Poison Maiden Town Soul Miesheng repeated with faint amusement.
Yes that is right the inn servant nodded. The old Yishui Town is gone. In fact in those days it was still called Yishui Village. When disaster struck perhaps fewer than ten people survived. His voice carried a sigh.
At those words the silver haired girl lowered her head. Her delicate hands locked together so tightly that her knuckles turned white.
Poison Maiden someone at the counter sneered. Back then she should have been called the Poison Infant. I knew from the start that little girl would be a scourge. Hmph. I always argued we should drive that shameless pair out of the village. Those stubborn fools insisted on keeping them. They even let that child be born and in the end they all died every one of them. Serves them right. The blind old man tilted his head his hollow eyes oozing with malice. It was that poisonous wench who ruined my eyes. If I meet her again I will flay her alive and tear her to pieces.
Others in the inn eagerly joined in. Such a creature should never have been allowed to live. She was so venomous she even harmed her own parents.
The jeers grew louder. Many laughed with cruel delight taking pleasure in repeating the tragedy.
The inn servant muttered almost to himself Perhaps in her heart she too felt pain. He had a two year old daughter of his own. He knew how deep the bond of blood could be. But his words were quickly drowned beneath the tide of ridicule. To find joy in the suffering of another was the habit of the crowd.
The Poison Maiden never wished to harm anyone Xiao Yixian whispered. Her voice trembled.
For a heartbeat the room fell silent. Then came waves of mocking laughter.
A few mercenaries stood up surrounding her. They were bare chested their skin marked with savage tattoos of tigers and leopards. Each carried a heavy blade. That is the Tiger Leopard Mercenary Group someone hissed. Their leader is a three star Da Dou Shi.
The scarred leader smirked and let his greedy eyes roam over the girl in white. Her silver hair her fair face her slender waist everything about her stoked his lust. What a beautiful little doll he muttered. I think you must be that accursed Poison Maiden. Let me check you carefully before you bring more disaster to our town. He reached for her hand.
The crowd that had been so righteous seconds before fell into fearful silence. None dared speak.
Pathetic Soul Miesheng sighed. Kindness was always so cheap.
A shadow flickered. Blood spattered across the inn. The scarred man screamed his hand pinned to the wall by a wooden chopstick. No matter how he struggled his Dou Qi could not break free.
Soul Miesheng sipped his wine and shook his head. The taste has changed.
The mercenaries stared wide eyed. A Da Dou Shi felled with a casual flick. They tried to flee. But the doors slammed shut on their own. Their frantic blows could not make the wooden panels budge.
Soul Miesheng began to rise but a pale slender hand pressed him back down. I will do it myself Xiao Yixian murmured.
Colorful poison mist seeped from her body. Screams echoed through the inn. When the mist faded only piles of white bone remained.
The inn was silent save for the trembling servant. Soul Miesheng smiled tossing two gold coins that embedded themselves deep into the counter. Settle the bill.
The servant slumped in shock but realized with relief that his life was spared. His casual words earlier had saved him.
Xiao Yixian spoke softly. When I was three my parents left the city and returned to Yishui Village. Perhaps they already suspected the truth about my body. They gave up their medical hall in the city. All they wanted was a peaceful life.
For two years I was truly happy. A family together carefree. She pointed to a patch of ground now turned into a tavern. That was my home. She smiled as she said it though her words carried deep sorrow.
They walked through the town with no concern for prying eyes. She led him step by step to the back mountain where weeds covered the ground. A stream ran nearby clear and cold.
But when I turned five my Constitution erupted for the first time. It was my birthday. It should have been the happiest day. Instead I watched my parents fall with smiles still on their faces. I can never forget. That night I killed everyone in the village. I saw them struggle before me yet I could not stop it.
She knelt pulling weeds from a small mound. She righted a crooked wooden tablet. This is She trembled her eyes moist. These are the remains of my parents. I buried them with my own hands.
She stared at the tablet in silence. Soul Miesheng simply stood beside her. Time passed. At last she wiped her eyes and carefully carved her own name into the corner of the tablet. Then she looked up at him with hope. Will you leave your name here too
He did not answer at once. She lowered her gaze disheartened. Then he reached out and rubbed her hair. With his finger he carved his name beside hers.
Her smile lit up the world. You look beautiful when you smile he said gently pinching her cheek.
In that moment her body shuddered. A wave of pressure burst outward covering the land for miles. Dou Qi from the heavens surged into her body. Weaker cultivators nearby collapsed to the ground.
I I Xiao Yixian gasped in shock.
You broke through Soul Miesheng said with astonishment. This was the first time he had seen such a breakthrough. Was this the so called sudden enlightenment
Colorful poison mist seeped uncontrollably from her body filling the area. He frowned. A natural reaction to breaking through with a poisonous constitution. Sit still I will help you condense the Poison Pill.
She nodded and placed her hands into his palms. Her heart raced.
Do not let your thoughts wander he warned with a wicked smile. If your energy runs astray your meridians will suffer.
I am not thinking nonsense she muttered closing her eyes tightly.
His soul force surged pressing down on her rampaging toxins driving them back toward her dantian. Streams of chaotic purple Qi entered like an emperor's decree forcing all the poison sources to converge.
Xiao Yixian groaned softly her body trembling sweat soaking her white dress. Around them the Dou Qi of heaven and earth gathered like a storm.
The Poison Pill was forming. She was stepping into the realm of Dou Zun.
