—One Piece—
The morning sun painted Amazon Lily in molten gold, its light catching on the mist that rose from the roaring waterfalls. The island breathed with life—female warriors sparred on stone platforms, their muscles glistening, serpents coiled around their arms like living armor. The air smelled of salt, orchids, and the iron tang of blades sharpened for the day's training.
At the heart of it all, a ten-year-old girl with obsidian hair and eyes like polished onyx stood barefoot in the shallows of the training pool. Boa Hancock, youngest of three sisters, balanced on the slick rocks with the grace of a river snake, her laughter ringing clear over the clashing wood and steel.
"Hancock! Catch!"
Her sister Sandersonia tossed a mango into the air. Hancock leapt, twisting mid-motion—only for a shadow to blot out the sun.
A king cobra, its scales like oiled obsidian, had broken free from its handlers during the Serpent's Dance festival. The beast towered over the children, its hood head flared, fangs dripping venom as it lunged—
"Ahhh!" Hancock screamed, and suddenly, the world shuddered.
A pulse of invisible force erupted from her small body, rippling through the air like a stone dropped into still water. The cobra froze mid-strike, its golden eyes rolling back before it collapsed, unconscious, into the pool with a thunderous splash.
Silence.
Then—
"She's the one."
Empress Tritoma's voice, sharp as a blade, cut through the stillness. The crowd of warriors parted like reeds before a serpent, revealing the stunningly beautiful ruler. Her figure was striking, poised with effortless grace, her flawless skin glowing like sunlight on marble. Yet it was her eyes that held true power—burning with a fire that made kings kneel.
She extended a hand, beckoning Hancock forward.
"Come, child..."
————
The Temple of the Serpent Goddess loomed over Amazon Lily, its stone pillars carved with the weaving form of ancient snakes. Torches flickered, casting shifting shadows that made the carvings seem alive, their gemstone eyes glinting in the firelight.
Hancock knelt before the throne, her sisters flanking her. Sandersonia's fingers brushed hers in reassurance; Marigold grinned despite the situation, hoping to help ease her sister's worries.
Empress Tritoma rose from her seat, her golden robes whispering against the stone. She moved slowly, each step measured.
"Boa Hancock."
The girl lifted her chin.
Tritoma's fingers closed around her wrist. The golden snake armlet gleamed in her palm, its surface etched with the sacred vows of the Kuja.
"This is your burden now," the Empress murmured, fastening the armlet unto Hancock. "As my successor, I expect a lot from you."
Hancock felt the weight of it.
The weight of responsibility.
The crowd held its breath as she stood, the armlet gleaming in the torchlight.
"I will protect our home," Hancock declared, her voice ringing through the temple.
The warriors roared, welcoming their Princess and future Empress.
Deep in the jungle, hidden from all eyes, a Ciphor Pol agent watched in silence—recording everything. Every moment streamed back to a World Government ship, its hull cutting through dark waters as it waited, anchored just beyond the Calm Belt's edge.
On the main deck, a figure in a bulky white spacesuit paused. The bubble helmet reflected the screen before him—Hancock's triumphant ascension, the moment she was crowned Kuja Princess and named heir to the Empress.
Saint Jalmack, Celestial Dragon and collector of "living dolls," adjusted his monocle.
The lens framed Hancock perfectly.
"That one," he murmured to the slave kneeling at his feet. "Has serpent's eyes."
He didn't point. Didn't need to.
A gloved hand rose, finger uncurling like a bored king sentencing a criminal.
"I want it."
————
Three nights later, the jungle breathed hot and wet around Amazon Lily's borders.
Hancock should have been asleep.
Instead—
"Sisters?"
The place was empty.
Outside, the warriors of Amazon Lily slept under a fat moon. Too quiet. Even the serpents were silent.
Then—
A whimper.
Hancock sprinted toward the sound, bare feet silent on the packed earth. The trees opened to reveal Sandersonia and Marigold crouched over a wounded merchant woman, her kimono torn, face pale with blood loss.
"She's hurt—" Marigold began.
In an instant, the woman's injuries seemed to vanish as her fingers lengthened, bones cracking as they reshaped into talons.
Hancock's breath caught, watching as the once injured woman leaped forward, pouncing at her and her unsuspecting sisters.
"Run—!"
Too late.
A circular door opened in midair—no, not a door, a portal shaped as a door—and a massive arm shot out, snatching Marigold by the hair.
Sandersonia lunged, only for another assailant to literally materialize behind her, a dagger kissing her throat.
"Move, little snake," he purred, "and watch me gut her like a fish."
Hancock froze. 'They all have devil fruits…'
With no other option, she let her weapon clatter to the ground.
A hand seized her next—then the world erupted.
Her anxiety-driven Conqueror's Haki tore through the night like a storm, shattering every window in the village, sending warriors staggering from their beds.
Somewhere, Empress Tritoma's voice rose in a battle cry—
"HANCOCK!"
A needle jabbed her neck.
Cold flooded her veins.
The last thing she heard was a sigh
"Disappointing. Your new owner wanted you conscious."
…
..
.
Dawn stained the horizon bloody when Hancock finally woke.
Wood groaned beneath her. Salt crusted her lips.
'Ship. I'm on a—'
"SANDERSONIA! MARIGOLD!"
Her scream ripped her throat raw.
Hands seized her, slamming her against the deck. A harsh sneer filled her vision.
"Quiet, rodent."
Over the agent's shoulder, Hancock saw it—
Amazon Lily's shores lingered in view—close enough to see the Kuja warriors gathered along the docks, their figures etched against the sand, yet already too distant, too late to reclaim their stolen princess and her sisters.
Hancock's nails dug into the deck, splinters driving deep as she fought to crawl toward home.
A boot connected with her ribs.
"Where do you think you're going?"
————
—The holy land, Mary Geoise—
The dungeon smelled of burnt sugar and iron.
Hancock blinked against the torchlight, her wrists bound to a slab of black iron. The metal hummed beneath her bare skin, radiating unnatural cold.
Seastone.
She thrashed—once—before the pain registered.
"Ah-ah, little snake."
A guard pressed a boot between her shoulder blades, grinding her into the freezing slab.
Across the chamber, Sandersonia and Marigold were pinned to identical slabs. Marigold's lips moved in a silent prayer.
"Begin."
The brand descended.
A three-clawed dragon's paw sigil, glowing white-hot, kissed her spine.
Hancock screamed, The scent of her own burning flesh rising like incense.
The sound tore through the dungeon, mingling with her sisters' cries. The smell—crisping skin, melting fat—clung to the air like a curse.
Marigold sobbed.
A guard sighed, swinging a seastone baton.
*CRACK.*
Silence.
Hancock's vision swam. The brand lifted, leaving her back a ruined masterpiece of blisters and blood.
A slave tossed a bucket of saltwater.
She didn't scream this time, she refused to give them the satisfaction.
…
..
.
Days later…
"Kneel."
Hancock stood frozen in Saint Jalmack's gilded parlor, her new brand weeping through the thin slave's clothes.
The Celestial Dragon sighed, snapping his fingers.
A servant stepped forward, placing a gold-plated collar around her throat.
Needle-thin seastone spikes pricked her skin, ice cold.
She collapsed, knees hitting the shattered porcelain Jalmack had scattered just for her.
Shards burrowed into her flesh.
Blood puddled like wine around her.
He laughed, sipping champagne.
"Good pet."
…
..
.
Days bled into weeks, weeks stretched into months—and with each passing moment, Hancock's existence as a slave descended deeper into torment.
Hancock balanced a boiling teapot on her head, her scalp blistering.
Jalmack's guests hurled rotten fruit.
A pineapple struck her cheek.
The teapot trembled.
Drip.
Boiling water seared her ear, her eyes burning with tears she refused to shed.
…
..
.
"I am property."
The words tasted like ash, her image reflected back at her through the mirror.
"I am property."
Her hollow eyes stared back at her.
"I am—"
Her voice broke.
The collar shrieked.
Lightning crawled down her throat.
When she woke, the mirror showed bloody teeth.
"I am property."
————
—2 years later— (A/N: Hancock is 12 years old)
Years of slavery had carved Hancock into something brittle.
She knelt in Jalmack's trophy room, her collar digging fresh wounds into her throat. The Celestial Dragon circled her, his shadow slithering across walls lined with caged exotic birds and preserved slave limbs floating in amber liquid.
"Your beauty bores me," he sighed, flicking her veil aside with his riding crop.
Hancock kept her eyes lowered.
A guard approached, cradling a velvet box. Inside, nestled like a cursed jewel, sat a devil fruit, the Mero Mero no Mi, its spiral patterns gleaming under torchlight.
"Eat."
She recoiled—
Hands seized her hair, yanking her head back. Fingers pried her jaws apart.
The fruit slammed against her tongue.
Rotten.
Putrid.
Like swallowing a corpse.
Her body convulsed, bile rising—
"Spit it out and I'll spend the next week 'playing' with your sisters..."
She choked it down.
Vomit followed instantly, splattering the marble—
The crop cracked across her cheekbone.
"Disgusting creature! That was worth a kingdom!"
As punishment, they made her kneel in the mess for days, her skin itched, her knees burned.
When a slave child stumbled, shattering a crystal glass, Jalmack smiled.
"Turn her to stone."
Hancock's fingers twitched.
The collar hummed to life.
Lightning seared her spine—
—her hand shot out—
—and the child froze mid-sob, face locked in terror, tiny hands raised in pleading.
Jalmack clapped.
"Magnificent!"
The statue was mounted beside his favorite wine rack.
Hancock counted the cracks in its cheeks until dawn.
————
—6 years later— (A/N: Hancock is 18 years old)
The marble floor of Jalmack's chambers was cold as a tomb.
Hancock knelt, her unbound hair—once her pride, now just another tool for humiliation—dragged through thick, acrid polish before being pressed against the Celestial Dragon's boots. Each stroke left streaks of black and gold, the chemicals burning her scalp raw.
Jalmack yawned, swirling his wine.
"Harder, pet. You're neglecting the heel."
She leaned forward—only for her owner to stomp her head into the cold hard floor.
A wet tear of flesh.
Blood pattered onto marble, each drop a dark star against the white.
Jalmack sighed, kicking her ribs for staining the floor.
"Disgusting creature. Clean it."
Hancock pressed her forehead to the stone, smearing the blood with her own face as commanded.
Through the pain, she watched Jalmack rise and amble toward his newest display—
Her sister, Marigold, mounted on an ivory pedestal like a museum piece, beaten black and blue, her breath ragged.
"Such exquisite detail," he mused, tracing her beaten body. "I should do the other one tomorrow."
Hancock's nails splintered against the floor, knowing her other sister would be in Marigolds place tomorrow.
Then—
Light.
A flicker of blue danced at the edge of her vision.
At first, she thought it a trick of her swollen eyes, a final hallucination before death.
But it persisted.
A holographic screen, floating in the air like a phantom.
[Would you like to be saved?]
[Yes]
[Yes]
No other options.
Jalmack's back was turned, his fingers still caressing Marigold's stone flesh.
The guards at the door yawned, bored.
Hancock's breath stopped.
Her hand trembled—not from fear, but from six years of suppressed fury.
A bloodied finger rose.
Hovered.
And—
