Drake POV
I always knew Eve was hiding something.
From the first day she walked into that classroom pretending to be someone else, I could feel it — that spark under her skin, the scent of magic that didn't belong to the "new teacher" she claimed to be. She carried herself too carefully, too deliberately. Her disguise was good — the fake name, the colored contacts, the soft tone she put on to sound harmless — but it was the way her power hummed beneath all that that gave her away.
Eve was up to something.
Not that I could ever prove it, of course. She wore her disguise too well — the quiet teacher, the careful smile, the long sleeves hiding more secrets than ink. But deep down, something in me knew. The way her eyes burned when she thought no one was watching.
And yeah… I'll admit it. For a stupid moment, I let myself believe maybe she'd come back for me.
