Chapter 3 - CHAPTER THREE (The time Rift)

My parents had enemies, but not enough to have them killed. It was a horrific moment for me, I couldn't hold back my tears, I didn't want to hold back, I wanted to let it out. My anger, frustration and fear.

My Grandmother had gone outside, she couldn't stand what she saw and we were lucky to not have lost her to a heart attack. Grandfather was still trying to get a grasp of the situation, he's left hand on he's forehead and his right on he's hips.

"you didn't find anything on them, anything at all"

He said sadness mixed with desperation in he's eyes.

Norlan nod slightly heading to his desk, pulling out the drawer he brought out a piece of paper, square in shape, old and rumpled like it was torn from a journal.

"this, he said holding it up,.. This was found folded into your daughter inlaw's hand, the one they didn't cut off. He continued handing the piece of paper to my grandfather.

 - whosoever did this is trying to send a message. He said conclusively.

Send a massage? How is killing them trying to send a massage, my confusion deepens, I need answers, who are these people and why did they kill my parents just to send a massage. I looked at my grandfather, he was worried too. He held the the piece of paper, after reading the content he tightening he's grip, I could sense anger In he's aura and he wasn't hiding it. I was trying to see what was written in the piece of paper that go him rilled up. He looked at me handing me the piece of paper, then to Norlan.

-thank you Norlan, I'll make arrangements for the burial rites and arrangements for you payment. Grandfather said extending he's hand to shake Norlan.

 - I'm so sorry for your loss sir. Norlan said shaking my grandfather firmly. "let me know if you need anything" he said conclusively.

 - Daisy let's go. My Grandfather said to me. Leading the way out of the morgue. I followed him outside and we all met by the wagon. My grandmother had find a way to keep herself quiet, or maybe she is exhausted and she couldn't cry anymore, her cheeks red and her nose running, which she kept wiping with her scarf. Grandfather was about to untie the horse from the stand. Now I have time to see what was written in the paper I was holding.

Loosening my grip, I straighten the paper and held it up for the reflection of the sun to shine through, revealing the content of the paper. It read...

 ~The beginning of the end~

The beginning of the end?. I had no idea what that meant, I was puzzled confusion written all over my face, as I was still trying make sense of what it meant. I had a thought to ask my grandfather, he could know what it meant and explain it to me but I shrugged the thought off. Looking at my grandmother and how heartbreaking she was I know she had to see it. Maybe it meant something to her and she could tell me.

"look what they found in mom's hand when they found her, I said holding out the paper for her to see. She took it from me, as her face lit up, a hint of realization and fear.

" they are back.., she mumbled silently. They are back she repeated again. Calling for my grandfather.

" whose back? Who are they I asked, cause nothing made sense to me at that moment.

 - Solan!, my grandmother called out to my grandfather ignoring my question.

" Who are they and what do they want, I asked again, inching towards her so I was audible enough.

I'll explain everything to you when we get home dear, but right now we have to get home first, she said ushering me into the wagon.

Grandfather had already saddled the horse and was ready for us to leave. As soon as we got on the wagon, he yanked at the reigns and the horse took off.

"Grandfather what does this mean I asked holding the paper in he's face. I needed answers and I need them now. I was growing impatient and I was already traumatized by what I saw back at the morgue.

"Epochiels.. He said yanking on the reigns again to make the horse move faster.

-"They are the guardians of the Chronos Hallows.,

Massengers of Sylpharion the Unseen, he coutinued taking a glance back to look at me and Grandmother.

"what do they want with my parents, I replied tucking my hair behind my ear. My Grandmother was quiet, her hand on her laps as the bumps on the road jolted us back and forth.

"They must be after the Eon keys, he paused, redirecting the horse to the junction that led to our house.

 - your father and mother were barers of the Eon keys, which was why they had left you with us to keep you safe. The Eon key is embedded in the left hands, keeping it safe from harm, and a human cloak to what or whoever wanted them for their selves.

-Is that why they had their left hands cut off. I asked..

"yes, grandfather replied cuz they wanted the keys and that's the only way they could get to it.

Finally we pulled up in front of my Grandfather's house, the street was way more busy than we left it, there were more people going about their business buying and selling. Kids running around with bread in their hands, feeding it to pigeons, then they'd run off again giggling happily.

"Why are this eon keys so important to Sylpharion, I said walking towards my grandfather as he tried to settle the horse down.

" we'll have this conversation inside he said, bending down to give the horse a drink. He's mood was unreadable.

"I want to talk about it now, I spat back. My confusion turning into anger. - He looked at me, he's heart sunk. He knows this is hard for me and it really was getting to me.

" Daisy, I'm so sorry about what happened to your parents, he said standing up so that he was staring down at me." But this is complicated far more than you can comprehend, he continued. He reached out to touch my chin, but I took a step back out of he's touch. Then I turned to go inside leaving him by the horse stable.

My Grandmother had gone inside earlier, when I walked in she was sitting by the fire place holding a picture of my mom and my dad. She was too tired to cry now, I could hear the exhaustion in her breath. I went to sit beside her, I didn't say a word, she didn't either still holding the picture, she reach out to touch their faces with her fingers. Then she held it close to her chest. We sat there in silence for a while staring into the blank, motionless each digesting our thoughts while the clock ticked away.

A couple of minutes later my Grandfather walk in, he's steps where audible as they came in contact with the wooden floor, I looked in he's direction, then looked away again. I wasn't mad at him, but I was mad he would not tell me about my parents cause he thought I was a child. He walked past us without saying a word, heading down the hall way then into the attic. I could hear him go us the stairs then the sounds of he's activity faded into a distant noise blending with the noise coming from the streets.

Shortly he came back, he had taken he's glasses off for some reason. He gently squeezed my grandmother's shoulder trying to soothe her a little, she placed her hand on he's sighing deeply, then he beckoned on me to come with him. I followed him into the attic as he lead the way up. He's body posture giving way to he's old age. Shortly we were at the center of the attic. Where a giant clock was floating mid air in the middle of the attic. it had hour glasses for each number on the clock as it rotated to pour the sand in each hourglass back and forth. The short and the long hand of the clock ticking accordingly with one giant move at a time. With the engine of the clock creaking loudly while surrounded by a blue mist flowing in and through the clock.

I had never seen such before, I reach out to touch the mist, waving my hand through it in amusement.

"what is this..i asked, watching a string of the mist flow around my hand.

"This is a Time rift, it can create a loop in time, altering both the future and the present,.. You see before the dawn of time the Narathis were the bearer of the Eon keys, protecting the time realm, called the Eon end's. He paused to to fold he's arm across he's chest, swallowing he's siliva a little. They were the elders of the universe, - Sylpharion, ultharion, lathorim and Tharion. They are all called the Narathis, "the ageless ones" . Protecting the universe and the infinite realms. The clock was still ticking, the engine creaking even louder.

 - Sylpharion had other plans, he wanted to take over the universe, erasing everything that stood in her way. Laying waste to any realm she came in contact with. The elders couldn't let this go on for long so they banished her to the chrono's hallow where she has been held captive for millenniums. She dominated the realm and made the Epochiels her little angels, promising them place in her kingdom when she finally has what she wants. He stopped to see if I under stood every word he said.

Still amuzed I walked around the clock,

 - "magic is real?., I thought to myself.
