Chapter 35 - The big boys

"Look who it is. If it isn't Mr. Crazy himself," Emma said as she tapped Denzel on the shoulder. "Challenging an S-rank player known for his sadistic nature. I wish you luck." She never knew he could be so ballsy. She couldn't help but feel that the punk had a nasty trick planned. She smirked and moved her head closer to Denzel's ear. "We'll be rooting for you." She smiled and left, leaving someone paranoid behind her.

Denzel smiled.

"Today, you'll either become a fool or a daredevil. Which will it be?" a strange man with brown hair said as he passed by Denzel, laughing. Denzel could feel shivers running down his spine. The aura the man radiated was on a whole different level. "That's the German Hound," Denzel said in a low tone. He was puzzled by how such a person had gained interest in him...

[Germany Rank 1. Nikola Tezla]

(Hmm...His name reminds me of someone...)

That kid's aura is strange... I like it, Nikola smiled to himself as he walked down the hallway.

"No pressure," Ryan said, putting his hand on Denzel's shoulder.

Denzel's eyes began glowing red. "It's showtime," he muttered.

30 minutes later..

"Can you believe the guts of that escort?" "He'll be wiped out in an instant." Denzel could hear the comments coming from the stands of the training room, but he wasn't even paying them any mind. He had his eyes set on the prize, which was right in front of him.

Macmiller walked closer to Denzel, clenching his palm into a fist. "I hope you're ready?" Macmiller said, tilting his head slightly.

Denzel smiled. "No hard feelings," Denzel said, stretching out his hand with a smug look on his face.

Macmiller laughed hard. "Sure," he said, shaking Denzel's hand. They both walked back to their sides of the battleground as they prepared to duke it out.

Gurritéz appeared at the center of the battleground and glanced at Denzel, then at Macmiller. "Are you ready?" Gurritéz said. "Battle begin!" Gurritéz then disappeared as fast as he had appeared.

As soon as the words left Gurritéz's mouth, Macmiller lunged in for an attack. But before the match began, Denzel had already appraised him.

~[Appraisal]~

Denzel already knew how to approach the fight. Macmiller had a large grin on his face as he balled up his fist, ready to beat Denzel to a bloody pulp. Macmiller condensed aura energy into his knuckles, and his hands began giving off steam.

[Prime Time]

A wide-range Ability that can wipe out an entire nest of monsters at its max potential. It uses mixed martial arts to produce death-causing strikes that explode the target from the inside. If used on a single target, the fatality rate is 100%.

Denzel was a sitting duck for Macmiller as he lunged at him at high-speed. Macmiller's left fist was millimeters away from Denzel's face. "Pathetic fool," Macmiller thought to himself as his arm almost made contact.

BOOM!

The hit landed...

Or maybe not?

Denzel was still in the same posture—hands in his pockets, looking smug. Denzel glared at Mac with his smug face. "Are you just beginning?"

Was it a fluke?

Macmiller's punch had definitely been aimed at Denzel, but how had it missed?

"Hmm... That escort isn't half bad," Su Bu Lang said as he cracked an intriguing grin.

Macmiller's face was red. "Don't think I missed so you can get all smug with me! I never miss twice!"

Macmiller charged up another attack; this time the energy was denser than before. "Just try not to die, punk!" Macmiller lunged in to attack Denzel again.

Nothing landed.

"Is Mac really missing that guy?" a man in a black hoodie said in a low, concerned tone as he stared intently at the battle.

It wasn't that Macmiller's aim was off. Denzel was just faster.

[Gaia's Protection]~

A passive skill that helps Denzel dodge attacks that his eyes can keep up with without breaking a sweat.

The crowd burst into laughter.

"It seems like your boyfriend's wiping the floor with that guy," Emma said with a cheesy smile aimed at Olivia.

Ryan was speechless. Bro!

"SHUT UP!" Macmiller raged as he smashed his fists into the ground. Macmiller's glare intensified as his killing intent grew. "I wanted to leave you with a few broken bones, but I've changed my mind. I'll murder you," Macmiller snarled.

Gasps filled the room as Macmiller's words seemed a tad too harsh. Macmiller could not back down now; not only was his pride on the line, but the entire US's honor was, too.

Up until that point, Denzel had only dodged attacks and had not gone on the offensive. But that was about to change...

Denzel's eyes glowed bright red, and his hair began fluttering. "So you're done with your cat and mouse games? Let's end this," Macmiller said, spilling out insane amounts of energy which cracked the ground around him.

"You've already lost," Denzel muttered, closing his eyes...
