Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Eight
Floating down from his perch, Crow landed softly atop the massive, celestial-scaled back of Xar'Zenth, the Primordial Dragon of Time, Space, and Reality.
The earth still rumbled faintly beneath the beast's slumbering form, its snoring distorting the flow of time around it—small rocks froze mid-air, then rewound themselves before falling again.
Crow calmly walked across the massive spine, undeterred by the raw power coiled in every twitch of the dragon's tail.
He reached the top of the dragon's massive head.
And then…
He gave it gentle head pats.
A glowing sigil beneath his hand pulsed as his fingers brushed the thick, crystalline scales. "Time to wake up, big guy."
There was a deep, resonating hum—almost like the dragon sighed in delight. Then Xar'Zenth's massive eyes flickered open, galaxies swirling within them. Reality shivered.
The beast blinked once, letting out a pleased rumble that warped the clouds above into swirling spirals.
Then it slowly raised its head, arching its body with a stretch that bent gravity itself.
Crow gave one last pat. "You slept enough. We've got a hellish mission to finish."
Liana landed beside him, smiling. "He really only lets you do that."
Sylvanna scowled from a distance, muttering something under her breath.
And far below, players watching from safety zones stared at the godlike scene with open mouths.
