***Laurina's POV***
"Welcome to the 32nd Graduation Ceremony. This is a huge honour as I have personally experienced all these graduations as the vice chancellor" Prof. Sarah's voice rang through the speakers.
It was my graduation today and I was so glad that I am leaving the 8am classes, mid semester tests and everything else behind.
The celebration began in earnest as they started calling out the names, and handing out the certificates. They called all our names, and we had our valedictorian give his speech.
"Congratulations, girl" Emerald came running to me after the celebration an enveloping me in a big hug.
"Thanks, but I think I'mma be getting some scolding, I got a second class upper, uhh" I said, stomping my foot, and rolling my eyes.
"Ey, last I checked your sister didn't do any better" She said, putting her hand on her waist in a sassy manner.
"Oh, come on. I know she slept with Josh but still, I still don't have the energy to remain angry at her, but our relationship will really be ruined" I said, holding my dress and the bouquet of flowers she brought for me.
"Your sister slept with Josh? What?!" She screamed and all eyes of people that were outside hugging family members, turned to look at her.
Shit, I forgot, I didn't tell her.
"Ah, well. How are you?" I smiled, pressing my lips together.
"Don't you dare sidetrack me" She said, pointing her fingers at me.
"Fine. Yes, she slept with him and I caught her red-handed and she also is carrying his child" I said, shrugging my shoulders.
"Why are you acting like it's not bothering you?" She said, coming to stand in front of me.
"Because…I just can't, think back on it. It only makes my heart break and I can't continue bearing that pain, over and over again" I said, as my eyes became welling up, and my heart got heavy and my chest started aching.
"It's okay, come" She said, leading me to seat on a free bench.
"I just couldn't think Josh was one to cheat. He treated me so well. And, he…he didn't even act a bit suspicious" I said, as I burst out crying, resting my head on my palms, as my hand rested on my thigh.
"Here comes the douchebag" She said and I raised up my head to look at who she was referring to.
I saw Josh coming to us with him dressed in his black tux and his graduation gown still on. I hadn't seen him since the night of the incident.
"What to do you want?" Emerald asked, facing him squarely.
"Nothing. I just want to speak to..I want to speak to Laura for a moment" He said, his voice low.
I just stood up. I couldn't take this.
I walked and I heard footsteps behind me, and I heard emerald calling after him. He should be the one following me.
"Laura, listen to me. I'm sorry, okay? I didn't know what happened and I didn't know that she would get pregnant" He said, but I just kept walking.
"I love you!" He said and this made me stop. I cleaned my tears and smirked and turned to face him.
"You…how dare you speak the word 'love'? Do you know, or have any idea what that word means?" I said, facing him and poking his shoulder.
"Look, I'm very sorry. I…I didn't mean for any of this to happen" He said holding my hand.
"Let me go, Josh, or I swear…" I said, trying to free my hand.
His grip became tighter and it became a struggle, with Emerald hitting him and trying to let him go. He pushed her to the floor and she fell ass first.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" I screamed at him, getting angrier by the moment.
"I love you, Laurina. We can work things out" He said as his voice sounded like he was about crying.
Fuck this.
As I lifted my dress to be able to move my leg freely so I can kick him in the balls, but before I could move my leg muscle, my hand became free.
I looked to see what made him leave my hand but I saw him on the floor, trying to get back on his feet. His nose looking broken. I looked to my left to see who the hell punched and so I would offer my unending appreciation.
But lo and behold, it was none other than Devin Klein and the lady that sat next to him in the restaurant.
"Hell no. What the fuck are you doing here?" I asked, ready to face douchebag number 2.
"Can't you see my sister over here is graduating today. I came to celebrate with her. Seems, you both went to the same college but really different majors" He said, scanning me, his eyes resting on my lips, as he licked his.
"Yeah. Well, I'm not ungrateful so I'll say this once, thank you, and happy graduation…" I drawled, hoping to get her name.
"Oh, Sophie. Sophie Sapphire Klein" She said, flashing her white teeth that seemed brighter than my future.
Okay, I might actually like the female species of this man.
"Oh, thank you so much. But we have to leave now. See you later, Mr. and Miss. Klein" Emerald said, dragging me to her car by my hand.
"Is that the guy you said you bumped into at the Klein jubilee?" She asked, her eyes wide.
"Yes. Ugh, he's such an arrogant asshole" I said, rolling my eyes as I scrunched my face into disgust.
"Yeah, he's really handsome" She said, grinning and moving her neck to see his face as he was already walking towards his car with his sister.
"Drive!" I ordered, but my eyes were trained on him. His sculpted face, all edge looked so sharp and on point, his round lips, and brown eyes with long lashes.
Ugh, take me away.
Then my eyes, drifted to his veiny fingers that were adorned with silver and gold rings. This guy was handsome and he knew it. His eyes looked like he was looking at me from the place he was standing, but I highly doubt that.
Until, he smirked. Arrogant.
Soon, Emerald drove off, that he was out of sight and that's when I realized I was staring but she didn't catch that as she was focused on reversing.
We soon arrived at my house, the one I was staying at with my sister and I saw a green truck.
"Look like she has visitors" I spat out and rolled my eyes, getting off Emerald's car.
"Take it easy on her. Bye, girl. I'll see you later" She said, waving at me as I waved back till her car was out of sight.
I opened the door to get into the house, dropping my keys at the entrance key tray, and hanging my jacket. I walked into the sitting room to see someone I have seen in ten years.
"Dad?"
