Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Merman

Early morning.

On a hillside outside the town.

A figure was carrying a huge log, climbing, jumping, and doing push-ups.

Engaging in various forms of training.

"Your Highness, are you really not going to take a break?" Alyris asked worriedly from the side.

Kana shook his head with a smile once again: "Really, don't worry about me, Alyris. I'm not feeling tired yet, trust me.

You should already know about my physical strength, it's quite good, isn't it?"

"But, but..."

"Don't worry, it's fine."

But the problem is, this really isn't about physical strength, who trains like this anyway?

This is just putting your body through unnecessary suffering, maybe by the time your strength increases, your body will already have various issues.

This was what Alyris was most worried about.

Training like this, the internal problems are the real concern.

What Alyris didn't know was that these after-effects didn't exist for Kana.

Muscle strain? Organ load? Joint damage?

What are those? They don't exist.

This body is no longer a frail entity.

Although fatigue can still be felt, it's very minimal, always in a subtle state.

It hasn't even reached the point where heavy breathing is necessary.

A datafied body isn't immune to fatigue, physical strength doesn't run out, it just greatly extends the stamina reserve.

On the personal attributes status bar, there's not even a negative state of fatigue.

It wasn't until noon that Alyris finally stopped intervening.

Because it was apparent that Kana's body might be different.

Otherwise, at this level, it wouldn't be a problem of willpower, the body itself would strike.

"Are you really okay with this?"

Blake, who had been watching from a distance, couldn't help but speak.

Another knight next to him—Rilla said, "It shouldn't be a problem, it looks like the constitution is naturally good, after all, it's the royal family."

They somewhat knew a few things.

At this point, Kana also finished his continuous morning training.

Sitting down, he asked, "Alyris, don't you need to train at your stage now?"

All morning, he only saw Alyris warming up a bit beside him, and then she kept worrying about him from time to time.

Alyris nodded: "Mm, after becoming an official knight, training doesn't have much effect anymore."

"What about after that?"

"After that?" Alyris was a bit puzzled.

"I mean how does one improve their strength after that?"

"Combat, honing skills."

Upon hearing this answer, Kana fell into thought.

He suddenly remembered that all melee professions had some skills without special powers before reaching level three.

Like Shield Strike, Chop, Jump Slash, Charge.

After level three, some skills with obvious special effects started to appear, which could be considered as having special abilities.

Like Bloody Slash, Trample, Shield of Anti-Magic.

So basically, pure physical attributes reach a limit after level three, and after that, you need to rely on special powers.

"Then you should really think about how to awaken that power within you." Kana said.

That's Blood Magic.

All royal family members have it, Alyris was actually the result of an experiment by her mother.

In the game plot, Alyris's personal storyline and the Blood Race birth storyline almost explicitly indicated this situation.

"The Count has already mentioned it to me, but I might need some more time." Alyris looked at her palm.

She could feel that there was something different inside her body, like she could control it, and yet couldn't.

"No rush, take your time, we have a bit of time." Kana patted Alyris on the shoulder and said with a smile.

The two left and rejoined Blake and the others before returning to the town.

After having a meal, they strolled around the town, then Kana headed straight in the direction of the riverbank.

They were at a river bend where the water wasn't rapid.

The river was very broad, you could only see the opposite bank from a distance.

At this river bend, it already felt like a lake.

Several small fishing boats could be seen along the riverbank, and there were places to dry nets nearby.

There were also a few fishermen gathered on the riverbank doing something.

"Damn it, Old Pete, how did you catch a fishman?"

"I didn't catch it, it ran into the net by itself. I thought I had caught a big fish. These little monsters are really annoying."

"Quick, put it back in the river, otherwise those fishmen will come to bother us again, forget about peaceful fishing for a few months."

"I lost a small boat some time ago, could it be those fishmen stole it?"

"Fishmen don't need boats, you idiot."

"Or, should we kill it? The fishmen wouldn't know anyway. If we put it back, what if they say we caught it?"

Hearing this, the group seemed to see some sense in it and started contemplating.

"What are you doing?" Blake suddenly said.

The sudden voice startled them.

They looked over guilty, seeing a few knights, they quickly lowered their heads.

Old Pete hurriedly explained: "Honorable knights, we accidentally caught a fishman in our net."

As they spoke, they stepped aside.

Behind them, there was a net where a fishman was struggling inside, pulling at the net, and jabbering as if cursing.

The fishman was very short, with short limbs, a head, and a pair of bulging eyes, looking quite stupid.

The exterior skin had some gray patches with some blue spots as highlights.

In the sunlight, it glistened, with a layer of mucus on the body surface.

"If it was unintentional, let it go, we don't have any conflict with the fishmen across the river."

Blake said directly.

He knew since childhood that fishmen existed across the river.

But they didn't rely on this river for life, and the fishmen were on the opposite side, both sides coexisted peacefully for more than 10 years like this.

Moreover, they actually overheard the fishermen's intentions on their way over.

"Put it back, it shouldn't be much of a problem. If you kill it, you'll cause unnecessary trouble."

Old Pete quickly nodded: "Yes, we were too selfish. You're kind, my lord."

"What are you standing there for? Let it go quickly."

The fishermen behind them hurriedly moved to open the net, releasing the fishman.

The moment the fishman was freed, it started jumping and cursing in place, looking very angry.

After shouting jibber-jabber a few times, it walked directly towards the water.

Blue Spot Fishmen, there were fishmen here after all.

But that makes sense, after all, this wasn't a dead area yet at the start of the subsequent plotline.

However, Kana remembered that the fishmen living by the coast near the Newbie Village seemed to be this tribe.

Thinking about this, Kana quickly shouted: "Wait a minute!"

However, the fishman couldn't understand at all and didn't even look back, heading straight into the river.

"Gula Gwa!"

Strange sounds were shouted, and the fishman seemed to understand, paused its steps, and turned around.

Its big eyes showed confusion.

"Gwali Gugila!" Kana shouted out energetically, gesturing wildly.

And the fishman seemed to understand something and came back.

Under the confused, puzzled, and shocked gazes of the crowd.

One person and one fish this way, gestured while jabbering a conversation.

"Pfft!"

Alyris finally couldn't hold in her laughter, turned away, and her shoulders shook from the amusement.

They gestured energetically for quite a while.

Finally, Kana stood up, nodding his head.

"I've had a good talk with him." He turned to look at Old Pete: "Do you mind giving us a ride across?"

Old Pete shook his head vigorously: "It's my honor, please follow me, my lords."

He hurried off to prepare.

Alyris and the others looked at Kana with curious eyes, and at the fishman next to his leg, glancing around.

"What's up?"
