Chapter 7 - Jaden

The moment that he got back home, considering that doctors had already began setting in, he was charged a little expensive compared to before.

[You have spent $11 on traveling. Investment detected. Rebate activated. You have received $110.]

After receiving that prompt, the amount of money that he currently had had increased to $14,043.

After getting out of the taxi, Sean immediately headed upstairs, into the apartment that they owned. The moment that he got inside, he heard a conversation between his parents.

"What should we do? Those crooks will never listen. That's why I told you that we should get the loan from somewhere else instead of them." Abigail stated.

"Where were we supposed to get such an amount of money? There is no one that was willing to give us that money at that time. It was impossible for us to be able to wait any longer." Michael responded.

Abigail wanted to say something, but when she noticed that Sean had come back, she did not say anything. Instead, she simply sighed, as she understood that just as Michael had said, they really did not have any other option at that time.

It was just that she was getting a little frustrated from the pressure that the crooks were putting on them. Additionally, the amount of money that they owed them kept on increasing, and from the reputation of that gang, she knew the consequences of not paying back the amount that they asked for.

"Where are you coming from?" Michael asked as he looked at Sean.

"I was having a meeting with my friend. He asked me to go and meet him today. So, after a little discussion, he gave me a few bucks so that I can deal with the situation, before getting myself involved with his business." Sean responded.

Michael frowned slightly. He was not really sure about what Sean was getting involved in, but considering that Sean was an adult, it was impossible for him to limit everything that he did.

"Then you better use that money to make sure that you look presentable. Don't try wasting that money, make sure that you don't end up losing this opportunity." Abigail stated.

Sean understood that his parents did not have any intention of asking him to give them the money that he currently had, in order to repay the loans that they owed. They understood that this was a burden that they had to take care of, and they were unwilling to pass it on to Sean.

"He gave me enough money to be able to repay the debt that we have. That is the current main problem that we are having." Sean stated. At the same time, he immediately began making the transfer.

"Just listen to what your mother has said. Don't worry about the debt. We will be paying it, we'll just find a way of doing it." Michael stated with a sigh.

A few seconds later, there was a notification from his phone. He took it out, and the moment that he saw the message, he could not help but be dumbfounded.

He checked the message several times, wanting to confirm that what he had read was actually true. He looked up, looking at Sean before asking, "Where did you get all this amount of money?"

Abigail, upon seeing the expression on her husband's face, she immediately approached, and took the phone from his hand. And when she looked at the message, she also exclaimed with astonishment, "Goodness! Sean, are you sure that you are not involved in something illegal?"

Sean had already anticipated this. He had made a transfer of $5,000 to his father's account. He understood that this amount of money was something that would be found to be unbelievable, especially if he claimed that his friend had given him.

But right now, he did not really have any other reason that he could give to explain the origin of the money.

So, he simply nodded his head and said, "That's part of the salary that I have received. It is an advance payment, and I am expected to repay that through putting a lot of effort in doing what I would be assigned to do."

The couple was shocked by what they heard. This was the first time that they had seen such a huge amount of money in a long time.

"How many months have you been paid in advance?" Michael asked, his voice trembling slightly. He was feeling that he had failed as a father.

"He told me that this amount is for 2 months. But my salary will be increased later on as long as I perform well." Sean responded.

He understood that in order for his parents to believe, it would be impossible for him to claim that this amount of money was for only a single month. After all, just what kind of skills would be required for someone to be paid such an amount of money for working for a single month?

Michael took a deep breath, finding it difficult to believe. After some hesitation, he said, "There is no need for you to put a lot of pressure on yourself. I'm transferring this money back to you. Better find something to use it for."

"That's right. You just came out of college a year ago, and you still need to buy a lot of things. That is especially if you are going to get married soon. You can decide to save this money, and use it later on." Abigail seconded.

"Don't worry, I have $1,000 here with me. It should be enough to be able to deal with the situation right now. More than that, there are more months to come, and with the salary that I will be receiving, I should be able to buy whatever I need later on." Sean responded.

"What's going on?" Another voice suddenly rang in the living room. It was Sean's brother, who had returned not long ago.

He had blonde hair that was still wet, indicating that he was just coming from the bathroom. His brown eyes were filled with confusion as he looked at his parents and elder brother.

"No need to worry. If there is something that you need to do, just go ahead with it." Sean responded.

Michael and Abigail both nodded. They did not want Sean's brother to be involved in this mess as well. It was already bad enough But Sean was involved in this, and Jaden being younger, it would be better for him to not worry about this, and just focus on his studies.

"Okay." Jaden responded, even though he understood that there was definitely something that was going on here. But understanding his parents and brother, he knew that they would definitely not tell him, even if he begged.

Sean went back to his room together with his brother, and his brother began dealing with a few practicals that he needed to deal with, considering that he was doing computer science.

"Tomorrow I will get you a new laptop. With that, you should be able to easily deal with your course, and you should be able to get good results as compared to me." Sean stated after they got inside the room.

Jaden was not excited upon hearing this. Instead, he frowned and asked, "Where did you get the money from? You should not worry about me. Instead of using that money on me, it would be better if you could use that money to improve the conditions of our family."

"Don't worry about the money. The debts that we are having will be paid tomorrow. And in the next few days, maybe I will buy a big house, allowing us to live a better life." Sean commented as he ruffled his younger brother's hair.

Jaden slapped the hand away from his head and said, "Stop talking nonsense. Unless you won a lottery, it is impossible for you to be able to do all that. Don't tell me that you have gotten yourself involved in some criminal activities, have you?"

"Just take it as if I have won a lottery. As for getting myself involved in criminal activities, you know me, you should know that that's not my thing." Sean responded as he lay on the bed.

Jaden looked at his brother, hesitated for a while, but in the end, he did not say anything. He just decided to focus on going through few programming languages on his phone.

Considering that he did not have a laptop or a high-end phone, he could only do simple programming, using a few applications on the phone.

Sean looked at his brother that was busy, and could not help but remember the times that they had spent together. The relationship between the two of them was extremely good, and they supported each other since they were young.

And since he had gotten an opportunity right now, he wanted to give his younger brother a better life just like his parents. If he could perform well, better than he did, it would be quite easy for him to be able to get a better job opportunity.

And in fact, if things did not work out like how his were not at the moment, he could as well start a small company for his brother.

During his college time, Sean had only done a simple course, computer programming. It was as simple as creating and managing programs. Although due to lack of resources, his practical skills were not top notch, but when it came to theoretical knowledge, he was extremely good.

'Let's see how things work out tomorrow.' Sean thought to himself, as he had already made plans of what he was going to do the following day.
