Chapter Two Hundred and Forty-Four – "At His Side"
In the upper levels of the colossal flying fortress, with clouds drifting lazily beyond crystalline windows, Rose quietly walked beside Crow—her steps light, almost silent. Her cheeks were tinged a soft pink, her eyes never leaving him for long.
The moment Baihu had returned with Crow from the sky, landing gracefully on the edge of the command terrace, Rose had rushed forward. She didn't say anything at first. Just stood beside him, close enough to feel his presence, her hands folded in front of her nervously.
Now, as they moved through the vast halls of the fortress, Rose gently leaned her head against Crow's arm. She didn't need words. Just being this close was enough. Her long silver hair brushed against his cloak, and she let out a small, contented sigh.
"I'm happy here," she whispered.
Crow glanced down briefly, then forward again. "I know."
For Rose, it was more than enough.
She had once wandered through endless battlefields as a solo warrior, admired by many but known by none. Now, she had a place—at his side. Not as a top-tier player. Not as a warrior. But simply as Rose… her master's shadow.
Behind them, a few of the other female units peeked around a corner, their expressions unreadable.
But Rose didn't care.
She was finally home.
