As he flipped through the pages of the book in his hands after failing his experiment, the knowledge of computer programming quickly appeared in his mind. It was like a greedy sponge absorbing information about computing and technology, only to improve it afterward.
Since entering this new school, Jimmy had finished reading 100 books and then took a software technology that he had reserved to make money with greedy investors.
Using that technology, Jimmy would join the program he had applied to. If they were smart, they would quickly want to invest in the company offering this product.
Before he knew it, it was time for the school to close. Almost everyone around him had left, with only a few people remaining.
Jimmy put the book back in its original spot and left the library with Ally, followed by Sheldon, who seemed to have a personal challenge to follow him everywhere.
"Will you come tomorrow?"
"No, I have other plans. But don't worry, the work you asked for help with will be in your locker first thing tomorrow."
Ally gave him a strange look.
"I feel like I'm part of something illegal," Sheldon commented while trying to distance himself from Jimmy, but now it was Jimmy who didn't want to part from him.
"You're my star accountant, Sheldon. Have you forgotten our deal?" Jimmy had made a computer for Sheldon; he didn't give it to him as a gift, but since he was his assistant, he needed one.
"Yes, but this has nothing to do with…"
Ally laughed at the conversation between these two genius kids. Right now, in the library, she felt a change in Jimmy, but she didn't dare ask in the library. Now that she looked at him more closely, he had truly changed a lot.
The truth was, they had attracted a lot of attention from the school, in one way or another.
Jimmy, with the help he was offering in exchange for money, had earned unprecedented popularity, thus earning the title of "megabrain." No one wondered how he was able to deliver each of the tasks without getting caught in the process. No teacher could catch him, even though they knew he had done those tasks.
Physically, it was impossible to do what Jimmy was doing without outside help, but since no one cared about that, they didn't delve into the investigation.
But people like Sheldon, who were the first to accuse him to the teachers, knew that sooner or later, he would be caught.
"I'll go this way." Ally pointed to a completely different path than the one the duo was taking and said goodbye.
Jimmy, looking at Ally's back, turned around and continued walking with Sheldon, not paying much attention to her. "Hey, Jimmy, how much will I get if I keep writing those codes in sequence that you taught me?"
"One percent of the profits will be yours. Don't you remember we already talked about this?" Jimmy walked this time in the opposite direction from where he would go to catch the bus.
This time, Sheldon followed him without paying attention to the surroundings. Since he had teamed up with Jimmy, his fearful attitude toward the surroundings had decreased to the point where he tried to be superior to Jimmy in every way.
Of course, things like this didn't bother Jimmy at all.
"That's not fair, why will you get 99 percent of the profits?" Sheldon didn't find that distribution reasonable.
Jimmy, who entered a store to buy some ice cream, asked, "Even if it's a little, that money would help your family financially. I'm giving you these benefits because we're friends. If it weren't for that, do you think I'd need your help writing repetitive codes?"
What Sheldon was doing for Jimmy was writing codes in sequence from a compressed file that would act as a virus, destroying computer files and giving his product immediate use.
As for whether he felt bad about it, Jimmy was just preparing the big companies for an event that would soon begin affecting their new management systems.
"That makes sense…" Sheldon remained silent, as there were many things he wanted to buy with the money Jimmy would give him as profit.
"Here, have an ice cream." Jimmy, after paying, handed an ice cream to Sheldon, who took it, and both ate in silence.
At that moment, Jimmy's mind wandered, and after thinking about it for a while, he felt that he was not yet friends with Sheldon. This kid didn't consider him close, and Jimmy felt the same way.
Since leaving his old friends behind, Jimmy, who thought the change wouldn't affect him much, now thought differently.
The truth was, he missed his friends and hoped to reunite with them someday.
"It's really hot, let's go back." Jimmy said after finishing his ice cream. Having been in this town for over a week, he had learned to move around much better.
"What are you two doing here?"
"Connie…" Sheldon got scared, not thinking anyone would recognize him. But when he saw his grandmother, he thought she wouldn't pay attention to him straying from the path home.
"Wait here, I'll take you home." Connie quickly went inside to buy some useful things like a pack of cigarettes and some lottery tickets.
"Thank you very much, ma'am." Jimmy greeted Sheldon's grandmother respectfully.
Minutes later, Connie came out and quickly drove them home.
