Chapter 86 - Chapter 86 Summons Give Xp?

In an instant—

A wave of black malice erupted.

Centered on Khajiit, a dense magical aura billowed outward like an invisible shockwave—pure negative energy spreading in every direction, seething with death.

Minori narrowed his eyes and took a single step back.

So… this is his trump card.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Behind him, two summoned Guardian Angels flapped their radiant wings. Without a word, they moved in front of him, spears leveled, intercepting the wave of negative energy with their divine presence.

Boom—!

A tremor sounded from beneath their feet.

Puff. Puff. Puff.

Rotting arms burst forth from the ground, clawing upward with ravenous intent. Decayed corpses, twisted bones, and eyeless skulls pulled themselves free of the earth.

Some climbed from cracked tombstones, dragging their broken torsos by their arms like grotesque insects. The stench of death thickened in the air.

Puff!

One undead's hand pierced through the soil beneath Minori's feet—but before it could rise, the Guardian Angel's spear thrust down with divine force, impaling it instantly.

You have gained experience: +1[Experience: 171 / 10,000]

Minori blinked.

He hadn't moved.

The angel's kill gave him experience.

Interesting.

He had never verified whether summoned beings could contribute to his growth. If true, this meant his summons could potentially farm for him—though…

1 point of experience?

These undead were clearly lowest-rank, but the gain was pitiful. Was this a consequence of using summons to kill?Or was the low yield due to the enemies' weak level compared to his?

...Now's not the time to consider that.

"Rooooar!""Hissss!""Awooooo—!"

More undead flooded into view. The cemetery's ground seemed to bubble with corpses.

Over a hundred had already appeared.

Khajiit stood atop the ruined steps of the mausoleum, smiling thinly.

"Undead Control."

His voice slithered through the gloom like a curse.

"You thought I'd let your allies simply draw them away?"

"This is a graveyard. Corpses are in no short supply."

"Kill him."

At his command, the swarm surged.

Minori remained calm, his eyes locked on Khajiit.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

The angels flew forward, spears glowing with holy radiance, cleaving apart the shambling undead. Limbs and heads fell like autumn leaves.

Minori barely moved.

He spoke, his tone steady:

"Quantity means nothing when all you command are trash-tier undead."

Khajiit's expression darkened—but he did not stop smiling.

Suddenly—

Splat!

A blood-red intestine shot out from within the swarm, slick and pulsing. It coiled tightly around one of the Guardian Angels like a snake, yanking it violently from the sky.

Bang!

The angel crashed to the ground, struggling, wings pinned by sheer numbers.

Though the zombies could not pierce its armor, the foul negative energy of their bodies corroded the divine creature from within.

Boom—!

The angel dissipated in a burst of sacred light.

Minori's eyes narrowed as the grotesque form that launched the attack came into view—

It was a human-shaped corpse, bloated and egg-like, with a wide horizontal mouth cracked open in its middle, revealing pulsating intestines.

The tendrils had come from inside.

Low-class undead: Viscera Egg.

Disgusting.

Even Minori wrinkled his nose.

Then—

Splat!

Six more undead erupted from the swarm, skeletal and covered in dark, leathery skin. They leapt unnaturally fast, claws raking at the second Guardian Angel, dragging it down as well.

Scavengers.

Another flash of light. The second angel was destroyed.

Khajiit had neutralized both summons without expending a single high-tier spell.

He knows about faith magic.

He must've studied the summoning system Minori was using.

That level of familiarity meant only one thing—Khajiit had once been a faith-based caster himself.

Khajiit's voice echoed from the stairs, mocking and cold.

"If that's all you've got, then it's already too late to beg for mercy."

He raised his arms theatrically.

"Do you think your angels will save you?"

"Faith-based resurrection couldn't even bring back my mother."

His words twisted with bitterness.

"I needed time… time to create magic that could truly return the dead. But humans have short lives. So—"

He spread his arms.

"—I abandoned humanity."

"Faith, morality, honor. All worthless."

"Only undeath lasts forever."

He thrust out his staff.

"Now die."

The undead surged forward, tendrils whipping and claws slashing.

Minori's cloak fluttered in the foul wind.

His hand moved beneath his robes.

Snap.

A scroll cracked in his palm, its magic released instantly.

Flash.

Two circles of divine light formed in front of him—one left, one right.

Fwoooosh—!

Blades of flame split the darkness.

The Viscera Egg's intestine burned mid-flight, crumbling to ash. The scavengers following it were cut down in sequence—six precise strikes from swords wreathed in divine fire.

Then—

Phew—

A soft wind blew.

Two flaming archangels floated on either side of Minori, their bodies framed in burning halos, wings blazing golden, swords crackling with celestial heat.

In the dark night, their radiance turned the area around Minori into a field of holy light.

The undead hesitated, snarling and shrieking, but none dared to charge.

Minori stood silent.

His black robe obscured his face, the flames reflecting off his hidden form.

Bathed in sacred brilliance, he radiated mystery and divinity.

Across the field, Khajiit—cloaked in blood-red robes and filth—looked like a corrupted shadow from the underworld.
