Chapter 9 - part 10 : whats left behind

Dominic's fists clenched at his sides, knuckles bone-white from the tension. His jaw worked, his breath thick with something between rage and helplessness. Rain streaked down his face, but he didn't move, didn't blink.

"You pushed her too far," he growled, voice low and rough like gravel soaked in regret.

Damien stood just a few feet away, equally drenched, eyes blazing but unreadable. He didn't flinch.

"We both did," he said, calmer than he felt. "But I'm not giving up."

Dominic scoffed, his laugh bitter and hollow. "She asked for space."

"I know," Damien murmured. "But I can't stop thinking about her. Every hour, every second. She's in my head like a curse."

Dominic dragged a hand through his soaked hair, water dripping down his temples. "Then curse me too. Because I can't stop either. I'm not touching her. I'm not calling her. But I'll be damned if I don't protect her from the shadows."

They stood in silence—two men broken open by the same woman, each unwilling to let go, even if it meant bleeding in silence.

They didn't shake hands. Didn't look at each other. But both made the same unspoken vow:

I'll wait for her. I'll fight for her. And when she's ready—she'll choose me.

Meanwhile…

Fiona stood on the rooftop of a building neither of them would ever find.

The rain drenched her clothes, clung to her skin, but she didn't care. Her arms wrapped tightly around her torso, trying to hold herself together as the wind howled like the ache inside her chest.

She didn't regret walking away.

Not from Dominic's suffocating control.

Not from Damien's reckless love that felt like a drug.

Not from the kisses that left bruises and the stares that made her forget who she was.

But God… why did it feel like she'd left pieces of herself behind?

Fragments still trapped in the warmth of Damien's fingertips.

Memories pressed into the firmness of Dominic's arms.

She tilted her head back, eyes closed, letting the sky weep for her.

She wanted peace—but peace never came easy when your heart was a battlefield for two storms.

And deep down, she feared the worst truth of all—

That even if they broke her… she might still go back.
