Prologue -->
The first sign wasn't fire. It was silence.
On the morning of September 3rd, every birds in the world stopping singing. In the cities, people noticed the absence of dogs barking. In the forest, the stillness felt wrong-like the while world had taken a breath and forgotten to exhale.
Then the sky split.
A thin, jagged line of black tore through the clouds above the New York City. Not a storm. Not a plane. A wound in the atmosphere itself. And from it came a sound like grinding against bones.
By nightfall, they came through.
They weren't red or horned or winged-at least not at first. The first demons wore human faces, only a little bit wrong. Their eyes were too dark. Smiles were too wide like Titans in attack on Titan. Voices like static on old radios. They walked among humans unnoticed until they fed. Then came the fires. The chaos. The horns.
Governments fell within few days. Religions were fractured. Technology all around the world failed in strange ways-many cars died mid-freeway, devices started to shutoff, satellites only showed static.
And in the heart of the ruined world, one teenage boy-17 years old-Arther Smith-awoke a sudden terrific power.
