Chapter 121 - CHAPTER 121

c121 – Hire Hit to Assassinate Himself

In the dark void of Universe 6, a towering tree floated in the vacuum its trunk thick with divine energy, its roots piercing into fragments of ruined planets, drawing nutrients from the residual ki in space. The tree stretched high and wide, and over twenty crimson fruits, glowing like blood jade, hung from its branches. But a closer inspection revealed golden vein-like patterns pulsating across their surfaces, radiating a divine aura the unmistakable mark of Li Xu's enhanced Spirit Tree, a variant grown with destruction energy and ki of time.

"Captain, there it is!" a subordinate called out from the control deck of a sleek, black spaceship that cruised quietly through space. The ship bore the symbol of a skull and crossed blasters the insignia of Frost's private raiding force.

"That tree's enormous. Just one look, and you can tell those fruits are packed with power," the captain muttered, eyes fixated on the luminous red orbs. "Pick a few. Let's see what they're worth."

"Yes, Captain!" several armored pirates responded, launching from the ship with their ki propelling them through the void toward the tree.

But the moment they approached within fifty meters of the Spirit Tree, crimson beams erupted from the tree's surface, piercing straight through their armor and torsos. The blasts were silent but deadly. All of them died instantly, their ki snuffed out like candles in a storm.

"W-Who's there?!" the captain roared in fury, watching his men fall.

An unfazed voice echoed behind him. "You were eyeing the fruit of my Spirit Tree?"

The captain turned, trembling. A figure stood calmly aboard his ship's hull no space suit, no oxygen, just absolute control over his own ki and environment. It was Li Xu.

"H-How did you get in here?!" the captain yelled, pointing a plasma blaster toward him with trembling fingers.

"I cultivated this tree with divine effort and rare cosmic essences. And you dare try to steal from it?" Li Xu's tone was icy and calm.

Boom!

In an instant, Li Xu vanished and reappeared in front of the captain. One precise blow to the gut sent the man gasping, knees buckling. Li Xu caught him mid-collapse.

"Who sent you?" he asked, already channeling a mild hypnosis technique, much like those used by Master Roshi and the Crane School. The pirate's eyes began to dull as the technique took effect.

After a full minute, the captain confessed everything.

"Frost, huh?" Li Xu muttered with narrowed eyes. "So your crew found this place on accident. Still… you work for him. That's enough."

Li Xu smirked darkly. "Frost, I didn't intend to cross paths with you. But your men picked the wrong tree. And now... you're on my list."

Although Frost hadn't ordered this raid directly, Li Xu had no intention of letting it slide. He'd learned long ago that in the cutthroat politics of Universe 6, mercy only bred trouble. Frost was a known manipulator posing as a savior while operating as a black-market arms dealer and mercenary broker.

After collecting the ripe Spirit Fruits, Li Xu watched the once-glorious tree begin to wither, its energy spent. He retrieved the last seed, carefully sealed it in a specialized capsule with stasis technology, and then used Instant Transmission to warp back to Planet Sadala.

"Uncle, you're finally back! Where's my Spirit Fruit?" Caulifla ran up to him the moment he reappeared on the training field, practically bouncing with impatience.

"These five are for you," Li Xu said, tossing her a small capsule. "Don't eat them all at once. Your body needs time to adapt."

"This is it? Doesn't look like much…" Caulifla observed the glowing fruit with a skeptical glance.

Crunch!

She bit into one immediately.

A violent surge of energy erupted from her core, sending waves of pressure across the training field. Her aura flared gold and red simultaneously, shaking the surrounding gravity chambers.

"Whoa! My power just exploded!" Caulifla shouted with excitement. Her base combat power had jumped by 200 million in a single instant.

"You gave me five… shouldn't Kale get five too?" Caulifla said, grinning while glancing back at her friend.

"Kale has the potential of a Legendary Super Saiyan," Li Xu said calmly. "Her problem isn't raw power it's emotional control. If she can't regulate her ki, she'll just be a berserker again. Training her to stabilize is far more important than boosting her numbers."

Caulifla pouted. "Tch. You sound like Cabba now… 'Control your ki,' 'focus your mind'… boring!"

Li Xu only smiled, watching as the Spirit Fruit's energy gradually settled into her body. He knew she was a wildcard but a useful one, if properly nurtured.

"I'll help Kale learn to control her own power," Caulifla said solemnly, surprising everyone by setting aside her desire for the Spirit Tree Fruit.

"Sister…" Kale's voice trembled with emotion as she gave Caulifla a deeply grateful look.

Li Xu turned to her. "Did you find out anything about Hit?"

"I've already asked around. To assign a mission to Hit, you just need to go through the Assassins' Guild the organization he works with across Universe 6," Caulifla explained. "But if you don't want to go yourself, my older brother can handle it for you. He has connections."

"Alright then, I'll leave it to your big brother." Li Xu nodded approvingly.

"Uncle, what kind of mission are you assigning?" Caulifla asked, curiosity lighting up her face.

"I want to hire Hit… to assassinate me." Li Xu chuckled calmly.

"What?!"

Both Caulifla and Li Yi were stunned. They stared at him with wide eyes, uncertain if they'd heard correctly.

"Uncle… are you serious?" Caulifla asked again, brows furrowed.

"Completely," Li Xu replied with a slight grin.

"But Uncle, why would you want Hit to try and kill you? I heard from Big Brother that he's ridiculously strong even stronger than most Gods of Destruction's candidates!" Caulifla said with growing worry.

"That's exactly why," Li Xu said. "Hit's legendary Time-Skip technique, along with his assassination precision, is exactly the challenge I want. I've been wanting to fight him ever since I learned about him from Champa's tournament roster years ago. But because of our conflict with Champa, I've had to put it off."

"So that's it! You want a real fight!" Caulifla's face lit up with excitement. "Man, that's awesome!"

"Dad, is this really safe?" Li Yi asked, concern evident in his voice. "Caulifla told me that Hit never holds back when he accepts a mission. He'll go all-out."

"It'll be fine." Li Xu's calm smile didn't waver. "I want to see what my limits are, and Hit's the perfect opponent for that."

"Well then, I'm heading off!" Caulifla grinned and gave Kale a tug. "We've got training to do and I'm gonna get strong enough to beat Li Yi!"

With that, she and Kale launched into the sky, a golden aura forming around them as they took off.

Li Xu turned to his son. "And don't mention this to your mother. Just focus on your training. After eating the Spirit Tree Fruit, Caulifla's strength will probably surpass yours."

"I understand, Dad. I'll train harder so that I won't fall behind." Li Yi clenched his fists in determination.

Later, Li Xu sought out Bulma and Android 18, handing them each a portion of the remaining Spirit Tree Fruits.

"This fruit boosts power like crazy," Android 18 said, weighing one in her palm. "With something like this, who's going to bother actually training anymore?"

"The fruit of the Spirit Tree is only an external boost," Li Xu replied with a serious expression. "It can help push people to their potential but for someone like Bulma, who doesn't have a warrior's foundation, once she hits a wall, even the fruit won't help her progress."

"Then I'm not worried," Bulma said with a mischievous smile, linking her arm through his. "As long as you're around, I know I'll have access to better fruits. You'll always find a way."

Li Xu chuckled. "If you didn't completely lack the drive for combat training, I wouldn't have needed to use this method to help you get stronger."

"You're the best, husband!" Bulma said playfully, nuzzling closer to him.

"Tch… do you two not realize other people are around?" Android 18 said with a small smirk, her tone carrying a tinge of jealousy.

"In that case, shouldn't you be the one to leave?" Li Xu teased, raising an eyebrow.

With a dramatic huff and a grin, he picked up Bulma in a princess carry and began walking toward the bedroom, leaving 18 shaking her head.
