Chapter 65 - Alpha’s Silence

Felix observed the current state of politics—especially the situation he was investigating. Wearing a hat and a face mask that concealed all but his eyes, he moved carefully.

He was the mastermind behind the failures of Fuego's illegal transactions and those on the black market. Slowly, he was dismantling their operations while exposing the filth behind the powerful name some still admired.

He knew someone was watching him—not Fuego's son, but one of the organization's strongest members. Felix could trace every step of those tailing him.

I can't deny that whoever Bernard hired to watch me is good. But why did I enter the enemy's den as a spy in the first place? he asked himself, chuckling.

Why not? Let's see if I can rewrite the fate carved into my siblings' palms.

He was the one who had been leaking the explosive truths about Bernard Fuego.

It's not a scandal—it's the truth, his restless mind argued.

He reignited public interest in a forgotten case: the disappearance and deaths of two siblings. Now, the media and political platforms were swarming. In this case reversal, an innocent and defenseless witness had been imprisoned. The witness, who saw their murder, had also survived the slaughter of their parents as a child. The entire clan was silenced.

Felix would no longer wait for justice to come willingly. If necessary, he would force it to arrive.

Politics was filthy. To navigate it, he partnered with Charles's group and Mikaela's insider knowledge. Charles, embedded deep within the organization, could manipulate internal events more effectively.

Felix allowed Jake to operate freely—for now.

Fernan's soul still lingered around him, and he knew it would take a few months for the memory to fade. But before it did, Fernan would find what he was searching for and finally be able to rest.

Hang in there, Fernan. It will end soon. You'll find peace—and I'll make it up to you.

Felix walked casually, still aware he was being tailed. He changed clothes, removed his disguise, and circled away from his previous location.

He passed by the man tailing him—and saw his face.

It didn't come from our group. It came from the Fuego family itself. He recalled Vince's warning: that there was a snake among them, hidden in their secret organization.

Felix had his hands full. He needed the help of Zenne and William—both were skilled enough to handle situations like this.

"Excuse me," the man who had been following him suddenly called out.

Felix stopped and turned. The man wore a convenience store uniform. "Why?" he asked plainly.

Their eyes locked, silently sizing each other up.

"Nothing." The man turned and walked away.

Felix gave a small nod, yawned, and subtly observed him. He seems skilled at reading people. I should be careful.

He took a photo of the man in secret before walking away. He still had other tasks to do—and the man was still watching him.

Looks like I'm getting dragged deeper into this, he mused.

Instead of visiting Jake, Felix decided to call him later. He needed to finalize their plans—and prepare backup strategies in case one failed.

When he arrived home, he saw Jenny asleep.

Is she traveling again? he wondered. His youngest sibling had also witnessed Fernan's suffering—and his brutal murder.

This had driven Jenny to help Mikaela return to the Fuego mansion in Regondo, where the Fuego estate was located.

Felix knew the plan needed to be perfect. Without precision, everything they had worked for would fall apart.

He had long known that his siblings would eventually be entangled in this web—a war ignited by their parents that still burned. He couldn't allow harm to come to them.

"Brother?" Jenny called, pulling him from his thoughts.

"Where's Greg?" he asked.

"In your room, sleeping," she replied.

He nodded. "I noticed you were having a terrible dream."

Jenny shook her head and rubbed her forehead.

"I understand what's coming," she admitted. "I'm thinking about whether I should help Mikaela."

Felix looked at her. "What do your heart and mind say, Jen?"

He sat in a monoblock chair, staring quietly at his sister.

"I need to help him, brother. Whatever happens, happens," she said, closing her eyes.

"Ellese—this is your wish, to help your twin. I hope you don't regret this decision, letting me accompany your sibling back to the mansion," he replied gently.

Ellese's presence washed over the room like a breeze. Felix stood, approached Jenny, and ruffled her hair.

He tapped her head softly. He had always sworn that none of his siblings would be harmed. That had been his promise ever since their parents were taken from them.

"I'm heading to the basement for a while," he said.

Jenny looked worried—she knew what the basement meant. Felix never allowed his siblings down there. If anything ever went wrong, it was safer that way.

Felix entered the basement, saw his scattered files, and closed the door behind him.

Within those four walls, he was not Felix. He was Alpha.

He gathered his folders, grabbed his laptop and phone, and joined a secure meeting.

Zenne had set it up.

"You're late, Alpha," came Delta's voice from the screen.

Felix didn't reply. This time, he would listen—silently running through all possible outcomes, one by one.
