Chapter 4 - Ch 4: Ankylosaurus – The Violet Ranger

*A week later*

Amaris' POV

Today, Father told me he had good news—something about the Dino Gem. I've been waiting patiently in my room ever since. My heart fluttered, though I kept my expression calm. Somehow, I knew this moment would be important.

Then, I heard a soft click at my door.

I stood up as it slowly opened, revealing Father standing tall with that usual elegant composure of his, holding a familiar silver suitcase. My breath caught slightly as he stepped into the room. I remained still until he approached, and when he did, I gave him a small smile, stepped forward, and kissed his cheek.

"Welcome back, Father," I said softly.

He smiled and kissed me gently on the forehead, placing the suitcase down on the table beside us. With a subtle gesture, he motioned for me to sit.

I obeyed with grace, folding my hands neatly over my lap. Father flipped the locks on the suitcase and slowly opened it. Inside was a wristwatch-like device, resting on a velvet bed—elegant and techy, its color a polished silver-lavender with soft violet crystal accents. The shape was slightly bulkier than an average smartwatch, but its sleek, curved design clearly fit a small wrist like mine. A translucent fossil-etched screen shimmered faintly under the room's light, nearly imperceptible unless one truly looked.

The strap resembled a violet leather-like material, edged with subtle bronze-gold lining. The craftsmanship was exquisite. I looked up at Father.

"May I hold it?" I asked.

He nodded. "Of course, dear."

I reached out with care, gently lifting the device from its cushion. The weight felt just right in my hands, not too heavy nor too light.

"This is called a Dino Morpher," Father explained. "Though this version is dormant. When activated, it allows one to transform into a Power Ranger."

I listened attentively, though I already knew what it was. Still, hearing it from him—my father, it held more meaning.

"If you press and slide your finger in a spiral motion over the screen," he said, "it will activate."

"Understood," I replied, slipping the strap around my right wrist.

It hung loose for only a moment—then, to my surprise, it tightened gently, adjusting perfectly to my wrist size.

"Oh my," I murmured.

Father chuckled. "Did that surprise you?"

I pouted, just slightly. "Indeed, it did."

"My apologies, dear," he said, still smiling.

With a breath, I followed his instructions—pressing the center and sliding my finger in a spiral. The watch responded with a gentle pulse of light. Then, the structure began unfolding, mechanical plates sliding over my wrist, encasing it in elegant armor. It was like something out of a dream.

"That," Father said, eyes gleaming, "is your Ankylosaurus Morpher."

He stepped beside me and knelt to my eye level.

"Its form spans from your wrist to mid-forearm," he began, "shaped like a fossil-tech gauntlet—designed for defense and utility. Its appearance mimics the plated armor of an Ankylosaurus, giving it both rugged strength and elegance."

I stared at it in awe, every detail catching the light in fascinating ways.

"The base alloy is a deep, smooth violet—subtly reflective, like polished obsidian. In dim light, it shimmers with indigo and midnight tones. Etched lines run across its surface, like ancient circuitry, glowing bronze-gold when powered."

He pointed to the crystals embedded around the dial and edges.

"These are quartz-like energy cores. They pulse with fossil energy and respond to your bond. The outer plates are segmented, scale-like, styled after Ankylosaurus armor. They feel like solid protection yet remain flexible."

He then gestured to the center dial.

"This is the Temporal Core Dial. It rotates and channels your time energy. There are six runes engraved—Still, Slow, Flow, Heal, Strike, and Balance. Each activates a unique function."

I traced a finger lightly over the dial.

"Here," he added, pointing to the side, "is your Dino Plate Slot. It accepts your Ankylosaurus Plate—this one."

He handed me a thick, hexagonal disc. I recognized the etching immediately—an Ankylosaurus with its tail curled into a spiral. Fossil-like patterns lined its surface. I clutched it gently.

"This is amazing... truly," I whispered.

He smiled at me with warmth.

"I'm glad you think so. You've bonded with the gem, and now, the Morpher has recognized you."

I reached out and hugged him tightly.

"Thank you, Father."

His arms wrapped around me in return, one hand gently patting my back. "You're welcome, dear."

We stayed like that for a moment, the quiet air filled only with the soft hum of the Morpher's dormant pulse.

Then, he pulled away with a grin. "Would you like to try transforming?"

I blinked, then nodded with a slow smile. "Yes, please."

He offered his hand, and I took it.

"Then come. Let us see what my daughter can do."

My heart skipped with excitement. We walked out of the room, hand in hand.

Third Person POV

In the spacious training hall lined with sleek panels and fossil-themed insignias, Xavier Shin stood with his hands calmly folded behind his back, watching his daughter with a gaze both steady and reverent. The light from the ceiling danced along the polished floor, casting gentle reflections around the room. At the center, Amaris stood composed, her small frame dwarfed by the large, open space—but her presence filled it entirely.

Xavier's voice broke the silence, low and warm. "When you're ready, Amaris," he said, the weight of the moment resting gently in his tone. "Speak the words. Let it respond to you."

Amaris gave a small nod and drew a steady breath. The Ankylosaurus Dino Morpher glinted faintly under the lights. Her fingers, calm and deliberate, reached for the hexagonal fossil disc—the Ankylo Dino Plate. She slid it into the slot.

Click.

A light mechanical sound echoed through the chamber, followed by a gentle hum that resonated in the air. The runes around the Temporal Core Dial began to glow one by one, faint at first, then gradually brighter, each pulse syncing with her heartbeat.

She grasped the dial and calmly turned it.

Click.

Still.

Click.

Slow.

Click.

Flow.

Click.

Heal.

Click.

Strike.

Click.

Balance.

When the dial locked into place, landing on Balance, a distinct shift occurred—the glowing energy changed from a pale violet to a brilliant lavender, swirling with an almost ethereal luster. The Morpher pulsed, ready. Amaris lifts her Dino Morpher gracefully with both hands in front of her chest like she's cradling time itself.

With a gentle, precise motion, she extends her right arm diagonally across her body and points it outward, palm open, as if slowing time itself.

"If you would, Ankylosaurus… lend me your strength."

The room answered with light.

It began softly, like the shimmer of early dawn, but quickly blossomed into radiant rings of lavender flame. They encircled her like protective halos—transparent gears materializing from nothing, spinning through the air with ancient grace, mechanisms of time itself folding in place.

Her hair floated gently, caught in the updraft of rising energy. A quiet wind swirled through the room despite its sealed structure. The ground shimmered beneath her as the transformation began.

The armor formed with perfect precision.

Boots materialized first—solid violet with bronze-gold accents. Then the chest plate, locking into place with a soft, magnetic snap—an elegant fusion of strength and beauty, sculpted to mimic the plated hide of her dinosaur partner. Violet crystal trim shimmered along the curves, glinting with every pulse of power.

Gauntlets came next, forming around her arms with a shimmer and a shift of layered plates—fossilized tech imbued with purpose. And finally, the helmet descended like a crown from the energy above, shaped with the distinct features of the Ankylosaurus: sleek, protective, and proud. Its visor glowed with an inner light, fierce yet calm—just like her.

In that moment, Xavier saw something shift in his daughter. There was no longer just the brilliant, refined child he had raised. There was power now—confidence, legacy, and destiny all woven into the frame of an eight-year-old girl clad in armor meant for legends.

Amaris turned slowly toward him, the violet light now dimming to a soft glow. Her stance was firm, centered—perfect balance in every line of her small figure. From within the helmet, her voice came through the comms clear and unwavering.

"Did I do it… correctly?"

Xavier's mouth lifted in a rare, full smile. His chest swelled, pride clear in his expression as he stepped forward and placed a hand gently on her armored shoulder.

"You did it perfectly, dear."

And with that, the Violet Ranger stood—small but strong, graceful and unwavering. A new chapter had begun.
