Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 Roommate Dai Huabin

"Is that so?" Shi Yu walked in and saw that the room hadn't been completely cleaned yet, so he wanted to help share some of the work.

"I'll do it, you should be my young master's classmate from now on, and a roommate, how could I let you do this?" The person smiled and politely refused.

"You doing this makes me feel a bit awkward. This is a two-person dorm, I have an obligation to clean a part of it, I don't want to trouble you with everything." Shi Yu smiled, took the broom, and started cleaning.

Seeing Shi Yu like this, the person didn't insist too much. He wanted to do something else but found there was nothing else to do, so he could only stand there.

"By the way, student, why didn't I see you bring any clothes?" The person asked casually.

"I didn't buy many clothes, just the one I'm wearing," Shi Yu replied casually.

The clothes he was wearing were bought after coming to this world, and he only bought this one piece, plus a pair of shoes.

All the other money was used for food and lodging during this period. Now he only has ten copper coins left, which is not much different from having only ten dollars left.

If it weren't for Song Lingzhen providing him with food and lodging these past few days, it would have been difficult for him to fill his stomach.

"I see," the person understood, a hint of disdain flashing in his eyes. It seemed he was from a poor family with no background.

Shi Yu didn't pay too much attention to him. Anyway, they were probably just passersby to each other, so there was no need to care too much about what the other person thought.

"By the way, what's your young master's name?" Shi Yu asked.

"Dai Huabin." Shi Yu looked at the person in surprise.

"You know our young master?" The person asked curiously.

"No, I don't," Shi Yu shook his head, thinking to himself that this luck was quite strange, to actually be in the same dorm as Dai Huabin.

He knew a little about Dai Huabin: pampered, arrogant, with a bit of a young master's air.

Being his roommate didn't feel like a comfortable thing to do, and conflicts were likely to arise.

But there was nothing he could do. He had no background, so could he just change dorms as he pleased?

Since he was here, he would make the best of it. Shi Yu could only comfort himself this way.

"Our young master is the son of the Duke White Tiger of the Star Luo Empire. Future promotion and ennoblement are inevitable. He will be one of the important figures in the Star Luo Empire."

The person said somewhat proudly, as if following such a master was a very glorious thing.

"Impressive," Shi Yu responded casually. He would just listen if the other party wanted to praise Dai Huabin; there was no need to argue, he wasn't a contrarian.

"In the future, you can try to gain more favor with the young master. If he's happy, he might give you considerable benefits," the person suggested.

He wanted to develop Shi Yu into his young master's subordinate and follower, which might be useful in Shrek Academy later.

Shi Yu showed a polite yet awkward smile and didn't respond.

He had some backbone as a person. He didn't envy the powerful and wealthy, didn't hate the rich, and wouldn't lower himself to curry favor with them.

He wouldn't die without glory and wealth. How could he bow and scrape before the powerful and wealthy?

"Don't be so ignorant. In Shrek Academy, if you hang out with our young master, you'll definitely live well, enjoy great prestige, and have unlimited new clothes, all made of fine silk. Look at what I'm wearing, it's ten golden soul coins, perhaps dozens of times the value of your clothes," the person spoke with increasing excitement.

Shi Yu was starting to get annoyed. After quickly sweeping the floor clean, he lay down on his bed.

"I've been quite tired from traveling these past few days and want to sleep. Make yourselves at home," Shi Yu briefly instructed, then closed his eyes and slept, ignoring them.

"He doesn't know what's good for him," the other person muttered softly.

Shi Yu heard it but pretended not to, and fell asleep on his own. He hadn't rested well at all during the seven days after transmigrating to ten thousand years ago. Now, lying down, he naturally fell asleep, not even bothering to think about the issues in his mind.

Not long after he fell asleep, a tall, richly dressed young man walked in.

"Young master," the two people quickly went over and greeted him respectfully.

Dai Huabin nodded casually and looked at Shi Yu, who was lying asleep on the other side.

"This is your roommate. I just asked, his name is Shi Yu. He seems to have no background and is quite poor," one of the people said to Dai Huabin.

"Got it. You two can leave first. Find a place to stay near the Academy. I will contact you if I need anything," Dai Huabin instructed.

"Yes," the two left together.

Dai Huabin sat down on his bunk. The two beds faced each other, with a distance of about two meters in between.

He took off his shoes, got into bed, and started cultivating on his own. A white-gold light appeared on the surface of his body, and a White Tiger phantom was behind him.

It was just relatively faint; the Martial Soul phantom only roughly appears during cultivation.

Shi Yu slept until dusk. When he woke up, he felt refreshed and comfortable and stretched lazily.

Seeing someone cultivating opposite him, he automatically judged his identity to be Dai Huabin.

He carefully sized up Dai Huabin, feeling a sense of the novel coming to life.

Dai Huabin's physical condition was quite good. He was handsome, with a bit of dominance mixed with masculinity, possibly influenced by his White Tiger Martial Soul.

He was tall and well-built, looking like he could fight well.

Dai Huabin withdrew from his cultivation state and opened his eyes just as he saw Shi Yu looking at him from across the room.

"Hello," Shi Yu greeted him with a smile.

The unpleasantness of the two servants didn't affect his perception of Dai Huabin.

After all, they hadn't even said a word to each other yet. It would be a bit prejudiced to immediately label Dai Huabin as a difficult young master just because of his servants.

Dai Huabin just nodded slightly, appearing very aloof. He checked the time, got out of bed, put on his shoes, and planned to go out to eat.

He really was a bit difficult to get along with... Shi Yu also had no intention of trying to warm a cold shoulder and had no thoughts of further communication.

He rubbed his hungry stomach, also got out of bed, put on his shoes, and needed to go find something to eat.

The two left the dorm one after another, with no intention of going together.

Dai Huabin left first, stopping in the hallway to wait for someone.

Shi Yu, however, walked straight out of the dorm. As soon as he reached the park entrance, he subconsciously looked towards Mu En's position. The old Senior was still lying there.

"Senior, why aren't you off work to eat at this hour?" Shi Yu spoke to Mu En quite naturally.

Mu En was like a normal old Senior and responded, "Not hungry yet."

"You're more resistant to hunger than us young people," Shi Yu said with a smile, giving Mu En a thumbs-up.

He didn't say anything else, walked out of the park, and followed the signs towards the dining hall.

Mu En looked at Shi Yu's back for a couple more seconds, then continued to lie there leisurely.

"I need to find a part-time job, otherwise I won't even be able to afford food," Shi Yu, eating steamed buns in the dining hall, seriously considered this issue.

His dinner was two steamed buns and a bowl of porridge, costing him three copper coins. This was the cheapest dinner combination.

He had seven copper coins left out of ten. He could still afford breakfast tomorrow, but lunch would definitely be more expensive, and whether he could afford it was a question mark.

It was true that lodging was provided here, but not food. The Teacher Song who brought him here only promised to cover food during the journey.

As for living expenses after enrollment, he would have to figure them out himself.

"I can't possibly be stumped by a meal, can I?" Shi Yu had a headache. After eating, he started asking around in the dining hall to see if there were any part-time jobs available there.

This way, he should get free food and some wages, killing two birds with one stone.

He currently had no other way to earn money, so he could only find a job with no entry requirements first.

"You need to come here immediately after class every noon and afternoon to help serve food. Afterwards, you also need to wash dishes. Food is provided for lunch and dinner, and the monthly wage is ten silver soul coins," the Killing Ground Manager told Shi Yu.

"Okay," Shi Yu nodded in agreement, feeling that the wage was relatively high.

Ten silver soul coins was equivalent to one thousand copper coins, which could be seen as a thousand yuan.
