Chapter 14 - The Girl, The Gangsters, and The Truth

The gangsters didn't even see Lin Yu's movements clearly, but they were all knocked down by Lin Yu in the blink of an eye, and they couldn't get up again.

In fact, as a fat house, Lin Yu did not have any fighting skills. Although, because of the super speed and super regeneration of his immortal body, Lin Yu had a perfect physique he had always dreamed of, Lin Yu was still just a brute-force guy, a reckless man without any combat technique. But it didn't matter. In the eyes of Lin Yu, who had super speed, all the movements of the gangsters were no different than still images.

To put it bluntly, a martial arts master who had practiced for decades—unless launching a sneak attack—would stand no chance against a newly awakened super speeder. Just like that old saying from martial arts novels: "In the world of martial arts, speed is the only thing that cannot be defeated."

In this way, there was only one result. The gangsters couldn't hit Lin Yu at all, but none of them could dodge Lin Yu's attacks either.

Lin Yu had to deliberately control his speed so that it appeared normal to ordinary people. Even so, it didn't stop him from easily subduing those gangsters—people who lacked real strength and only bullied passing students or lone women on weekdays.

To onlookers, it just looked like Lin Yu had trained in martial arts—agile and sharp—using refined techniques to take down the thugs.

The girl leaning against the wall saw that Lin Yu was like a hero from those action films, fighting off the gangsters who had surrounded her just moments ago, and now lay defeated on the ground. Stars sparkled in her eyes.

"Little sister, it's school time now. Why are you in such a remote alley?" Lin Yu asked, having taken down the gangsters and walked toward the stunned girl.

"The road here is relatively short." The girl stared dazedly at the fallen gangsters behind Lin Yu. It wasn't until he spoke that she snapped back to reality and replied, "And I'm not a student."

"Even so, you shouldn't take such a secluded path. Look, if it weren't for me today, you might have been molested." Lin Yu said, exasperated. "Girls should prioritize safety when going out. This kind of situation happens exactly because of carelessness."

"Actually, I'm not a girl," the girl suddenly replied, cutting off Lin Yu's scolding.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Lin Yu frowned. After speaking to this "girl" for a bit, he had already started to feel something was off. Her voice was slightly androgynous, and her Adam's apple was a bit prominent.

Could it be…

"Actually, I'm a guy. I'm dressed like this to attend a comic convention." Sure enough, the girl—no, the cross-dressing guy—said, "I thought if I screamed, they'd get grossed out and leave, but they covered my mouth right away."

"Uh..." Lin Yu stared at his pure and delicate face—well, probably thanks to first-class makeup—and the Japanese-style sailor uniform. He wanted to say that maybe shouting would have made them even more excited.

But after glancing at the collapsed gangsters behind him and then back at the cross-dressing guy in front of him, Lin Yu said nothing.

One of the gangsters groaning on the ground overheard their conversation. Realizing they had just tried to assault a man, he trembled uncontrollably.

"Anyway, I still have to thank you." The cross-dressing man said. "Bro, you're a martial arts student, right? You're amazing."

"Ah, I've dabbled a bit," Lin Yu replied casually. "But even if you're a guy, you shouldn't be wandering around places with no surveillance or people. It's not safe."

"I get it. I've learned my lesson." The cross-dressing man laughed. "My name's Bai Meng. And you, bro, what's your name?"

"My name is Lin Yu," he replied. "Since you're fine now, I should go. Be careful from now on."

"Ah, bro, you saved me. I haven't even thanked you properly yet. Why not leave some contact info?" Bai Meng quickly took out his phone from the skirt pocket and said, "Let's add each other on WeChat."

"Enn, okay." Lin Yu hesitated for a moment, then pulled out his phone and added him on WeChat.

"Then I'm off. See you if fate allows," Lin Yu said.

"I'll treat you to a meal when I'm free," Bai Meng smiled.

The two ignored the gangsters still groaning in the alley, walked to the other end together, and waved goodbye. Bai Meng continued toward the manga convention he was attending, while Lin Yu turned into another empty alley, glanced around, and muttered, "This time, nothing like that better happen again."

Finding a blind spot beyond camera surveillance, Lin Yu entered the fourth dimension again, dropped back into the third dimension, and returned to the shuttle disguised as a pyramid.

In the depths of Lin Yu's consciousness, the white rune sphere twitched again. The system let out a long sigh.

[ "Oh!" ]

"Why are you sighing again?" Lin Yu asked, puzzled. Huh? Why did I say 'again'?

[ "No, you heard wrong." ] the system replied.

"En, okay." Lin Yu shook his head, then commanded the pyramid, "Let's go. Go back."

[ "Yes." ] With a whoosh, the shuttle carried Lin Yu away.

The shuttle soon returned to the remote area in the suburbs where Lin Yu had initially activated the pyramid and landed silently.

Lin Yu remained cautious. No matter where the shuttle went, he always returned to the original place. With today's advanced surveillance, if his car vanished from one spot and reappeared somewhere else, someone might come knocking the next day to check.

Although he was playing with probability—just like yesterday, when he asked Xiao Shu to set the chance of being witnessed or discovered while flying with Xiao Xin to zero. Everyone on the ground happened to not look up, and the radar systems conveniently malfunctioned as they passed by.

Even so, Lin Yu believed in playing it safe. If his car really disappeared from one place and suddenly reappeared elsewhere, adjusting the probability of discovery to zero could lead to strange phenomena—like collective memory loss or widespread camera failure. That might cause innocent people to suffer unnecessarily.

On the contrary, doing it the way he did now—driving back from the original location while manipulating probability to ensure zero chance of detection—not only guaranteed secrecy but also prevented harm to others.
