It was already Friday and Irene got a leave from work that week. The date was in evening and they were to meet at a restaurant not too far from the club for the date. She went there dressed as normal in our black boots, army-green cargo pants and white t-shirt. When she entered the place, she saw Felix already waiting for her.
"Okay this better not be weird." She said to herself and walked towards him. He was looking into his phone and when he noticed someone in front of him he looked up and smiled.
"Wow, you look..."
"Don't even say it. Let's just get this over with."
"Okay have a seat." She sat opposite him and they could see each other.
"Felix see don't make this weird."
"I won't. What do you want to drink?"
"Hennessy"
"Are u sure you can handle that?"
"I'm very sure u can't handle me." He smiled and asked the waiter to get it for her. He took fruit wine instead.
"I want to ask, why do you even like me?"
"What do you mean, aren't you likable?"
"Just answer the god damn question."
"Well I think you're cool and I like your swag."
"So you like me like this?"
"Yeah I wouldn't like it if you changed to become girly."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah and besides it's not like you are not beautiful."
"Okay you're beginning to lose me."
"I'm sorry." He apologized and smiled. They talked for a while before they ate. After eating, they rested. Felix had a car so he offered to take her home but she refused. She wanted to go home alone. When the date was over he had to leave her to do her mind. She left before him because he met a friend and they talked for a while. Along the way, it started raining. Irene was cold and wet but she had no choice but continue under the rain. She wrapped her hands around herself and shivered as she continued. A car coming from behind honked. She turned and the car lights prevented her from seeing properly. The car stopped and the tinted glass wound down.
"Now do you want me to take you home?" She rolled her eyes and smiled.
"Come on get in."
"She didn't hesitate because she had no other options." She entered the car and he drove off. Not long enough, they arrived at her place.
"Here we are."
"Thanks I guess."
"Sure thing. Okay bye." She smiled and went under shade and watched him drive off. She turned and knocked on the door of the apartment. Kevin opened it and she came in. She had to go in, change and also warm up. When she came out, she sat beside Kevin.
"So how was it?"
"How was what?"
"The date"
"Oh that, well it wasn't too bad."
"Really?" Kevin said as a smile spread across his face.
"Don't think that way. Felix is cool and I just like him as a friend. Nothing more."
"At least it's a good start."
"I never thought we would have anything in common."
"Like what?"
"Well for starters, he's a good gamer, he doesn't like girly things too and he's sought of crazy like me."
"Then that settles it. You're a perfect match."
"Don't make me change my mind."
"Don't worry, time will tell."
"Tell what exactly?"
"You'll see, trust me." Just then, his phone rang and he picked the call.
"Hey babe"
"Oh my god." She just stood up and left. She came back later when he was through with the call.
"My girlfriend is coming over next week."
"Thanks for the alert. I'll make sure not to be around."
"Irene I want you to meet her first and then see if you'll like each other."
"Kevin I already know I won't."
"Did you know that you would like Felix?"
"Well...well that's a difference case. It's very different."
"Come on Irene, please." Irene sighed and looked at him.
"Kevin I'm just gonna do this for you."
"And I appreciate."
"Fine, when is she coming?"
"Next week Wednesday."
"Okay I can't wait." She said sarcastically and left.
The following week came and Kevin was seriously preparing for his girlfriend's visit. Irene would see him and leave him to do his things. After all, all she had to do was to see his girlfriend and disapprove of her. The day finally came and everything was set. Kevin had to make sure things were the way he wanted it to be before going to pick his girlfriend up. Few minutes later he arrived with her but Irene was in her room.
"Okay bae, I need you to close your eyes and I'll call down my sister."
"Okay but be quick. You know I don't like being kept waiting.
"Okay, Irene we're back. It's time to come out."
"Okay okay quit screaming." She said from where she was. As he heard her coming closer, he told her to close her eyes too. Irene being who she was, hesitated at first but after much pressuring from him, she had to do it. Kevin was really excited. They were already facing each other but were still standing with their eyes on closed.
"Okay, you can open your eyes now." They slowly opened it and then...
"Ann" Irene murmured. Ann gasped and hugged Irene very tightly but she was still frozen in shock.
"I thought I'ld never see you again." Ann said after they hugged.
"Wait , do you two know each other?"
" Know each other? We were very close friends in school before the incident."
"Wow, see Irene I told you that you'd like her." Irene looked at him and faked a smile still out of words.
"Oh no, oh no...." She repeated continuously in her mind. After the expulsion, she was a bit glad that she wasn't with Ann anymore because she was a big temptation but now that she's back in her life from nowhere, it's a big problem. The bigger problem was how she would tell Kevin that his girlfriend is also her 'girlfriend'. It didn't make sense at all.
"I can't believe the both of you are siblings."
"Yeah great." Irene said sarcastically. She was happy to see Ann but her brother was going to be crushed if he found out the truth. "What am I going to do now?" She asked herself. Kevin excused himself to go get the drinks and when he did, Irene had to make a move. She dragged Ann to the side and Ann placed her hands on Irene's shoulders. Irene slowly removed it and said to her
"Just stop."
"What's wrong, aren't you happy to see me?" Ann asked her.
"I am, trust me but I don't think this can work again."
"Why not?"
"What do you mean why not? You're dating Kevin you can't also date me."
"Says who?"
"I can't do it anymore and besides we're both girls remember? He was very disappointed when I was expelled not only because I was, I mean that's a normal thing already, but because of what led to it so imagine how he will feel when he finds out that it was with you. Ann's mood changed immediately.
"I don't understand. So you're trying to break up with me?"
"Why are you talking like we were ever in a relationship." Ann's heart shattered at the statement.
"I'm sorry it had to be this way Ann but it's my brother or nobody else." She said finally and walked out on Ann.
"If that's how she wants it then she should get ready for a new game." She said to herself walked around thinking of how to get back at her. The rest of the day went fine like nothing ever happened.
