Chapter 4 - Hero?

In the kingdom of Esterea, in a massive white hall, surrounded by what seemed like 20 high priests, a white light shone. After disappearing, what stood there was 23 high school children, all looking confused.

"Where are we?" One boy asked.

"Welcome heroes!" They all heard and as they looked to see who was speaking, they saw a man with a luxurious crown on his head.

"Where are we?" Someone asked again.

"You're in a world called Caste, summoned by Goddess Thistea, to save this world." the king explained.

"This is like those bullshit comics I've seen." One kid said.

"Please, heroes, we ask of you to save this world." The king said once more.

"What should we do?" A girl who finally gained her senses asked again.

"Defeat the demon king." One priest explained, looking holier than the rest.

"Can we go home if we do so?" The girl asked.

"Yes." The king answered.

"Can we like talk about it for a second." A boy asked.

"Yes."

The group than got together, disregarding previous social roles to talk.

"What do you all think?" Brandon, a brown-haired boy, who was the most popular in school asked.

"I think we should." Lucinda, a blonde, popular girl said.

"Just think of all the people dying." Quinton, a black- haired, handsome anti-social boy said.

"Yeah, we have to think of others too." Harold, one of Brandon's friends said.

"Okay, all in favor, raise your hand." Brandon said.

All 23 students raised their hands, showing their eagerness.

"We'll do it." Brandon said turning to the king.

"Great, now we'll do aptitude tests to see what class suits you most." The king explained and gestured for them to follow him. After walking for five minutes in a mid-evil hallway, they arrived in another white room. In the middle of the room, stood a massive crystal.

"Allow me to explain your classes. There are six classes. Swordsmen, which as you guessed use their swords and an energy called aura to defeat their foes. Mages, who specialize in long distance and use mana. Assassins, they use aura too, however they specialize in stealth and used more for scouting or doing sneak attacks. Tanks, they use aura to strengthen their body and protect mages. Healers, they use mana to heal those in danger and finally a hero. There can only be one hero at a time and a hero can use both mana and aura." The king patiently explained each role.

"Now that you know the basics, you will each place your hand on the crystal to receive your class."

"Okay, I'll go first." Quinto said, placing his hand on the crystal. The next moment, a few words appeared above the crystal. Assassin.

"Nice, my stats look decent too." He spoke.

"And what are those stats?" The king asked.

"Strength: 115, Speed: 210, Health: 85, Aura: 200, Focus: 150, Perception: 170."

As he talked, he could see the king becoming more and more baffled.

"Is this weak." He asked.

"The average level one summoned 'hero' has about 700 total stat point, you have way more." The king explained.

"Maybe I'm just lucky." Quinton sound humble, but really, he was super happy. He wanted to be the hero, but these points also work.

"Y... Yeah, next." The king just went on to moving things on. Maybe other people were lucky too. However, his hope was unfounded. Everyone except Brandon tested and although no hero, meaning Brandon would be the hero, no one else' stats were on Quinton's level. Everyone else's stats were around 700.

Brandon walked to the crystal, placed his hand, and sure enough, Hero.

"What are your stats?" The king asked, curiously.

"Uh, 200 for everything except mana and aura which are 300."

"We are saved." The king shouted.

"We thank Goddess Thistea for giving us heroes as strong as these." A priest shouted.

As they were walking, Quinton, who originally didn't seem happy about Brandon's stats, had a change of heart.

' I've read countless comics and novels, and the jealous ones usually die first, so instead, lets just out perform him.'
