After reporting on the Chunin Exam preparations, Kurenai Yuhi gave Sasame another charming glare before leaving.
About half an hour later, a knock sounded. Sasame put down the file he was holding and called out, "Come in."
The door opened, and Hinata Hyuga entered.
"Is the clan meeting over?" Sasame asked with a smile.
"Yes," Hinata Hyuga nodded. "It just finished."
"Have some water." Sasame got up, poured her a glass of plain water, and said, "Your performance at the clan meeting was excellent."
Hinata Hyuga lowered her head, slightly embarrassed. Clutching the cup, she replied, "It was all thanks to Big Brother Sasame's teaching."
"Teaching is one thing, but what's important is that you listened and put it into practice," Sasame said, reaching out to pat her head with a smile. "You are only twelve, and you have already surpassed most of your peers."
Hinata Hyuga couldn't suppress the joy in her heart, and her lips curled into a gentle smile. She nodded firmly and said, "I will work hard!"
"You don't need to work yourself too hard, though." Sasame shook his head. "If you're always tense, you'll burn out. You need to rest occasionally and balance work with leisure, understand?"
"Yes," Hinata Hyuga answered instinctively.
But given her personality, getting her to go out and have fun would probably be difficult. Sasame thought for a moment and decided to take her out on two easy missions after the Chunin Exam. For now, though, she definitely wouldn't agree. Since she had signed up for the Chunin Exam, she wouldn't relax even if success was guaranteed.
"Big Brother Sasame," Hinata Hyuga continued, as she didn't know what he was thinking. "Hiroyuki Hyuga was arrested for attacking Father and is now with the Anbu."
"You did very well." Sasame had already witnessed the event at the clan meeting, but her complete execution of the plan was commendable. Furthermore, Hiashi Hyuga hadn't objected, which proved his current attitude. Although Sasame was overwhelmingly powerful, Hiashi Hyuga knew what to do when trading a pair of Byakugan for the future security of the Hyuga Clan.
"Big Brother Sasame, are you really planning to kill him?" Hinata Hyuga looked up and asked. She naturally had no affection for Hiroyuki Hyuga. This question was actually what Hiashi Hyuga wanted to know, as he was curious about the purpose of the Byakugan.
Sasame understood his subtle concerns. He smiled and asked, "Hinata, do you know that the Byakugan can evolve?"
Hinata Hyuga paused, a thoughtful expression on her face, but the clan records she had read provided no answer. As the Main House heir and next Clan Leader, Hiashi Hyuga certainly wouldn't have hidden anything from her. This suggested that no one in the Hyuga Clan knew about it.
Hinata Hyuga shook her head and asked, "Big Brother Sasame, do you mean the Byakugan can evolve?"
"That's right." Sasame didn't hide the fact. If research bore fruit, it would certainly be for the Hyuga Clan's use. As for Hinata Hyuga, it wouldn't be as complicated for her. He could just take her to the moon later. He was mainly concerned that the research by Kabuto Yakushi might take too long or might not result in the complete version of the evolution.
Hinata Hyuga looked astonished. She trusted Sasame, so she believed it was true. But if the Hyuga Clan didn't know this, how did he? If it could evolve, what would that evolution look like? However, she didn't ask, obediently waiting for Sasame's answer. Her personality had changed, but her dependence on Sasame had only deepened. It was no exaggeration to say it surpassed her connection to the Hyuga Clan.
Sasame stroked her head and said, "The specifics are still being researched. I'll tell you more when the time is right."
Hinata Hyuga agreed without hesitation. "Okay."
"I'll take you home," Sasame said with a smile. "You worked hard all morning; you need to rest." He bent down, picked up Hinata Hyuga, and vanished.
The sudden warmth caught Hinata Hyuga completely off guard. By the time she realized what happened, her face was bright red.
"It's been a while since I've seen that adorable look on your face," Sasame said, setting her down and pinching her warm cheek. "See you next time."
Back in the Hokage's office, Kurenai Yuhi was waiting.
"There's a big matter. The Hyuga Clan sent Elder Hiroyuki Hyuga to the Anbu, claiming he attacked the Clan Leader," she said with a serious expression. "Do we need to launch an investigation?" The Hyuga Clan was currently the largest ninja clan in the Hidden Leaf Village, and Hiroyuki Hyuga was the only Elder of the Main House. Kurenai Yuhi felt a disturbance and quickly came to report it.
"Don't worry." Sasame grinned. "I already know the whole story."
"That's a relief." Kurenai Yuhi let out a breath. The last thing she wanted was trouble in the Hidden Leaf Village, as she didn't want to change her current life. She was doing quite well.
"This is the list of ninja villages confirmed to participate in the joint Chunin Exam," Kurenai Yuhi said, handing him a file. Sasame scanned it, and it was pretty much as expected. Aside from the Hidden Stone, Hidden Cloud, and other overly distant villages, most planned to attend. The joint Chunin Exam was a platform for the Five Great Nations to showcase their strength, but it was even more important for the smaller villages, who rarely got such opportunities. If they could shine in the joint Chunin Exam, they could bring renown to their villages and potentially gain unexpected rewards.
"There's one more thing," Kurenai Yuhi continued after he finished reading. "This is the route plan for the second stage, sent over by the Hidden Mist Village."
Sasame took the map and opened it. It started in the eastern part of the Land of Fire, formed an arc, and eventually reached the western side of the Land of Water. The route wasn't entirely over the sea; there were numerous desolate islands for rest or battle.
"We'll use this route," Sasame nodded. He added, "The participating Genin are not allowed to use any means of transportation and must travel on foot." Even without combat, just making it to the destination within the allotted time would be an accomplishment. The goal was to maximize training and development. After all, there would only be a few winners. Most should simply aim to do their best.
Kurenai Yuhi noted this down, picked up the file, and held it to her chest. "Any other instructions?"
"Thank you for your hard work, big sis Kurenai," Sasame said with a smile. "You should go rest."
"I'm not as idle as you are," Kurenai Yuhi teased. "I'm very busy." That was true. Most of the petty matters in the Hidden Leaf Village were currently handled by the secretary team. The important ones were then selected and reported to the Hokage.
"Then, do you need me to reward you?" Sasame raised an eyebrow and asked.
Kurenai Yuhi just glared at him and turned to leave, not giving him a chance to flirt. As she reached the door, she poked her head back in and said, "I already took your change of clothes."
Sasame immediately smiled. After she left, he stretched. Having finished all the files on his desk, he decided not to stay at the office.
Sasame thought for a moment and then appeared in the Land of Fire's capital city. His focus had shifted from the Land of Snow, so Kaguya Ōtsutsuki was now also in the capital city. She really liked the newly renovated city, finding it quite novel. Although only half-finished, the shadows of his past life were already visible: wide streets, beautiful houses, and colorful neon lights.
Sasame knocked on the door. After getting permission, he opened it. He was immediately surprised. Kaguya Ōtsutsuki was standing in front of a mirror. She was wearing a red qipao and was posing in different ways.
"Who bought that?" Sasame asked curiously. Normally, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki only wore the clothes he bought for her.
"Koyuki Fūka. She said you would like it." Kaguya Ōtsutsuki turned around, lifted the hem of the qipao to reveal her snow-white thighs, and asked, "Do you like it?"
Sasame took a sharp breath, nodded, and said, "I love it. I love you in any clothes."
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki then suddenly bent down. In front of Sasame, she slowly put on a pair of black stockings. Wow!Koyuki Fūka, you taught her well! Sasame's heart swelled with excitement. The most alluring part was that Kaguya Ōtsutsuki's expression remained cool and sacred while she did these things. There was no seduction, but it was exceptionally captivating. It was a completely different experience, as if a celestial immortal had been forced to please a mortal. Sasame mentally decided he needed to properly reward Koyuki Fūka later.
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki slowly walked toward Sasame. The friction of her black stockings on the carpet made a faint sound. The qipao completely accentuated her voluptuous figure as she moved. While it wasn't the pear shape of Tsunade, she was tall, which offered a different kind of charm.
"Is there something you needed today?" Kaguya Ōtsutsuki stopped and reached out, stroking Sasame's face.
"No," Sasame quickly shook his head. At a moment like this, any major matter could wait. Even the destruction of the ninja world would have to be put on hold.
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki smiled slightly. As time passed, her face, like the messy qipao on her body, became flushed with a deep, rich color.
It wasn't until night fell that Sasame stood up from her back. He glanced at the sleeping Kaguya Ōtsutsuki and smiled. His Sage Body had improved significantly again. It really did take Kaguya Ōtsutsuki for him to feel such a noticeable change.
Sasame turned, his gaze falling out the window, and he immediately met eyes with Koyuki Fūka. He beckoned to her. Koyuki Fūka immediately approached.
The rain had stopped, and the wind had died down. There was a lot of clutter on the floor. Koyuki Fūka immediately knelt down to clean it up. Although she was the ruler of a nation, she was willing to act as a maid in front of Sasame.
Sasame looked down at her. She was wearing a kimono, neatly dressed with thick eyeliner and red lips. She must have just gotten off work. On a normal day, she wouldn't be so formally dressed. The lipstick was smeared all over Sasame's body, but he didn't mind. After all, Koyuki Fūka was working so diligently to clean up. Sasame patted her head as a reward. Koyuki Fūka squeezed out a smile in response.
Since standing was a bit tiring, Sasame simply sat down. The area had just been cleaned, so it wasn't dirty. However, there were scattered black stockings not far away. They belonged to Kaguya Ōtsutsuki but were now unusable, torn with a large hole.
Koyuki Fūka let out a sigh, her lipstick much faded now. She wiped the sweat from her forehead, sat down in front of Sasame, and said, "Good evening, Lord Sasame."
Sasame wrapped his arms around her slender waist. "You've been working hard lately." Even though he hadn't been in the capital city, the changes were clearly visible. Koyuki Fūka deserved the most credit for this. Even Uzumaki Ena was a notch below her. Koyuki Fūka was undeniably talented, especially in governance.
"It's not hard at all," Koyuki Fūka said, moving closer to lean against him.
Sasame was filled with a sense of awe. He realized that the women around him were all incredibly hardworking, which made him look lazy. But lazy or not, he never slackened when it mattered most. For instance, right now, he made sure Koyuki Fūka was thoroughly satisfied.
"Lord Sasame," Koyuki Fūka said, with tears welling up in her eyes. "I want to be like Big Sister Mikoto."
"No problem," Sasame said, patting her beautiful back. Koyuki Fūka smiled, clearly pleased. Sasame picked her up, laid her on the bed, and said, "Get some good rest."
He left the room and glanced at a nearby room. This was the back courtyard of the Land of Fire's royal palace. No one came here, except for the distinguished guests who lived here. Sasame hadn't set up a sound-dampening barrier for this reason.
He walked to the room that was still lit and pushed the door open. Mikoto Uchiha was not at all surprised by his arrival. She stood up, a gentle smile on her face.
"It's cold at night," Mikoto Uchiha said, pulling out a coat and helping Sasame put it on. "Don't catch a cold."
"Thank you, Aunt Mikoto." Sasame looked at her flushed cheeks and couldn't help but lean in and give her a peck.
"Eat first," Mikoto Uchiha said after a slight pause. "I made you a late-night meal. It will get cold if you don't eat now."
"When did you make this?" Sasame asked, looking at the food on the table.
"While you were talking to Koyuki," Mikoto Uchiha said softly, looking at him. "I was worried you hadn't eaten, so I prepared some food for you."
"You are pregnant now. Leave these tasks to the servants," Sasame said, holding her hand.
"It's no trouble," Mikoto Uchiha couldn't help but smile. "It's only been a few months; you don't need to worry so much."
Sasame glared at her. "It doesn't matter."
Mikoto Uchiha's smile widened, and she spoke in a tone one uses to soothe a child. "Okay, okay, I'll listen to you."
Sasame nodded in satisfaction. He picked up his chopsticks, picked up a piece of fried shrimp, and said, "You eat first." But he tossed it into his own mouth instead. Mikoto Uchiha's face flushed, but she leaned in. A few minutes later, after chewing the fried shrimp, she said, "I'm not hungry. You eat everything." At this rate, they wouldn't finish until dawn, and that would interfere with things.
Sasame didn't insist further and finished his meal quickly. Since his body carried a strong scent, he and Mikoto Uchiha took a shower together. When they finished, it was already morning. He didn't go home but went straight to the Hokage's office.
Kurenai Yuhi brought in the list of candidates from the various ninja villages participating in the exam. Sasame glanced through it and saw many familiar names. With this, the preliminary preparations for the joint Chunin Exam were essentially complete, and they just had to wait for the day of the event to arrive.
