Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

Chapter 12:

"Incomprehensible!"

Aurora stood seething in the command chamber of the Tau cruiser, frustration written across her features.

"These primitive savages… they've rejected the Greater Good in favor of some monstrous reptile god!"

While the Tau prided themselves on their diplomacy and restraint, that restraint was conditional—anchored in utility. The Greater Good was not a charity; it was a doctrine. And this world, lush and resource-rich, was too valuable to lose.

Aurora's voice sharpened.

"This planet is a paradise. One of hundreds we've scouted—but perhaps the most promising. Within a century, it could serve as a central hub for the Tau Empire. And now some native cult is standing in our way?"

"Commander," an Ethereal's tone came through the vox softly. "We must respect their sovereignty. That is the guidance of the Greater Good."

Aurora's fists clenched behind her back.

"Respect is earned, not given blindly. If they won't walk the same path as the Kroot or Vespid, then they make themselves enemies of the Empire."

The Fire Caste warriors within the chamber straightened at her words.

"Shas'vre Shavita."

"Commander," the tall warrior stepped forward, already anticipating the order.

"Deploy your squad. Show these primitives what Tau technology is capable of."

"Understood."

In the cruiser's armory, Fire Caste warriors donned their combat armor—a sleek synthesis of advanced engineering and battlefield utility. Twin-layered plating of high-density nanocrystal alloys over a thermoset poly-composite inner lining granted both mobility and durability. Beneath the armor was a composite nanofiber undersuit: flame-retardant, chemically shielded, resistant to environmental extremes.

Their helmets, domed and efficient, integrated targeting systems, comms relays, night vision, and interface uplinks. Modular systems allowed for quick upgrades—Black Sun filters, markerlight readers, auto-targeting nodes.

Each warrior carried an ion rifle—Tau-standard issue. Weapons designed to pierce armor and vaporize organic tissue with searing plasma currents. Supporting them were interceptor drones—compact AI units hovering silently, forming a coordinated, autonomous kill-web.

"Fire Caste, the mission is clear. Teach the locals the strength of the Empire. Hold nothing back. For the Greater Good!"

"For the Greater Good!"

Weapons raised, they marched toward the jungle canopy.

But within the ancient temple, Isis had already seen this coming. The pool within the sanctum had shown her all.

"If the Tau truly embodied peace, there'd be no conflict. But they're driven by conquest, cloaked in diplomacy. And this world… this world belongs to Godzilla."

She could feel it—an ancient, colossal presence drawing near. Their god, the supreme guardian of their race, had arrived.

In the jungle, the first ion shot rang out, slamming into a creature nearly three meters tall, scaled like a lizard. But instead of tearing through flesh, the beam dispersed—absorbed by the creature's skin.

System message: All organisms created from Godzilla's cellular template possess inherent energy absorption abilities—capable of absorbing heat, plasma, ion, and similar energy-based attacks.

"What the hell?"

One of the Fire Warriors smacked the side of his rifle, assuming a malfunction.

But the creature turned toward them, growling deep in its throat, and charged on all fours—fast.

"Open fire! Now!"

The squad unleashed a volley. The interceptor drones joined in. Plasma bursts slammed into the creature's hide—most absorbed, until at last, the sheer volume overwhelmed its defenses. It collapsed meters from the line, body riddled with scorched holes.

"Th-that thing took over a dozen hits…"

"Maybe it was the alpha."

The squad leader tried to reassure his team. But as they scanned the treeline, more glowing eyes appeared in the undergrowth.

"Emperor's breath…"

Aurora waited for updates from the forward team—but instead came frantic transmissions.

"Commander! We need immediate shield activation and fire support! The jungle's hostile—repeat, hostile!"

"What?!"

She turned to the sensor display, watching multiple Fire Warrior biosignatures flash red.

"This isn't possible… they were only supposed to be primitives!"

On the ground, Fire Warriors fired as they fell back, dozens of reptilian beasts flanking them through the brush. Claws raked across armor. Jaws snapped at helmets. One warrior looked down to see his armor gouged, blood leaking through the rents.

"Even the foliage is hostile! The trees are alive!"

"What is wrong with this planet?!"

Aboard the ship, massive turrets swiveled, locked, and fired. The jungle exploded in incandescent storms of ionized gas. Fire Warriors shielded their eyes as the clearing ahead became a charred crater. When the clouds dissipated, only scorched corpses of the lizard-beasts remained.

Orbital firepower shifted the balance instantly. The jungle burned under the fury of the Tau.

"Excellent work," Aurora said, voice hard with resolve. "Shavita, sweep the area. Finish this."

But before the warrior could acknowledge, a monstrous roar tore through the jungle.

The comms lit up again—dozens of biosignatures, each massive.

"Commander… we're detecting multiple large-scale bio-entities incoming—wait—there's one… it's huge."

Aurora turned pale as she saw the display. One signature, larger than anything recorded, pulsed on the radar. The name came unbidden to her lips, as if she had known it all her life.

"Godzilla."

The comms went silent.

Across the channel, the name echoed again and again.

Godzilla.

And with it, fear.
