Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 6: WHO CARES ABOUT LOVE?

DICKSON POV

I slowly patted my comfortable office chair and sat down with a smile on my lips as my mind kept dwelling on the scenario that happened last week between me and Clara before my contract application got approved yesterday.

I couldn't control the joy of achieving the contract I had applied for due to my newly wedded wife. Thanks to her.

All though, the marriage would soon end but the contract worth marrying for, because if I didn't take fast action, no doubt, the contract would have passed me.

It would have been a very bad and unforgettable pain for me if I had missed that contract. A contract that pays billions upon billions. I couldn't allow such an opportunity to pass me by," I muttered in my mind as excitement filled my heart.

Suddenly, the thought of what we did in yesterday's meeting quickly struck my mind, interrupting my previous thoughts.

I picked up my phone and called my P.A., Alexander Clinton. "Hello, Alex, come to my office now with the file of what we did yesterday in the meeting," I ordered firmly.

"Okay, Mr Dickson. I will be there in a few minutes." He answered, and I hung off the call.

Slamming the phone on the table, I heard my office sound as a knock came to it. "Who's that?" I asked.

" Master, it's me, Alexander" my P. A squealed outside, causing me to wonder how fast he is to arrive at my office with such immediate effect.

Pressing a remote to the door, it opens, and he suddenly walks in with the files in his arms. "Where were you, Alex? Why are you so fast?" I asked, wondering.

He was a bit taken aback by my question at first as he stared at me confusingly, but suddenly, he gained back his memory. "Oh, I was already on my way to your office before you called. That's why," he answered, dropping the files on my table and letting out a sigh of relief.

"All right," I said, clearing my throat and nodding. "Take a seat," I said, pointing at a seat opposite me while drawing the file to myself, and he quickly sat down.

"Fine," I said, nodding after going through everything, tilting my face in Alexander's direction, and taking a deep breath. "Um…" I clicked my tongue. "I forgot to let you know that the contract we had applied last month had been approved yesterday,"

"Wow, that is amazing!" He exclaimed mouthedly with a smile on his lips.

I nodded. "Yeah, it is"

"So, how did you do it for them to approve because they listed in their policies that they don't grant contract opportunity to bachelors,

How did you do to get them to approve it?" Alex asked, causing my face to crease in surprise.

"Uh! Alex, where are you all this while? Haven't you been to online these days? Have you not seen my engagement and wedding photos all over the place?" I asked in surprise and he shook his head in response, curving his lips.

"No, sir. You know, since last week we have been busy, going to meetings here and there. So, therefore, there was not a time for me to go online even now, no time." He answered

" All right. That means you have missed a lot." I scoffed, chuckling. " Listen to me, don't let anybody know about what I'm going to tell you and show you now 'cause I want people to think it's a real marriage," I whispered, warning, and he nodded his head.

I took out the marriage agreement file from my drawer and showed him. " Have you remember that lady I called on the elevator to my office last week?" I asked and he nodded his head.

"I forced her into this contract marriage after knowing her problem," his mouth gaped in surprise after hearing my words, staring at me.

"Wow! How did you do it?" He asked, surprisingly.

I smirked at his expression and let out a sharp scoff. "Leave that one for me. I have my way of making people do what they don't want to do.

I know how to bend people by force without slapping them. Don't you know who I am?"

" Ahhh! Why won't I know who you are? I have been walking with you for over five years now; why won't I know you?" he answered, causing me to chuckle.

"Yeah," I cocked my head to the side while leaning on my chair. " You know now, when it comes to business I don't choke with it.

There must be a way out for a particular problem to be solved.

Either by killing someone for it or by solving it peacefully." I shrugged my shoulders and curved my lips. " Either way, things must be done,"

He stared at me and shook his head gently after hearing my statement. "Master, you are right. I tap from your grace. I love your sense of humor." Alexander said, nodding his head and causing me to smirk.

"Yeah, thank you. That's it," I said, craning my neck.

"But master, please I have a question if you don't mind," Alexander said,

And I nodded, "Yeah. Throw it on," I answered, staring at him

"The question is: won't you fall in love with her in the end?" He asked, causing my face to suddenly change.

"How? What do you mean? I mean, why do you ask? " I throw questions at him, confusedly in a firm tone.

"You know, I've witnessed a lot of contract marriages like this where they paid someone to marry them for some years.

But in the end, they, the men, always fall madly in love with the lady they paid." He explained, causing me to let out a laugh after hearing his statement.

"Love?" I asked sarcastically, chuckling and shrugging my shoulders. "Who cares about love? I can't have feelings for her because I don't want my feelings to be turned down in the end like Mandela did.

Didn't I tell you what Mandela did to me?" I asked and he nodded his head in response.

"Yeah! You did, master," he answered.

" Then, why are you asking me such a question? Do you think I will let my heart be bullied again? Shouldn't I take correction?" I asked, sternly.

"Oh, I'm sorry, sir. I didn't mean to offend you, sir. I'm sorry." he pleaded quickly in a humble tone.

But I didn't pay attention to his pleading 'cause I had to say it out to clear that dirty notions in his mind and put things straight. "I can't even think of her talkless of falling in love. Who does that?

I can't fall in love with such a punk like her. She's too small in my eyes. She seems like a novice. I only did it because of business.

So don't mention or even bring love into my business it won't work, okay? If you could do that, I would not do such a thing.

It's disgusting," I scowled firmly with gritted teeth as I began to feel some sense of enragement at the corner of my heart, causing my breath to flow a little heavy, glaring at him.

"I'm sorry, sir. It's not like that. I didn't mean to offend you this morning. You know, every girl is not the same; she might." he said, but I shushed and cut him off.

"Sh… shut up! They are the same. Don't tell me that, okay? You can't tell me what I know, okay? I can't allow myself to be cheated anymore. So stop telling me rubbish" I yelled at him, getting furious.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, master." He pleaded, bowing his head in honor.

After a while, I shrugged it off and took in a deep breath to calm myself down before telling him what I wanted to tell him.

"Make sure you keep the title 'contract marriage' secret. Don't let anybody know about it, if not, you will have yourself to blame," I added in a firm tone, warning and threatening him.

He nodded after hearing my words. "All right, sir. Your secret dies with me" he said, bowing his head.

Suddenly, my office door sounded like a knock came to it, interrupting our discussion and cutting our attention to it.

Again, the door sounded the second time louder than before, and someone was standing outside, crying and shuddering as the voice sounded familiar.

"Oh, were you expecting someone today, Master?" Alexander asked, taking me out of my thoughts as I was trying to imagine who the person might be since the voice sounded familiar.

I didn't want to open the door for the wrong person. "No. I did not," I answered, shaking my head. " Do you know the person," I asked, confusedly.

"No," he answered, causing my head to heat up; my mind raised furiously as the door kept sounding louder and louder than the previous knock.

"Who is that?" I asked, furiously. My eyes turned red and became tiny. My face tightened and my jaw clenched together
