Chapter 291 - The Tragedy of the Bright Realm

Boom!

A thunderous roar shook the heavens and the earth. Above the mixed zone of the Star Dou Forest, a mushroom cloud of dust erupted.

The earth-shaking spectacle terrified nearby soul masters, sending chills down their spines, while countless soul beasts scattered in all directions, forming a massive beast tide in the process.

The soul masters hunting in the Star Dou Forest were utterly doomed.

After a long while, when the dust cleared, a colossal crater spanning over a thousand meters emerged at the center of the explosion. Floating within were nearly twenty soul rings, most originating from creatures thousands to tens of thousands of years old.

These were clearly the soul beasts obliterated by the blast. Not only the beasts, but the hunting squad from earlier had also been reduced to ashes—no bones remained.

Although Emperor Tian and Xiong Jun had mitigated most of the four-colored light sphere's power, the soul beasts couldn't escape this calamity.

The residual energy of the light sphere lingered, silver threads of wind blades and spatial force drifting in all directions. Frenzied lightning snakes writhed wildly, while extreme cold froze the surrounding forest, forming a small icy world.

Even the composed Emperor Tian trembled at the sight, glancing up at the silver sphere in the sky with rare fear in his eyes.

"Damn it… what the hell is that thing?"

Xiong Jun's voice wavered. If he had gone up to block it earlier, he'd probably be dead—or worse, crippled.

Meanwhile, Gu Yue Na belatedly realized what had occurred in the Star Dou Forest.

She nearly lost control. Since the Great War of the Divine Realm, she hadn't felt so suppressed.

The gods were one thing—they had strength to back it up.

But this human… was despicable beyond measure, using the forest's soul beasts to threaten her.

Not just despicable—he was insane. Doing this, didn't he worry that she might strike him in anger?

Gazing at the restless Bright Realm hovering above the forest, Gu Yue Na could sense the energy within. If it fully erupted, the destructive force would at least match that of a third-tier god—far beyond what her damaged body could withstand.

She herself felt no fear—but she couldn't ignore the soul beasts' welfare.

Looking at Huo Yuhao again, Gu Yue Na realized this human was a catastrophe in the making. She couldn't allow him to grow unchecked, but she couldn't watch the core area's soul beasts perish either.

She no longer doubted this human's resolve for mutual destruction. He was a madman. And she knew—what had just happened was only a warning. If there was a next time, the entire core region could face disaster.

Though unwilling, she released Huo Yuhao, then slipped away through space.

She didn't want to see him again—otherwise, she feared she'd lose control and smack him dead.

On the spot, Huo Yuhao knelt, gasping. Gu Yue Na's power was so immense, it crushed all thoughts of resistance. Everything he tried felt pale and powerless against her.

This was the final straw; he had made a mortal enemy of the dragoness. Huo Yuhao knew he had little choice.

Never assume your charm matters—before absolute strength, such notions are laughable.

Those fanfiction protagonists, cooking meals or whispering sweet nothings to win her heart? Dream on.

The reality: Gu Yue Na despised humans. If not for Huo Yuhao having seized the fate power of the auspicious beast, she would have swatted him like a fly the instant he appeared. No chance to threaten her at all.

Without equal power, Huo Yuhao had to be insane to negotiate influence. Any falter in his momentum, and Gu Yue Na would test and push him to the brink, arranging his future as she saw fit.

Blood seeped from his lips. Huo Yuhao forced a bitter smile—though he had repelled Gu Yue Na, the cost was immense.

His injuries aside, the Bright Realm itself had taken a hit. Its defensive array, though formidable, had been damaged. One misstep in such a tightly woven system could be catastrophic.

Now, if left unrepaired, the Bright Realm might even collapse over time.

But the Bright Realm wasn't designed for combat. It had defense, but no offensive capability—self-destruction aside, which would be equivalent to activating a self-destruct sequence.

Drawing the Life Carving Blade, Huo Yuhao began what seemed like self-harm. The blade's tip pierced his flesh, siphoning vast life force into his body to heal his wounds.

Fortunately, enough time had passed since its last use, and the blade's life force had replenished. Within a minute, Huo Yuhao was fully restored.

Within the Star Dou Forest, Emperor Tian and the others watched the Bright Realm warily, fearing more chaos.

"Emperor Tian, let's return. He won't act recklessly again, right?"

At that moment, Gu Yue Na's voice reached Emperor Tian, reassuring him. In his mind, nothing could happen that their master couldn't handle.

Instinctively, Emperor Tian wanted to question what had occurred, who had attacked them—but before he could, a spatial gate appeared high above. Huo Yuhao stepped through.

Huo Yuhao intended to repair the Bright Realm. To prevent Gu Yue Na from striking during the repairs, he chose to do it within the Star Dou Forest.

The Bright Realm had its own defenses. In its current state, even a Limit Douluo couldn't breach it. Gu Yue Na, however, could. But in the forest, that threat was minimized—unless she didn't care about the soul beasts' survival.

"Who are you?"

Seeing a human appear, Emperor Tian and the others were on high alert. Huo Yuhao's cultivation was merely that of a Soul Emperor—but who had seen a Soul Emperor traverse space?

It was laughable in hindsight: the mighty Beast God, the 800,000-year-old Golden-Eye Black Dragon King, now a frightened bird at the first sign of danger.

Xiong Jun and Biji also watched Huo Yuhao warily.

"It's him."

Only Wang Qiu'er's gaze was complicated.

Ignoring them, Huo Yuhao floated forward. The outer wall of the Bright Realm opened, allowing him entry, where he began repairing the damaged array.

Seeing this, Emperor Tian and the others were shocked, eyes flashing with ferocity—they now fully realized the human had caused the prior chaos.

Within the Bright Realm, Huo Yuhao stood in the void. His fingers traced patterns in the air, glowing runes appearing at his fingertips and merging into the array.

Having done this once before, he was now far more adept. Within three hours, the damaged array was fully restored.

Yet Huo Yuhao did not stop. He floated to the center of the array.

Suddenly, his aura intensified. A profound, mystical energy radiated from him. At his fingertips, new runes formed—different from any before. Fine golden veins ran through the symbols, adding an arcane depth to the already enigmatic array.
