A long story? A short one? What was the Queen even saying?
Ember was not following.
When Khaos had told her about the Blood Bane Ritual, Ember had no reason to believe he was lying. But she never bore the thought that the Queen also knew of the same.
Ember swallowed. "What story is there?"
Darkened sapphire blue eyes flitted to her. "All these years you've been guessing what relationship I've with your mother, right? Tell me your strongest guess?" She demanded.
Ember gulped, sucking in a deep breath. "I believe your connection with my mother has something to do with your one year disappearance when you were thirteen."
"I suppose Nyra Velandris must have run her mouth to you when she was in Vaskor. But yes, you're not entirely wrong. My connection with your mother had something to do with that time, more or so. But ours was a connection that had no choice but to thrive."
