Simply put, Alka could only simulate changes in his hands and legs. As for other parts, he hadn't seen them, so there was no possibility of simulation.
"But this is a bit too impractical," Alka lamented. "The sensation of controlling these threads is vastly different from that of controlling my hands. They're completely unmanageable."
Controlling his actual hands was merely a matter of controlling two arms, but each individual thread felt like trying to control an entire arm. The threads manifested from both his arms numbered in the hundreds, at least—a dense, overwhelming mass that was simply impossible to manage.
"You don't necessarily have to simulate both hands completely," Lucilia, who was nearby, proposed after a moment's thought. "You mentioned that those threads are analogous to human limbs, so why not try simulating just the scope of a finger or a palm?"
Hearing this, Alka considered it. The possibility seemed quite high, so he said, "Alright, I'll give it a try."
