Chapter 7 - Rules of the heart - Do I know him?

The bus stop was about ten minutes' walk from Megyn's house. Cindy had to pass by Megyn's place on her way there, so the two friends walked together that morning.

Megyn glanced at her phone – 7.57 AM. They had just over thirty minutes to reach Randy County Hospital for their attachment shift.

"I can't wait for these two months of attachment to end." Cindy groaned. "I need my holiday before we go back to campus. Besides, I miss campus life so much."

Megyn laughed. "You mean you miss campus boys."

Cindy grinned. "Okay, may be that too."

Megyn shook her head. Cindy was carefree – something she both admired and worried about. Cindy had a habit of jumping from one relationship to another, never taking anything so seriously.

Currently, the wallpaper on Cindy's phone was a picture of her newest crush – a young doctor from the children's ward.

Megyn raised her eyebrow. "So, how's your doctor friend?"

Cindy smirked. "Should I say I'm a lucky girl? He's exactly what a woman needs."

Megyn rolled her eyes. "You say that about all of them."

Cindy giggled but said nothing.

They reached the bus stop just as a bus pulled in. It was almost as if it had been waiting for them. They boarded quickly, taking separate seats – Megyn somewhere in the middle, Cindy at the back.

As the bus rolled forward, Megyn leaned against the window, lost in thought. She hadn't told Cindy much about her date with Benjamin. Mostly because she wasn't sure how to explain it. She barely knew him, yet she felt something. Something that made her heart race every time she thought of him.

Megyn felt that she was not like Cindy. She was someone who took a lot of precautions when it came to issues that may change her life significantly.

By the time they alighted at the hospital's gate, it was already ten minutes past eight. They both rushed to their workstations, promising each other to meet at lunchtime.
