~ With Shisui ~
"Ladies and gentlemen, after an exciting second event, let me present our current standings!" The scoreboard numbers shifted on the Lacrima display as Chapati's voice boomed across the arena.
First Place: Fairy Tail B, 21p
First Place: Sabertooth, 21p
Third place: Blue Pegasus, 16p
Fourth place: Raven Tail, 14p
Fifth Place: Fairy Tail A, 10p
Fifth place: Quatro Cerberus, 10p
Seventh place: Lamia Scale, 8p
Eighth place: Mermaid Heel, 6p
The crowd leaned forward as the rankings appeared. Fairy Tail Team B had climbed to share first place with Sabertooth, both teams sitting at twenty-one points. Below them, Blue Pegasus held third with sixteen points, followed by Raven Tail at fourteen. Fairy Tail Team A and Quatro Cerberus were tied for fifth with ten points each, while Lamia Scale trailed at seventh with eight points. Mermaid Heel occupied last place with six.
"Well, this is different. I've covered these games for years, and Sabertooth usually has a commanding lead by now." Chapati said from the announcer's box.
Yajima stroked his moustache. "It's only day two, Chapati. Sabertooth dominated yesterday, that is true, but they'd better watch out. Other guilds are hungry for that top spot."
He then pointed at the scoreboard. "Especially Fairy Tail Team B, who's matched them point for point."
Chapati cleared his throat and raised his microphone again. "Now then, let's begin today's battle segment! Our first match features Blacksnake from Raven Tail versus Toby Olorta from Lamia Scale!"
The arena floor cleared as both competitors entered from opposite sides.
"A snake versus a dog! Which one will come out on top? Let the battle begin!"
At the battle's commencement, Toby did not waste any time and crouched low, his fingers extending with green magical energy.
Ultra-Poison Nails: Mega-Mega Jellyfish!
Toby shot forward, lunging through the air toward his opponent in a single leap.
Blacksnake dodged left, then right, easily avoiding all of Toby's attempted swipes at him as the poison attacks missed by inches each time. Just as Toby prepared another strike, Blacksnake's body suddenly collapsed into sand, scattering across the arena floor.
"What?" Toby's eyes went wide. He spun around, searching for his opponent. "He's disappeared?!"
Unable to find his opponent, Toby had unconsciously lowered his guard for a single moment, which Blacksnake recognized and instantly capitalized on the short lapse of concentration from Toby. The sand began to move behind Toby, before a wave of sand erupted from the ground. It enveloped Toby in a spiral before sending him flying backward.
Sand Rebellion!
The crowd gasped at the magic being displayed. Several mages in the stands stood up, recognizing the technique that Blacksnake had just used.
"That's Max's magic!" Someone shouted from Fairy Tail's section.
"No way," another voice called out. "Blacksnake's using Mimic Magic?"
The crowd was sent into an uproar of amazement and awe at realizing that there was a mage who could use the rare magic: Mimic Magic.
Meanwhile, in Fairy Tail Team B's section, Shisui's expression changed. His eyes narrowed, not at the battle below but at something else entirely. He stood abruptly.
"Something's come up." He said to his teammates. "I need to go."
Laxus glanced at him. "Now? During the matches?"
"It can't be helped." Shisui was already walking toward the exit. Once he rounded the corner and confirmed no one was watching, he let himself sink into the shadows at his feet, the darkness swallowing him whole.
Shisui Shadow Jumped and moments later, he found himself in the shadows cast by medical equipment in Fairy Tail's infirmary. What Shisui found happening in the room had given him pause as his eyes hardened.
Four masked figures in robes stood near the medical beds. One carried Wendy over his shoulder like a sack of grain. Another held Porlyusica's unconscious form, while a third had Carla tucked under his arm. They'd left Natsu alone on his bed, still sleeping off his motion sickness from the Chariot event.
"Are you sure we got the right one?" The tallest kidnapper asked, his voice barely muffled by his mask.
"The client said to grab the Fairy Tail girl who was in the infirmary… But there's three of them. So which girl is the right girl?" Another replied.
"Maybe we grabbed the wrong one?"
"But if we did grab the wrong one, wouldn't they not pay us?"
"What do you want me to do, then? It's not like we have a description of who we have to kidnap."
The argument continued as Shisui listened to the information that the group were nonchalantly giving out for free.
Then, the argument finally ended when the shortest one, barely reaching the others' shoulders, shifted nervously. "We should just take all three. Let the client sort it out by themselves."
Shisui stepped out from the shadows without making a sound. He positioned himself directly behind the arguing group as they remained completely unaware of his presence.
"So…" Shisui said casually, leaning forward between two of them. "Where exactly are we planning to take them?"
"Obviously to the meeting point the client specified. Did you not read the mission details, you idiot?" One kidnapper answered automatically. Then his entire body went rigid.
All four kidnappers froze as the temperature in the room seemed to drop several degrees. They turned their heads slowly, mechanically, like rusty gears.
Shisui stood there with his hands in his pockets, looking perfectly relaxed. The famous Shisui the Teleporter, whose name alone made dark guilds reconsider their plans.
The shortest kidnapper made a small squeaking sound and collapsed immediately, fainting on the spot. Another one's legs gave out, and a wet stain spread across his pants. The third began shaking so violently his mask rattled against his face, while the leader tried to speak.
"W-we... That is... Y-you're..."
Shisui's eyes shifted from black to red, the telltale sign of his Sharingan activating.
"Sleep."
The three remaining kidnappers dropped like puppets with cut strings. Before they could hit the floor and potentially drop their victims, three shadow clones appeared. Each one carefully extracted Wendy, Porlyusica, and Carla from their grasp, while leaving the kidnappers themselves to drop hard onto the floor. The clones then laid the unconscious women gently on separate beds before disappearing in small puffs of smoke.
Shisui produced rope from a storage seal and began tying up the kidnappers. He made sure the knots were tight enough to cut off circulation if they struggled. After dragging them to a corner, he pulled up a chair and sat down to wait. He couldn't leave his friends defenceless. Not when someone was actively targeting Fairy Tail members.
The room fell into silence as Shisui's mind ran through possible suspects and motives. It starts with the attack on Wendy and Carla on the first night followed by Raven Tail's open declaration that they were responsible for it, then Flare's attempt to harm Asuka during her fight with Lucy during Day One's battle segment, and now this.
'Everything seems to point to Raven Tail… But something feels wrong about this.'
A loud yawn broke the silence. "Hooowaaahhh! I slept like a log!"
Shisui turned to see Natsu sitting up in bed, stretching his arms above his head. The dragon slayer blinked a few times before focusing on him.
"Oh? Shisui? What are you doing here?"
