Adam's surprise faded into a small smile.
'I chose a good bodyguard.' Adam thought.
Then another thought rose behind that one.
Leo was useful, but he was strange.
He took dangerous work for money without asking many questions. Yet he did not look like a man who enjoyed wealth. His clothes were almost always the same type. His shoes were practical. Even his small habits did not feel like someone who spent money for comfort.
So where did the money go?
Adam remembered the stories from the future. Leo had been caught more than once. Even now, he had been inside prison. Most of those cases had one thing in common: money.
Leo always moved when money was involved.
'Why does he need it so badly?' Adam thought.
He did not have the answer.
And this was not the place to dig for it.
Kael noticed the change in Adam's face but did not turn back.
He released Adam's hand and sat down again.
Silas pushed the satellite phone box toward Adam.
"Take it," Silas said. "But listen carefully."
