Chapter 60 - After One Week

Now the news of Jai's death had spread across the world.

As soon as Divya ji heard the news, she rushed from London to India. Except for Aman and Shanti, everyone had come to know about the tragic incident. Prominent businessmen and influential figures from various sectors had arrived at Jai's bungalow to offer their condolences.

Outside Jai's bungalow, a crowd of reporters had gathered.

As Divya ji stepped out of her car, her bodyguards immediately surrounded her, shielding her from the media and escorting her inside.

Inside, the bungalow was filled with businessmen and well-wishers. Everyone was speaking to Dipali ji…

Everyone was busy talking to Dipali ji when suddenly Divya ji entered the bungalow.

As soon as the businessmen saw her, they all turned their attention toward her and began speaking to her.

The same Dipali ji, who had been the center of attention until moments ago, was now completely ignored—no one even glanced in her direction. Feeling neglected and humiliated, she quietly rubbed her hands together and walked back to her room.

All the financiers and investors expressed their condolences to Divya ji.

But beneath the sympathy, there was a visible fear in their eyes—the fear of losing their money after Jai's untimely death.

Divya ji, composed and calm, assured them with her words, "Jai's departure won't affect your investments. I will make sure everything remains secure."

Her confidence and assurance gave them the trust they needed, and soon, their worried expressions began to soften.

About two hours later, a silence fell over the bungalow.

Divya ji made her way to Shivani's bedroom. After giving Shivani a sedative to calm her down, she gently sat beside her, caressing her hair and softly said,

"Shivani beta…"

Hearing her voice, Shivani turned to look at her. The moment she saw Divya ji, she broke into tears and cried out,

"Maasi…"

Divya ji hugged her tightly and said, "Calm down, child. No one can stop the one who is destined to leave."

But pulling away, Shivani looked at her with desperate eyes and said, "No Maasi, he hasn't gone anywhere. He told me he'd come back… He promised… he will come."

No matter how much everyone tried to console her, Shivani only kept repeating one thing—

"He will come back."

Aditya too kept crying, softly saying "Jeepa… Jeepa…" again and again, until he made himself sick.

The police investigated the accident site and found torn pieces of Jai's clothes. Bloodstains on those pieces matched Jai's blood type, confirming that he had died in the accident.

But even after this, Shivani refused to believe it.

Three days passed like that—slow and painful.

Divya ji eventually had to return to London, leaving Shivani under Dipali ji's care.

Aditya's health had also begun to improve slightly.

But just a day after Divya ji's departure, Dipali showed her true colors.

She fired all the servants and maids from the bungalow.

Even Jai's personal bodyguards were dismissed. She locked all the rooms except her own.

She stopped Aditya from going to school.

She took away Shivani's mobile phone and switched it off, cutting her off from the outside world.

Dipali made Shivani do all the household chores.

For food, she would only give them one onion and two dry rotis each for lunch and dinner.

Shivani would always give her share to Aditya, but Aditya, pointing at her stomach, would say, "But you must be hungry too…"

With tears in her eyes, Shivani would quietly eat just one roti.

Dipali didn't even provide clean drinking water.

So the two siblings had to drink from the garden tap that was used for watering the plants.

The truth was, Jai had transferred all his property in Shivani's name.

Dipali had found this out while Jai was still alive. That's why she had been trying to get Shivani's signatures on the property papers.

When Shivani refused to sign, Dipali threatened her by choking Aditya's neck.

Terrified, Shivani finally gave in and signed the documents.

But that wasn't all—Dipali subjected Shivani to endless cruelty.

It was, in fact, Dipali who had orchestrated Jai's murder all along.

One week later, in a small, dimly lit house, a man slowly regained consciousness.

That man… was none other than Jai.

Just before the helicopter exploded, the pilot had received a phone call. The caller was none other than Dipali.

She had instructed the pilot to kill Jai. But somehow, Jai came to know about this plan. Moments before the explosion, he jumped out of the helicopter. As he leapt, he hit a rock and fell straight into a river. The river's strong current swept him far away, carrying him from one district to another.

About a week later, in a modest little house, a young girl—around 19 years old—cried out,

"Bapu! Look! Babu has woken up!"

Hearing her voice, her parents rushed inside the room. As they entered, Jai, barely conscious, asked in a faint voice,

"Who are you?"

The man stepped forward and replied,

"Son, my name is Dhaniram, and this is my wife, Bijliya."

Jai, still confused, asked again,

"How did I get here?"

Dhaniram explained,

"Son, I was at the river washing clothes when I found you. You were badly injured and unconscious. So I brought you home. We cared for you, looked after you day and night. And today, after a whole week, you've finally regained consciousness."

Then Jai asked the most important question,

"Who am I?"

Dhaniram and his wife exchanged a silent, worried glance. Dhaniram took a deep breath and said,

"Son, don't you remember anything at all?"

Jai shook his head slowly.

Dhaniram smiled and continued,

"Then listen, son. You are our future son-in-law. You're the man meant to marry our only daughter, Bela."

Bela, who had been standing nearby, looked utterly shocked at her father's words. Jai, even more surprised, muttered,

"Husband… what does that mean?"

Dhaniram laughed and explained gently,

"It means husband and wife. Marriage."

Jai clutched his head in confusion. A sudden, sharp pain surged through his skull.

Dhaniram quickly comforted him,

"Don't think too much, son. You've had a serious head injury. Just rest for now."

He helped Jai lie back down, and soon Jai drifted off to sleep again.

Later, in a quiet corner of the room, Bijliya whispered to her husband,

"Why did you lie to him? He's not our daughter's fiancé."

Dhaniram looked around cautiously and replied,

"He doesn't remember anything—not his name, not where he's from. He's like a blank slate."

Bijliya looked uneasy,

"But what if his family comes looking for him? What will we do then?"

Dhaniram dismissed her concern,

"What's the worry? His family probably thinks he's dead. They must have even performed his last rites by now. They've likely forgotten all about him."

Still hesitant, Bijliya said,

"I don't feel right about this."

Dhaniram, now slightly irritated, said,

"Look at the boy—he's handsome, he looks just like a movie hero. We've searched so long for a good match for Bela, but no one agreed to marry her. And even if someone did, they demanded such a huge dowry that I'd have to sell myself to arrange it. But now, God has sent this boy into our lives… maybe to lessen our burden."

He took a deep breath and declared,

"I've made my decision. Before the festival of Karva Chauth, we'll get Bela married to him. That's final."

Bijliya still looked unsure, but Dhaniram had already made up his mind.
