swish.

The black knife was held across Tie Xin's neck. Zachary looked at her with no expression, as if he were looking at a dead person.

"If you dare to hurt her, you die."

In that moment, Tie Xin truly felt that this man might kill her.

Her whole body trembled, unable to make a sound.

Leng's face showed a hint of complicated emotions. "Danielle, sorry for dragging you into this."

Fei Yang also looked apologetic, as the conflict was between them and Tie Xin, and Danielle had no involvement.

Only Lu Yi didn't agree. He rushed over, wanting to attack Zachary.

"What are you doing? She's just a child!"

Danielle's face darkened. Anyone trying to bully her? Not happening.

Bang.

There was a loud crash, and Lu Yi was hit directly by a water bucket falling from the sky.

Because of gravity, his head crashed through the bottom of the bucket, trapping him tightly inside.

Danielle glanced at him, then said, "Zachary, let's go."

She didn't like this teammate.

She really had to think about this...

Zachary coldly glanced at Tie Xin, suddenly sheathing his knife, and grabbed Danielle's hand as they walked away.

Lu Yi's unwilling voice could still be heard from behind. "Danielle, Danielle, just lend me a hand once."

Zachary looked down at Danielle. "If you don't like it, just leave the team."

After all, he had now awakened his talent, so he didn't need to stay in a nameless team.

Danielle shook her head slightly. "Lu Yi isn't a bad person."

He was just too sentimental.

"I want to give Leng a chance, see if there's any fate there!"

Zachary nodded. To him, it didn't matter if they didn't join a team before; things couldn't get worse now.

"Let's go, we'll have lunch."

Danielle suddenly got excited. She hadn't eaten out since she arrived here.

Today, she was determined to try it.

In the lower circle, it was almost impossible to find a restaurant, but in the middle circle, they were everywhere.

Though the dishes were very simple, mostly stir-fried dishes or noodles.

It didn't compare to the delicious foods from Earth, the food kingdom. Danielle couldn't stop the saliva building up in her mouth.

She ordered two meat dishes and one vegetable dish before finally stopping.

But the excitement disappeared when the food was served.

Zachary handed her a pair of chopsticks. "Eat, you wanted to try it, right?"

Danielle looked at the two meat dishes, both of which were definitely meat, but one was clearly raw, with blood running through it.

The other dish... well, it looked like some kind of dark, failed dish.

The only vegetable dish was fried into a blue color, and Danielle immediately lost all appetite.

"You eat it, and see if it's any good?"

Danielle weakly slumped onto the table, staring at Zachary.

With a complicated look in Danielle's eyes, Zachary took a piece of meat.

His brow furrowed. The taste?

Danielle grinned. "How is it?"

Thinking wasting food was shameful, Zachary tilted his head back and swallowed without chewing much.

"It's not good!"

Rain also spat out the black meat he had bitten into.

"Mom, it's hard to bite."

Danielle sighed and placed her last hope in the blue vegetable dish.

Ugh!

Danielle couldn't hold back and almost vomited. A horrible smell hit her straight in the face.

It was worse than month-old leftovers.

"This is impossible, it's too bad, I'm not eating it."

"Hmph, country bumpkin."

"That's steak. How can it be bad if you've never even tried it? This is ridiculous."

Nearby customers pointed at Danielle and her group, their eyes full of disdain.

Rain's face turned red, his small body kept squirming, looking nervous.

"It's, it's really bad."

"Where did this kid come from, why is he lying? Waiter, come here, these people must be trying to cause trouble."

The man with a red face shouted, and suddenly, everyone in the restaurant was looking at them.

Rain was scared and cried out loud.

Zachary was radiating coldness. He stood up, ready to go deal with the man with the red face.

Danielle grabbed his arm. "Don't be impulsive, let me handle this."

At that moment, a few waiters hurried over. "Customer, is there a problem?"

Although the restaurant seemed upscale, the waiters didn't earn much.

Most of the workers here were either men with strange talents or aimless people.

The man with the red face was loudly pointing at Danielle. "They want to eat for free!"

The waiter looked at Danielle and was initially stunned by her beauty.

Her face flushed a little. "Hello, customer. I'm the waiter Li Ran. Are you dissatisfied with the dishes?"

Li Ran was still polite, and Danielle didn't want to make things difficult for him.

"I just think these dishes aren't very tasty…"

Before she could finish speaking, the man with the red face laughed loudly.

He exaggerated as he turned to the woman beside him. "Dear, look at this woman, still pretending at a time like this."

"Of course, like mother, like child. If the adults can pretend, the kids can lie too."

Rain kept shaking his little head, tears flowing down his face.

"I'm not lying, it's really bad, bad!"

Danielle's face became as cold as water, and her presence as the eldest daughter of the Duo family burst out.

She walked over to the man with the red face's table and slammed her hand down on it.

"If you've never seen anything, don't casually judge others. If I say it's bad, then it's bad."

The man with the red face was so startled that he couldn't say anything. He quickly realized and awkwardly leaned towards the woman beside him.

"Ning Lan, look at how she's bullying me!"

Ugh.

So disgusting.

Danielle couldn't understand. Even though the time favored women over men, some men shouldn't be copying women in this petty rivalry. It was really hard to watch.

Ning Lan, about thirty years old, was the gentle type.

She gently patted the red-faced man's head, then turned to Danielle.

Her voice was soft, but there was an implied warning. "Apologize to my darling."

Ning Lan's eyes narrowed. "I'm Ning Lan."

"Ning Lan, the famous one? Well, I'm Danielle, then."

Danielle rolled her eyes. "It's just a name, who's afraid of who?"

Ning Lan paused, sizing Danielle up. Then she gave a sarcastic smile.

"Ah, so you're the famous eldest daughter of the Duo family. No wonder you speak so arrogantly."

"But this is Chef Jin's restaurant. If Chef Jin gets upset, you'll find it hard to be welcomed in any of his places in the future."

She nodded slightly towards the side. "Isn't that right, Chef Jin?"
