Chapter 12 - Monsters Attack at School

The sun blazed gently over SMK Keningau II, casting golden rays across the school field where students still chatted about their powers from yesterday's scan. Everything felt oddly peaceful.

Suddenly—

RIPPPP!

A violent tear in space opened right above the center of the field. A swirling portal pulsed with otherworldly light, crackling like broken glass. From it, grotesque monsters began pouring out—horned beasts with spiked tails, crawling shadowlings, and massive ogres with tusks.

Screams erupted. Students fled in panic. Teachers tried to evacuate the area, but the creatures were too fast.

Nel, sitting under a tree nearby, instantly leapt into action. Chelestar, who had just arrived holding a stack of books, dropped them when she saw the chaos.

"N-Nel! Monsters?!"

"I know. This isn't just a blessing side-effect…"

With his expression sharpening, Nel dashed across the field. Chelestar hesitated only for a second before following. The other siblings—May, Nico, Neo, and Easter—weren't on campus. This fight was up to them.

A centipede-like beast charged toward a group of younger students.

Chelestar's single fox tail ignited with spirit flame. "Spirit Snare!" she cried, binding the creature in chains of light. Nel appeared beside her, eyes glowing subtly.

He whispered, "Watch this." And in a blur of movement, the monster was struck down before it could scream.

More creatures poured out, and the two fought as a perfect team. Chelestar would trap or slow them with her Kitsune spells while Nel moved like a phantom, striking with uncanny precision.

Their synergy was effortless.

Eventually, Chelestar grew breathless. "W-We're surrounded!"

"I'll handle the rest."

His eyes flashed with a deeper light—barely noticeable—and time seemed to slow. Nel moved through the crowd of monsters, a ghost of motion, until they were all defeated.

The portal began to close.

The teachers and students who had returned to help stopped in their tracks.

But then—Nel blinked.

And every student, every teacher watching...forgot. The memory of the battle was gone, erased by Nel's eye. All they remembered was a false memory—evacuation drills and nothing more.

Except Chelestar.

Wearing her favorite tinted shades that day, she blinked in confusion. She remembered everything.

As they walked back to the building, Chelestar tugged Nel's sleeve, cheeks pink.

"H-Hey... How did you do all that? The eye… the fighting… You have powers, don't you?"

Nel smiled softly, "I thought you'd ask that eventually."

Chelestar looked away, shy but full of wonder.

And deep within the closing portal… a whisper escaped: "They've found the child of the bang."
