Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Overnight Escape

"I'm Sun Lijuan, let go of me! Filthy animal, do you really think you're deserving of me?"

Who is Zhou Jinzhu? All his life, he's only bullied others. When did he ever let anyone bully him like this? Hearing her words, his anger boiled over, and he started wrestling with her.

"I don't care who you are! I came in here to be the groom! Why am I not good enough for you? I haven't even complained that you're uglier than Sun Chan! You better behave yourself!"

Sun Lijuan was filled with rage. Since childhood, she outshone Sun Chan in everything, except appearances.

Now this lowlife dared to criticize her looks as inferior to Sun Chan!

Just as she was about to curse, she smelled the reek of alcohol from Zhou Jinzhu's mouth, almost making her vomit, and she pushed him away in disgust: "Get off me!"

"Why should I get off?" Zhou Jinzhu, becoming more excited, started pulling at her clothes, grabbing hard at the flesh on her waist.

Su Lijuan cried out in pain, and the two of them were wrestling on the kang bed.

"Mom! Come here, help me!"

At first, Zhao Xiuxia didn't care, spat on the ground, "Pah, acting all virtuous, huh? Once you've slept with him, that's your life, so why not go obediently and make some money for your old lady?"

But gradually, she noticed something was off. Why does it sound like Juan'er's voice? She hurriedly went over to open the door, and the two on the kang bed were already tangled in a fight, with Sun Lijuan initially acting cocky, but later bursting into tears.

"Let go of me! Let go... I'm not Sun Chan!"

"I don't care, I'm going to be the groom!"

Zhao Xiuxia let out a shout, rushing over to yank his collar, dragging him off the kang bed: "Are you crazy? How dare you lay a hand on your elder sister-in-law!"

Luckily, Zhou Jinzhu had drunk a few more glasses during dinner, feeling a bit muddled, lacking enough strength, otherwise it would have been done.

Sun Lijuan pulled the quilt around her, sobbing loudly, with clothes ripped apart and pain all over her body, utterly miserable.

Zhao Xiuxia began cursing too, "What's going on here? Where's that wretched girl Sun Chan?"

"She knocked me out and ran off! Mom, you have to stand up for me!" Sun Lijuan was bruised all over, hurting so badly that tears kept flowing, as she clung to her mother, crying. Zhou Jinzhu just chuckled, thinking it'd be nice to get both sisters.

"Get out!" Zhao Xiuxia furiously, wielding a chair, chased Zhou Jinzhu out.

Zhou Jinzhu was nonchalant, "Doesn't matter who, I'd be willing to marry Sun Lijuan."

"Pah! Look at yourself, my girl got into vocational school, she'll marry someone from the city in the future, why should you marry her? Get out!" With Zhou Jinzhu's character, only Sun Chan, a primary school graduate, matched him!

"You think I'd leave just because you tell me to? The person is gone, who will I get engaged to? The bride price was 500 yuan!" Zhou Jinzhu wasn't stupid.

Zhao Xiuxia felt burning rage at the loss of 500 yuan slipping away!

Sun Lijuan gritted her teeth, "Our engagement continues as usual. I'll just bring the person back directly when the time comes! You may leave now."

"Will your words hold? Otherwise, maybe I'll settle for you." Outside, the moonlight shone on Sun Lijuan's shoulder.

Zhou Jinzhu couldn't help but swallow. Sun Lijuan wasn't as pretty as Sun Chan, but having never done farm work, her skin was fair and tender, not bad.

Sun Lijuan, enraged, cursed and grabbed a pillow from the bed, hurling it: "Get lost! You filthy scoundrel, I'd rather die than marry you!"

Zhao Xiuxia tugged him outside: "You still want to marry Sun Chan! Lijuan won't graduate for a few more years. Doesn't your father want you to bear a son? You've already settled with Sun Chan, and now you're messing with your elder sister-in-law, aren't you afraid others will talk behind your back? Go home, stop dawdling! I promise you a bride!"

Being such a commotion late at night, villagers had heard it, and when Zhao Xiuxia drove Zhou Jinzhu out, a crowd had gathered outside, craning their necks to watch the spectacle.

Zhou Jinzhu didn't care, swaggering out of the Sun Family's home.

Zhao Xiuxia wished she could find a hole to crawl into, forcefully pushing the people aside, slamming the door shut.

"What are you looking at? Sun Chan got into a fight with Zhou Jinzhu, it's nothing, just move along!" In the dead of night, Zhou Jinzhu in Sun Chan's room was no good business. Eventually, people could say whatever, they'd just pour dirty water on Sun Chan.

Unfortunately, everyone had heard it was Sun Lijuan's voice inside but didn't say anything.

After driving the people away, Zhao Xiuxia hurried to Sun Lijuan: "Juan'er! Are you alright?"

Sun Lijuan threw herself into her mother's arms, sobbing: "Mom! That little wretch knocked me out, stole my money, and nearly got me defiled by that filthy rogue! You have to stand up for me, boo-hoo..." She still wanted to marry into the city, but what if news spread!

"That wild child, I'll definitely avenge you! I'll go call the family to catch her back, after all, there's only one road in the village, and it hasn't been long, she's probably still in the village now! How dare that little wretch!" Zhao Xiuxia seethed with anger, wishing she could torment Sun Chan right now!

She didn't consider that if it weren't for her and her daughter scheming against her, Sun Chan wouldn't have done this.

"Fine, make sure to catch her, then throw her directly onto Zhou Jinzhu's bed!" Thinking about the humiliation tonight, Sun Lijuan trembled with anger, eyes red. She also worried, what if the wretch didn't return, and Zhou Jinzhu insisted on marrying her? She definitely didn't want to marry that scoundrel.

Zhao Xiuxia didn't have the heart to comfort her daughter, quickly running to find someone to bring Sun Chan back.

Meanwhile, Sun Chan was hurrying along the village road with her bundle, her mind only focused on one thought: to leave this village.

Finally, she reached the small stone bridge at the village entrance and took a deep breath. There, a large boundary stone marked her previous life's farthest point, never going past, but this life, she arrived here and would continue going forward.

Sun Chan moved even faster, not knowing what lay ahead. But no matter what, she would bravely face it; she wasn't afraid to suffer. She wanted freedom, she would never return to this nightmare place!

She walked onto an utterly unfamiliar path, following the highway, resting whenever tired, eating dry food to stave off hunger.

She kept walking for who knows how long, growing sleepy, leaning on a tree, nodding off.

But no sooner had she sat down, than voices and numerous flashlight beams illuminated far behind her.

Sun Chan's mind buzzed — they're on her trail!

She couldn't afford to be tired, swiftly moving ahead, but several pursuers were on bicycles, catching up quickly, one sharp-eyed person spotting her silhouette ahead.
