Kyouko was just pouring another cup of tea when Mrs. Minami leaned in, lowering her voice enough to signal that something juicy was about to drop.
"You know…?" she began, eyes gleaming. "I saw Kyouko-chan at the supermarket a few months ago…"
The room stilled, the chatter dimming as a few heads turned her way.
Minami's grin widened. "She wasn't alone. She was with this handsome young man, tall, lean, well-built. Definitely younger. Too good-looking to be her husband, that's for sure."
Gasps and quick murmurs rippled through the group.
"Really?"
"No way!"
"Tell us everything!"
Minami nodded eagerly, proud of the attention. "Oh yes~ I couldn't stop staring! They looked so close, walking side by side, carrying groceries together. He even pushed the cart for her like a gentleman!"
Every gaze in the room shifted to Kyouko.
Her hand froze midair. The biscuit nearly slipped from her grasp.
