Chapter 76 – Park Date
Morning before Amanda's visit. New City.
The twins were sprawled across the living room floor of Aaron's condo, Jasmine with her Barbie doll—tugging at its dress, brushing out its already tangled hair with brows creased and her tongue peeked out between her side lip, while Hanith flipped through a comic book with keen eyes, his eyes furrowed with every page turn, lost in the wonderland.
The TV hummed softly in the background, some muted cartoon show, forgotten by the kids who were now completely immersed in their own world.
Katherine walked in from the kitchen, carrying a tray of breakfast in her hands. Toast, scrambled eggs, and fruit cut into neat shapes, arranged into smiling faces. It was silly, but the kids always beamed when they saw it.
Aaron, who had been lounging on the couch, his body slouched in some weird angle, leaned over and stole an apple from the tray, grinning mischievously.
