How to establish a cult?
This question is really too easy for New Dynasty Elegance, completely lacking in challenge.
Find a vague passage in the Bible or Buddhist scriptures that can be used to answer other questions, then expand upon it to create a doctrine.
For example, "form is emptiness," or "God loves the world," then select a character as the object of worship.
This is quite broad, figures like Shakyamuni or Brother Ye are suitable, or more extreme ones like Satanism, which directly choose to worship Satan. It could also be some abstract concepts like truth, science, collective unconscious, or even a heap of spaghetti.
But the object of worship cannot be the cult leader themselves; the leader can only exist as a prophet sent by God. After all, the leader doesn't have the ability to feed thousands with five loaves and two fishes.
