Chapter 4 - Fallen into his trap

Azalea could tell he was gifted just by the overwhelming aura emanating from his body.

Despite her better judgment being near him tempted Azalea to let down her guard and lean towards him.

Being around the gifted was like that, exemplary beings that excelled in every subject while being aloof and haughty.

Everything about them was perfect, as if sculpted from a different mold than the rest of us normal folks.

Right now his hazel eyes stared at Azalea from beneath winged black eyebrows.

Those mesmerizing orbs never left her face, he continued to look at Azalea with cold, calculating eyes as if measuring her very worth.

Just like he did across the examination hall, he never once blinked or looked self conscious while observing her every move.

He asked gently, "Shouldn't you be going to collect your package? Why are you heading this way?

"My mental powers awoke for the first time today. As expected I just felt a bit drained and was heading to the bathroom to freshen up. So no need to worry and I'm sorry if I was of any trouble to you."

After much thought the guy responded hastily, "I understand. Normally I wouldn't go out of my way. This place is pretty big. Are you sure you don't need my assistance locating the restroom?"

"No I don't. We can see the sign for the restroom from over here."

Azalea wasn't telling a lie a few feet away a large stick woman painted in red on the nearby wall pointed the way to a large restroom filled with several toilet stalls.

"Well, don't let me keep you then."

"Okay."

Azalea wanted to run but instead she walked as fast as she could until she was out of sight.

The young man never moved from where they stood even when the door closed behind her.

Everything about him would have come off like a mannequin, every movement perfectly orchestrated as expected of someone his caliber.

Except he could not hide the interest in his eyes, even as she walked away his hot gaze scorched her entire body.

Azalea recognized the heated, sticky gaze as hot blooded lust that he didn't even try to hide.

The gifted could have any female they wanted but it made Azalea feel uncomfortable because she didn't normally attract someone of quality, just scumbags and losers.

All her pores screamed "run!"

The longer she stayed in his presence the more red flags she felt.

Deliberate or not he oozed charm and definitely inspired raw sensuality with that hot-blooded gaze and gorgeous, muscular body.

With her low mental energy, she wondered what drew him to her.

In her opinion there's nothing impressive about her features that would make her stand out from the crowd.

To her surprise, when she came out of the restroom he was still waiting outside.

"You look much better. Now that you're fine, let's go collect our packages together."

"Alright."

They only walked a few steps further in silence when he asked, "I'd really love the opportunity to get to know you better. Can we go out for coffee later?"

Was he asking her out on a date?

Normally, she would admire a go-getter but not when the object being chased was her, she didn't even know his name and he was acting so tenacious.

Looking him squarely in the eyes she asked him, "why should I?"

This guy was top tier with his movie star looks and there were still eager looking females lingering around the huge property hoping to catch his eye but he paid them no mind.

Amused by her unexpected look of defiance, he snorted lightly.

"Why?" he repeated. "It's because I am curious about you."

There was honesty in those words that seemed simple but her brain couldn't compute.

"It just doesn't make sense. Anyone unless they are blind can see that you are a part of the gifted class and I don't even know your name."

"Oh, my bad. I never meant to hide that I'm gifted."

"Then there is no reason to bother getting to know each other, my world will never collide with yours."

"I believe that's where you are wrong. I don't see any reason for us not to go out later."

"I'm known for being blunt so let's not waste each other's time. If you ask anyone from Meadowbrook I'm jilted, damaged goods. If you heard the gossip…"

He cut her off, "I don't pay attention to rumors since I'm quite capable of making my own judgements. You are Azalea Lily Blume, illegitimate daughter of Mikhail Blume. A null devoid of mental magic until today, by the way Happy Birthday Azalea."

He flashed perfect teeth, a lovely smile when he wished her happy birthday except she couldn't find pleasure when he practically summed up her life in a few words.

"How… how did you get this information?"

"You are an open book and I find you irresistible."

"Stop doing that!"

"What?"

"Turning the conversation sexual like some horny old goat."

He laughed. "It's the first time someone has called me a tease to my face."

Well if the cap fits… Azalea's face was now twisted out of proportion, even though they were now out in the open it felt like no one else was around.

She still didn't know this bastard's name as he did his best to provoke and shatter her composure.

It felt like this was a game to him and she had conveniently fallen into his trap for him to make such a statement with a straight face.

"You're wasting my time, I need to collect my package and I find you rude and inconsiderate."

"Did the truth hurt your feelings?"

Why were all the gifted such arrogant beings that felt that they could do and say whatever they pleased and get away with it.

"I don't know what you think you heard about me. I'm sure whatever it was, you misunderstood. I'm not into arrogant guys who are gifted so stop wasting both our time."

There was a flash of anger in those hazel eyes that if she blinked Azalea would have missed it.
