Chapter 22 - .22

"You're so stingy. It's just that you almost pulled my pants down, and you're pushing me!"

"Zachary, you're such a cheapskate."

Danielle angrily stood in the yard, cursing loudly.

Zachary had just picked up a towel and was about to go into the bathroom when he heard the annoying voice next door.

"Sis Danielle, what happened? Did that man make you angry again?"

"Sis Danielle, that man is so clueless. A useless man still dares to get mad at you. Not like me, even though my awakening talent isn't good, at least I have the cleaning talent, which could help you a lot in the future."

Danielle stared blankly at the suddenly appearing Chu Xiong on the wall.

Wait, is this guy out of his mind?

Before she could retort, Zachary walked over with a cold aura.

"Do you even deserve to enter my house?"

He grabbed Danielle's wrist tightly. "Isn't that right?"

Danielle blinked. "Of course. Didn't I say that you're the only man for me in this lifetime?"

Chu Xiong, again, was triggered and raised his fingers in a huff, pointing at Zachary.

"But Sis Danielle, look at him! He's walking around without a shirt, totally disrespecting manly decorum. Not like me, I always wear clothes tightly, even when I sleep."

Zachary's face darkened. This tea-loving person really wanted to kill him.

Although the men in this world had a lower status, it wasn't like he would be criticized for walking around without a shirt at home.

He pretended to pick up a nearby black knife to throw at him. The face of Chu Xiong on the wall changed instantly and disappeared.

Danielle could still hear a "ouch" sound from next door—maybe he twisted his ankle.

But that wasn't important. Zachary smiled slightly and looked down at Danielle, who was completely captivated and couldn't look away.

"Zachary, you look so good when you smile."

Zachary didn't avoid her gaze this time. He lowered his head and looked at Danielle.

"Do you like it?"

"Yeah, I like it!"

The strong scent of masculinity was like aged wine, intoxicating and irresistible.

In Danielle's mind, a "stinky man" was a man who smelled like sweat, but Zachary was different. Even when covered in sweat, he still smelled like a refreshing pine fragrance.

It was pleasant and very addictive.

Danielle's face turned red, too shy to look into Zachary's eyes.

Zachary's eyes curled with a smile. "Since you like it, then..."

"Ah!"

Danielle exclaimed as Zachary suddenly picked her up.

Before she knew it, he had pressed her onto the sofa. Danielle nervously pushed against his chest.

"I... I thought you didn't want me to touch you?"

Zachary lowered his head and buried his face in her shoulder, his breath warm and steady on her skin.

Danielle had never experienced something like this, and goosebumps instantly covered her body.

A low laugh echoed from Zachary's chest and spread through her entire being.

"You can't do it outside."

Does this mean it's okay in the room?

Danielle froze, still not fully processing what he meant when she felt a chill at her waist...

Oh no, my clothes!

"No, wait, you haven't taken a shower yet!"

Danielle was a little embarrassed. She had a bold heart but lacked the courage to go all the way.

To put it simply, she had big eyes but a small stomach.

Zachary paused for a moment, deliberately rubbing his sweat on Danielle's clothes.

"Now you're dirty too. How about... we shower together?"

Danielle's face turned bright red in an instant.

Zachary gently held her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze.

"Don't tell me you're not brave enough? Just talking?"

"Who? Who said that?"

Danielle gritted her teeth. Sleeping? What's the big deal about sleeping?

He's my man, so it's only natural... and legal!

"Fine, then let's do it!"

Zachary's voice was deep and tinged with amusement. "We'll go to my room later."

Danielle felt unusually hot, and she couldn't figure out why.

"Mom and Dad, what are you doing?" a sleepy voice came from above.

Danielle felt the man on top of her freeze, and as she heard footsteps running downstairs, she quickly pushed Zachary away.

"Get up, hurry."

A drop of sweat from Zachary fell on Danielle's neck, and Zachary gritted his teeth, replying, "Wait a minute!"

"Wait for what? Rain will be coming soon."

Danielle pushed him again, but as she moved, she realized something strange.

There seemed to be something there.

And it was... big.

Before she could fully see, Zachary jumped up, looking like he'd returned to normal.

"Rain, why are you up?"

Rain tilted his head and looked at them. "Dad, why were you lying on top of Mom?"

"Oh, your mom hurt her ankle while going downstairs. Dad was just checking it for her."

"Oh."

Rain nodded obediently and snuggled into Danielle's arms.

"Mom, are you okay?"

Zachary looked at Danielle, only to find her staring at his lower body.

His face darkened.

This woman, with the child still here.

"Ahem."

He turned his body slightly. "Danielle, Rain is talking to you."

"Oh, oh, oh, Rain, can you repeat that? I didn't hear you clearly."

In Danielle's mind, that image of... something big was still there.

Oh no.

It was big.

Rain repeated himself, and Danielle finally nodded awkwardly.

"Yes, yes, I hurt my ankle, but it's fine now. Come on, let's go to sleep."

No matter how much Danielle was craving, she couldn't think about that kind of thing with the child awake.

She couldn't help but glance at Zachary again, reluctant to take her eyes off.

What a shame tonight.

Zachary's face first turned black, then red, and his fists clenched.

This woman would eventually learn the consequences of teasing a man like that.

That night, Zachary wasn't the only one who couldn't sleep.

At breakfast the next morning, aside from Rain, who was full of energy, both Danielle and Zachary looked a bit tired.

"Zachary, are you still planning to go hunting dangerous beasts today? We're not short on money now. Why don't we..."

Danielle was about to mention the tomatoes in their space, but Zachary interrupted her.

"I still want to go. I saw online that there's a way to awaken latent abilities. The more dangerous it is, the better."

"I disagree. I won't allow it."

Danielle firmly refused. "That's nonsense."

She'd seen the post too, but only a few people who tried it had succeeded. Most had barely survived.

Zachary gripped his chopsticks tightly. He knew it would be difficult.

But then, Danielle suddenly remembered something. She moved her fingers, and over a dozen tomatoes appeared on the table.

Zachary looked at her in confusion. "You bought tomatoes again? And this many?"

It wasn't a question, just a genuine curiosity.

He knew Danielle liked cooking and didn't like nutritional fluids.

But she usually bought just five or six, never this many.

Danielle leaned in mysteriously. "Do you remember that Rain awakened his ability yesterday?"

Zachary nodded. He knew very well that his son was much stronger than him.

"He ate these tomatoes before awakening." Danielle winked. "Do you understand what I mean?"
