Chapter 71 - Chapter 71:

Chapter 71

Isis said she was a demi-human, and that wasn't wrong.

She really was a demi-human.

Humans of the 2nd Millennium never had lizard tails or pointed ears. But in the galaxy of Warhammer 40,000, aside from the Emperor Himself and His possible consort, how many could truly be called "pure humans" anymore?

"So… what now?"

The Space Marines fell into silence. If the task were to kill an enemy, they could crush heads with their bare hands even without their bolters. But now? They were standing in front of someone who might be a warrior from the Great Crusade era, perhaps even a companion of the Emperor.

This was too complicated. Better to let the Ultramarines next door handle it.

Isis noticed their hesitation.

"Whatever you decide, at least my god has not declared the Imperium an enemy. Your mission is to destroy this planet and prevent it from falling into Chaos hands, correct?"

"Yes," the Inquisitor admitted.

There was no point hiding it. To a psyker of Isis' level, minds were as unprotected as open books.

"Good. Then we share the same goal. I want the criminals of this world."

"What for?"

"Blood sacrifice."

The words sounded disturbing, but the act itself wasn't so foreign. Primitive and feudal worlds still performed such rituals. Even Inquisitors, at times, offered up the blood of enemies as proof of loyalty to the Emperor.

Killing the enemy was, after all, a blood sacrifice in its own way.

But the real question was:

"What is the blood sacrifice for?"

"To summon part of my god's power."

[Mission: Curse Godzilla]

[Task description: Among the Godzillas, there is one unique individual: Diablo Godzilla. He is not born of Godzilla cells, but formed from the souls of the dead of the Pacific War. This beast will now be summoned through blood sacrifice to answer Godzilla's call.]

[Reward: Diablo Godzilla form.]

'Wait—what the hell? White-Eyed Godzilla?'

Yes. Scientific name: Diablo Godzilla.

He comes from Godzilla vs. the Three Sacred Beasts of the Nation, less famous than Dragon Godzilla, but notable as the first time Godzilla appeared as a true villain.

His origins—condensed from countless war-dead souls—gave him a contradictory stance, bouncing between anti-war and anti-defeat themes. Not exactly popular.

Still, his story leaned anti-war: he didn't just smash neon-lit cities but also wrecked Japan's so-called national guardians, the Three Sacred Beasts.

Even King Ghidorah, the Millennial Dragon King, got knocked around.

Most Godzilla stories carry anti-war messages, and Diablo Godzilla never strayed from that.

'And you had to call him Cursed Godzilla. You're doing this on purpose, aren't you?'

In Warhammer 40K, the word "Cursed" evokes the Cursed Founding—those unstable, tragic Space Marine Chapters.

The most infamous among them is the so-called "Cursed Legion," shadowy warriors who appear on doomed battlefields, save broken Imperial forces, and then vanish. Their black armor, carved with fire, bones, and skulls, often makes them look like traitors. Yet their link to the Warp is undeniable.

They would later appear at the 13th Black Crusade, during the Battle of Cadia, tied to the opening of the Blackstone pylons. Their true nature? No one knows. Some say they were the Fire Hawks reborn. Others, that they are loyal spirits of fallen Astartes.

So perhaps the system named Cursed Godzilla after that. Diablo Godzilla too is a body of countless innocent souls.

In short: it's a good reward.

And Godzilla? Godzilla loves rewards!

'But why now—why does the mission appear only after I tore apart the Chaos Titan?'

[You guess.]

Far away, on the prison world, six Warp rifts tore open under the rituals of Chaos cultists. This time it was not Khorne's spawn that emerged. From each portal stepped a Keeper of Secrets—daemons of Slaanesh.

And among them, the most feared:

A projection of Shalaxi Helbane, the Demonic Calamity.

"Ah… the taste of reality."

The towering greater daemon strode forth, spear and buckler in hand, every step radiating twisted grace.

One might dismiss him as just another Keeper of Secrets. But ask any daemon of the Warp: who is the greatest warrior of the Dark Gods?

The answer is unanimous—Shalaxi.

Created by Slaanesh to hunt and defeat the champions of rival Chaos Gods, Shalaxi has bested legends.

Skarbrand, the Exiled One, who once struck Khorne himself.

The Pale Regent and her Death Champion.

Lelith Hesperax, queen of the arenas.

Eldar Phoenix Lords, Harlequin Solitaires… countless others.

Each one stronger than a Space Marine Captain.

Even the Ynnari once needed the power of Ynnead to banish Shalaxi back into the Warp. And the sword critical to their plans remains in Shalaxi's possession to this day.

If Shalaxi fought seriously, he could slay even Fulgrim, the Daemon Primarch of Slaanesh.

He was no joke.

"Lord Shalaxi," a Chaos Space Marine of the Emperor's Children approached. "Godzilla is already engaged with the Titans."

"I know," Shalaxi purred.

The daemon inhaled the faint psychic scent of Eldar souls. Around Isis, a small number of brainwashed Aeldari lingered. They were few, scattered, but to a Keeper of Secrets their presence was unmistakable.

"I will enact the will of my god."

Warp power rippled outward. Isis noticed it instantly.

Her smile froze, then hardened into seriousness.

"Oh… so you dare send him here, Slaanesh."

She licked her lips. A true fight, finally.

But against Shalaxi himself? She couldn't win. She could, however, hold back the other five Keepers.

She sent a psychic signal across the Warp to Katata, still working on Godzilla's world.

"Katata, how are things going?"

"Give me a few more hours."

Katata was finishing her adjustments on Mechagodzilla. Not mere adjustments—she was injecting her power into the construct to awaken it.

Even the Orks wouldn't understand what she had built. But it was coming alive.

"Good. Then I'll deal with these five Keepers. As for Shalaxi… I'll leave him to my god."

Because she had to admit it—she couldn't win. Against Shalaxi, the ceiling of daemonic might, she stood no chance.

Among her people, only the High Priest of the Lizardmen could rival such a foe, a being nearly on par with the Chaos Gods themselves.

But Godzilla?

Godzilla would win. Of that, Isis was certain.
