Chapter 23 - AAMH: Chapter 23

After sending the frightened Betty to rest, Banner slammed his fist on the table. "Kingpin, that bastard, I won't let him get away with this!"

"No, you won't let him get away with it, you won't let him get away with it. Why are you smashing my table?" Yuma looked at the table, which was almost dented by Banner's fist, and said unhappily. "If you want to smash something, go smash Kingpin. We have a saying in China, 'Tit for tat.' Why don't you give him a gift too?"

Banner thought it made a lot of sense. Since the other side could threaten him, and he wasn't defenseless, he could threaten the other side too.

"What kind of gift do you think would be good?" Banner asked.

"That's easy," Yuma said casually. "Kingpin is the underground emperor of America. As long as you fight crime, you're fighting him. Find some of his drug trafficking or arms industries, and wipe them out. He'll be heartbroken, or at least disgusted."

After listening, Banner refused Yuma's help and rushed out on his own.

It seemed that Kingpin had touched Banner's sore spot. Plus, Banner didn't catch Betty in the end, so he felt guilty. He thought he had to do this alone.

Yuma looked at Banner's back and silently mourned for Kingpin. Why provoke Hulk?

He's the one who gets stronger the angrier he gets. When he goes crazy, he doesn't recognize anyone. He's the one who repeatedly slammed Thor and Loki to the ground!

Banner didn't come back until the early morning of the next day. As soon as he came back, he went straight to sleep, leaving Yuma's prepared questions unanswered.

In the morning, Yuma was eating lunch while looking at the newspaper, smiling from ear to ear.

The news in the newspaper was all about Hulk fighting crime last night. Overnight, Hulk had become a household name, a superhero who fights crime.

According to incomplete statistics, Hulk had fought 12 criminal gangs last night, captured 59 drug dealers, 87 arms dealers, 35 smugglers, and 5 robbers!

He confiscated countless drugs, weapons, and smuggled cars, filling an entire police warehouse!

"Banner, did you have time to catch robbers last night?" Yuma saw Banner wake up and handed him a glass of milk, teasing him. "What's the matter? Are you addicted to being a superhero? You can't help but fight crime when you see it?"

"What robbers?" Banner took a big gulp of milk. "I was busy fighting Kingpin's industries last night. Where would I have time to care about robbers?"

"Look," Yuma pointed to a photo in the newspaper. "Didn't it say here that five bank robbers were knocked unconscious by you and thrown in front of the bank?"

"Let me see," Banner leaned over and looked at it, shaking his head. "I don't recognize these people. And I'm sure I didn't catch any bank robbers last night."

"Okay, maybe some reporter made it up to increase sales and attract attention," Yuma shrugged.

"Holy crap, Raza!" Just as Yuma was about to continue reading the newspaper, he suddenly noticed a bald man in the corner of the photo. The bald man was none other than Raza, the leader of the Ten Rings who kidnapped Tony!

"Who's Raza?" Banner asked, pouring himself a glass of milk.

Yuma ignored Banner and thought about why Raza would be here.

According to the plot of "Iron Man 1," Raza was instructed by Obadiah Stane to attack Tony's convoy in the Middle East and kidnap Tony.

But he didn't know he was going to kidnap Tony before the operation. When he found out, he felt that Obadiah Stane's payment wasn't enough to buy Tony's life, so he secretly kept Tony to make Jericho missiles for him.

The question was, why was he now in New York? Had he come early to discuss the payment with Obadiah Stane?

"Yuma, what's wrong?" Banner came over and asked when he saw Yuma not saying anything.

"Nothing, I just thought of something," Yuma came back to his senses. "How about it, Banner, do you want to continue fighting Kingpin? If you need to, you can contact Natasha. She definitely has detailed information about Kingpin's forces."

"That's right, I have his detailed information here. If you need it, I can give it to you." Before Banner could speak, Natasha's voice came from outside.

Yuma looked at Natasha speechlessly. Talk about the devil and he appears. And are your ears a little too sensitive? You can hear through the door?

"You guys made too much noise last night," Natasha said to Banner. "The government higher-ups are very unhappy. They want to revoke the agreement. But the director and General Ross considered it because of Betty, so they took the pressure for you and didn't invalidate the agreement."

"You need to be more low-key!" Natasha threw two envelopes on Yuma's desk.

"What is this?" Yuma looked at the envelopes in front of him curiously, not paying any attention to Natasha's words.

The American government higher-ups always only care about their interests and politics. They never care about the process or the reason for things, so there's no need to take their words seriously. They just want to get more benefits from the two of them.

Besides, there are still Hydra spies in S.H.I.E.L.D. higher-ups. There's no way their words can be trusted.

"This is an agreement for you," Natasha explained, sitting opposite Yuma. "There are two copies. See which one you want to sign."

"Two copies?" Yuma had a faint premonition. It should be what he thought, right?

"That's right," Natasha continued. "The first one is what we agreed on before. As for the second one, it's S.H.I.E.L.D.'s 'Avengers' plan!"

As expected, Yuma had guessed it was the 'Avengers' plan, but he didn't expect it to come so soon.

Due to the massive threat posed by evil forces to Earth, no single superhero could stand alone.

S.H.I.E.L.D., which has long been dedicated to protecting global security, was caught off guard. Its director, Nick Fury, realized that he must create a "strongest ever" alliance organization, bringing together superheroes from all walks of life to unleash their power together, in order to save the world from dire straits and resist the invasion of dark forces. So, he proposed the 'Avengers' plan, the precursor to the Avengers.

"You want to invite me and Hulk to join the Avengers?" Yuma stroked his chin and asked. Does this mean I'm a founding member of the Avengers?

"Not join," Natasha corrected. "It's just an invitation to participate in the plan. As for whether you can join the Avengers, you'll have to wait until after you've been assessed."

"I'll listen to Yuma!" Seeing Natasha look at him, Banner quickly waved his hand.

"Sorry," Yuma said apologetically, seeing Natasha look at him. "I don't want to participate in your plan."

"Why?" Natasha asked loudly. "You haven't even taken a good look at it."

"Because I sell my skills, not my body?"

Seeing Natasha show the same expression as Tony, Yuma quickly said, "I don't like working for others. If you need help, I'll go help, but I won't be under your control."

Thinking about the civil war that would break out in the Avengers later, Yuma had no desire to join.

He had to protect Earth from threats, but he couldn't hurt any civilians. Otherwise, he would have to be under the control of the American government, working for them. Whoever wants to do that, can do it. I'm not doing it!
