We change into our couple pajamas—fluffy, soft, and ridiculously adorable. Mine has little cats all over it, and his has tiny carrots. Why carrots? Because apparently, he thinks humans wear clothes with their "favorite edible things."
"You like rice, right?" he asks, tugging at his carrot pajama sleeve. "So you wear rice sleep cloth next time?"
"Sleep cloth…? You mean pajamas. And no. I don't want rice printed all over me like I fell asleep in a sushi bar."
He grins like that was the funniest thing he's heard all day. I roll my eyes and plop onto the bed, grabbing my blanket and wrapping it around myself like a burrito.
"Come on, let's sleep. No more talking."
Jiang crawls onto the bed with the elegance of a newborn goat. He flops next to me, then leans his head close to mine. Too close. Suspiciously close.
"…You blink different when you lie," he whispers.
"What?"
"Just saying," he replies with a cheeky smile and pokes my cheek.
