Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The First Lesson

Chapter 20: The First Lesson

The five sisters walked into the room together.

Sakurai Saki observed the room he had visited once the week before.

The first floor was the living room and kitchen, with a staircase leading to the second floor, where the five sisters' private rooms were located.

"Sensei-chan, I'm so sleepy, I'm going to bed first." Nakano Ichika smiled brightly, waved, then walked off.

"Scumbag, us sisters don't need you sticking your nose into our business, so do us a favor and get lost already!" Nakano Nino put her hands on her hips, face full of contempt.

Nakano Itsuki said nothing, she simply took out a book silently. "I can study by myself. Just call me when you start."

Nakano Miku lightly poked Sakurai's arm, "Saki-kun, let's play a game."

Nakano Yotsuba enthusiastically raised her hand, "Sakurai-san, when are we going to start studying?"

Five students with five completely different personalities, yet their grades were unspeakably terrible. If his own scores were divided into five, it'd still be enough to crush them all.

Divide IQ by five?

Split brain cells five ways?

Such a disrespectful thought flashed through Sakurai's mind.

He sat down on the sofa in the living room, took off his glasses, glanced at the remaining four, then spoke up: "Originally, I intended to give a placement test today, but with one missing, there's really no point."

Then he turned and asked Nakano Nino: "Why are you still here?"

The next second, she shot him a glare.

(◣ _ ◢)

If looks could kill, Sakurai was sure the number of times he'd died in the past few seconds had already reached the hundreds.

The two of them stared at each other like that for several minutes.

Nakano Miku and Yotsuba watched them, finding it incredibly amusing, with no intention of stepping in.

"Nino-san, could you move a bit further away?"

"The way you're looking at me is annoying as fuck. Honestly, I seriously hate girls like you." Sakurai Saki gave Nino a radiant smile, but his words were anything but bright.

That kind of smile was something he only used when working as a rental boyfriend—a kind of professional technique.

Normally at school, unless he was giving a speech or on special occasions, Sakurai kept a blank face, never showing emotion. It was also one way he controlled his superpowers—reducing emotional fluctuations made it easier to suppress his powers from outbust.

Several more seconds passed.

The other person said nothing.

Sakurai Saki also retracted his smile.

Could someone really maintain that much contempt in their eyes for so long? Maybe this was a kind of natural talent too.

Please don't assign talent points to stuff like this, Nino-san.

Seeing that she still said nothing, Sakurai softened his tone and said: "If you don't want to study, you can go back to your room. Instead of sitting here glaring at me, wouldn't it be better to do something else? What do you think?"

"Hmph!" Nakano Nino snorted coldly and walked up the stairs.

( 。 •̀ ⤙ •́ 。 )

"No matter what, you'll never be able to teach me in this lifetime—not even for one minute! No! Not even one second, so don't even dream of it!"

Paying her no mind, Sakurai Saki took the teaching materials out of his bag.

"Has she always been this annoying since childhood? That overinflated self-awareness is definitely something that should be treated. No one gives a damn about someone they just met." Sakurai Saki muttered, "This job—losing it wouldn't even matter. My family's not poor."

"Sakurai-san, that expression you made earlier was pretty harsh." Nakano Yotsuba responded.

"If a guy can stay calm after getting cussed out by a girl, he shouldn't be a tutor—he should just go be a monk." Sakurai Saki said grumpily.

He was ready to quit.

Even if this job looked decent on the surface——

Five people, twenty-five thousand yen a day—not exactly low—but in reality, at Shuchiin, the only person who could take this job was probably him. Because according to the rankings in the last end-of-term exam, starting from the top:

Shirogane Miyuki, the number one student, wasn't good at dealing with girls. His reason for turning down the offer was very clear: the tutoring target this time was girls—and not just one, but five of them.

The second-ranked student was Shinomiya Kaguya. Even the principal had to hesitate about whether to invite her. And with her way of handling things, the chance of her agreeing was probably about one percent.

The fourth-ranked student was Shijo Maki, and she wasn't the type who would lower herself to tutor others.

After all, most Shuchiin students were the children of politicians and tycoons—born at the top of the pyramid. Asking them to take on a job that paid ten thousand yen an hour? The chances were practically zero. If the tutoring job was just for one person, it might still be considered.

Everyone had their own club activities at school, and their own studies to worry about. When everyone's that busy, who has the spare time to babysit a stranger? What is this, some kind of boredom-induced desire to experience poverty?

"Your academic performance is your own business. If you think it doesn't matter, and believe going out into the world with just a junior high diploma is fine, then I obviously have no objections." Sakurai glanced at Nakano Nino, who was standing midway up the stairs.

"Even if you just want to land a handsome boyfriend, and want to keep the romantic sparks alive after dating, being able to say sweet and interesting things is really important. And for that, you need to be good at language arts from Literature subject." Sakurai Saki continued, "Nino-san, I'm actually curious—why do you keep using those weird names to refer to me? I thought I was pretty well-known at Shuchiin."

Nakano Nino turned her head to look at Sakurai Saki. "What kind of delusion are you having? Why the fuck would I need to know who you are? You're proud of being the Student Council's General Affairs Officer and messing around with all kinds of girls?"

So she did know who he was.

This girl was easy to read.

"Oh, I assumed you were just the type who's into pretty boys—stick to them like glue. I mean, you've been staring at my face this whole time. But looks like I was overthinking it." Sakurai Saki said apologetically.

"What's that got to do with you? So what if I like pretty boys?" Nakano Nino slammed her hand onto the stair railing. The wood gave a loud clack.

It was clear she was furious.

Who wouldn't be pissed after being lectured like that? Especially being lectured about views on love.

What the hell do you know about me? You just met me and you think you can judge me? Being good-looking makes you so special? Aren't you just another scumbag anyway?

Nakano Nino furrowed her beautiful eyebrows and let out a cold snort.

Sakurai said flatly, "If you care too much about appearances, your standards for choosing a partner will be really low. I just hope you don't run into another scumbag, Nino-san."

"GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!" Nakano Nino pointed straight at Sakurai and screamed.

"The moment someone hits your sore spot, you jump like a fucking monkey that hasn't evolved. I mean, your academic performance is already hanging by a thread, and you still don't want to study? Even when someone comes all the way here to teach you, you act all stuck-up. People like that probably won't amount to anything in life." Sakurai Saki wasn't joking.

A stupid woman like that—she'll be fooled into bed by at least ten different scumbags in her life.

If he wanted to seduce her, Sakurai Saki could do it within a week—and without even making the first move.

Nakano Nino suddenly turned around, stormed toward Sakurai Saki, then grabbed his bag.

"All you ever talk about is studying! Studying! Studying! Is that all your dumb ass knows how to do? Like a fucking idiot!"

She spun around, opened the window, stepped onto the balcony—and hurled the bag straight out.

One clean motion—done!

Miku and Yotsuba were both frozen on the spot.

Oh shit.
