Chapter 24 - Ch 24 Magic Vs Hobgoblin

"You are gonna get nowhere with that," Suddenly, Freya appeared beside me and said so... No, it was actually me who flied a long while before landing beside him.

As I turned toward her, I saw her looking at my sword, as if she was talking about it.

"Seriously... why do people keep doing this? Why are they so stubborn?" She said as took a step closer towards me and continued, "Why can't they understand? Why can't you understand? You weren't born for the sword. You were born for magic!"

"You have a gift people would kill for, ability to use any kind of magic, a talent that could shake the entire academy... And yet, here you are swinging that dull piece of metal around like some idiot from a countryside village."

"You don't understand," I said, not really bring able to understand how to explain this to her... It's not that I don't want to use magic but it's just that, all my magic are useless!!

Only when it's about attacking and killing though, they are far more useful in other situation but this head on battle isn't my kind of thing... Atleast with magic.

"Oh, I do. More than you think. You think that you can do this with sword too? Without relying on magic? You think you're proving something? No you are not, all you are doing is running around like an idiot, so just stop insulting magic..."

Saying so, she stopped looking at me as she walked towards the hob-goblin as magic circle started to appear around her.

"Fusion Spell:- Blazing Sandstorm." She muttered under her breath with her eyes closed as I activated elemental eye however, still failed to comprehend her spell.

I can only use one elemental eye at a time...

The air around her started to ripple. A giant, intricate magic circle formed under her feet, glowing orange before a second circle appeared above her head, spinning slowly like a wind.

A third formed in front of her, facing the hob-goblin as finally the spell was casted immediately when she opened her eyes.

The ground beneath her feet started to crumble and melt as red-hot magma surged out of it, turning the soil into burning sand.

Wild wild came from nowhere, sweeping up that sand as each grain turner into a tiny ember.

In the blink of an eye, a massive sandstorm appeared, stretching high into the sky like a burning tower, swallowing the hob-goblin instantly.

The goblin didn't even have time to scream properly as its body was shredded, burned, and then blown away, disappearing into the fiery storm, not even leaving ashes behind but she didn't stop.

The sandstorm kept moving, its size growing bigger and bigger, as it rolled into the goblin village beyond the forest, smashing through wooden houses, tearing up fields, reducing everything in its path to ash and molten wreckage.

Roofs were ripped off, walls crumbled, trees snapped and burned until nothing remained but blackened stumps.

In just a few seconds, the everything turned into a sea of flames and glowing sand, as the sky above dyed a deep orange like a sunset.

The storm finally stopped when there was nothing left to destroy. Only then did the magic circles vanish, the fiery glow fading from Freya's eyes as she swayed a bit probably due to using a lot of mana and looked at me.

"...See? That's the power of magic," she said softly, almost as if talking to herself as I just stood there on my spot without saying a word.

My spells are best for surviving they say? Who the hell could survive that and how?!!!

Even though a normal person at our age can use fused spells around 4 times, she drained her mana after just one attack... Meaning that to achieve that result she spend all her mana.

Making it strong enough to do that, though it did put risk of injury but it seems that she have don't this before too so it was fine.

'But she sure is powerful...' I thought to myself as I looked at walking beside me while we slowly make our way out of the dungeon.

"She isn't half bad right?" Suddenly Harry appeared beside me, saying so as I shot him a look, "Can you survive that?" I asked him, a bit curious since Harry and Freya are about same level I guess?

"Head on? Naaa, prolly a strong knight can but I ain't that level yet, I can sure escape though, and then look for an opening but she also have other defencive spell, hmm." He said, while appearing deep in thought.

"You can't beat her..." I said with a sigh, it seems she is more powerful compar-

"I don't know if I can or not, but I can say for sure won't lose, the worst case scenario is a draw, isn't that exciting? Haha."

They all are monsters...

"Well, it was nice meeting you all, but now, I gotta go, see you around you all, today was a job well done!!" Ethan said as he waved his hands before we bid goodbyes as he left.

Soon, Freya and even Harry bid thier farewell as they left thier own way leaving me alone with Mira as we baloth walked towards the orphanage, deciding to spend the night there.

"How was it?" Mira said suddenly, walking in silence beside me. "Hm, it was good, can't say completely how I would expect it to buy I indeed learned a lot." I said with a nods.

I also got to see a fusion magic so it's a win I guess... They indeed live upto thier name of being magic for elite.

"You know, there is a dungeon not many people know about in outskirts of the capital. I also got to know it by chance, you wanna go visit someday." She asked with a chuckle.

"Sure I would, it would be a date right?" I said as we reached the orphanage, before Mira could reply to me tho, we spotted Mathew rushing towards us from the orphanage.

Running as if his life depended on it as he rushed at me before looking at me in the eyes, not even bothering to clean away the tear and snot on his face as he finally opened his mouth...

"Da-dad... H-he, he is dead..."
