Chapter 30 - —Scene 30— Daydreaming in a Nightmare

Another splash of water engulfed Shakti's body. It tasted saltier than the last couple times the trog was drenched in water. The canopy swayed in its vision as Shakti drifted in and out of consciousness– the light of the evening sun ever present.

Or was it the floor? It felt sturdier than the ground it remembered standing on before– before its flesh burned and sizzled.

Shakti had no idea where it was– or when for that matter.

Abdominal pain surged up to its awareness– as its muscles contracted involuntarily. Green bile erupted from its mouth like a geyser– spraying all over its body and the space around it– foam trickled slowly out like a thick layer of fog.

The troglodyte felt itself burning from the inside as its body continued to convulse.

Two Lacertillas– at least that's what it remembered them being called hissed and screamed at one another over Shakti's body.

'Speak normal.' Shakti imagined itself yelling at them but nothing came out. They splashed more water over the trog, wiping away most of the bile off of it.

Shakti wished they would stop– the bile felt cool on its skin, almost refreshing compared to the turmoil it felt inside.

As it were, Shakti's body was not responding as it would like. Half its limbs twitched. The others stayed motionless. Yet the troglodyte fought to gain control anytime it woke up.

Each time the voices arguing overhead became more digestible to Shakti's palate. It even fancied understanding them now.

'Good– they listen' Shakti thought. It could sense its body calming down. The urge to regurgitate was less but the water continued to splash over it as the ground swayed even more than earlier– wood creaked in tandem with the sploosh of water.

"Take lead, and let the elder know we are going straight to her" One of the more feathered Lacertilia barked at another.

"As the currents guide"  Another more slim featherless Lacertilla answered as it jumped over and out of Shakti's view. Another splash of water drenched the trog– leaving it even more confused and angry than before.
